Psalm 23

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I. The Lord is my Shepherd

That’s entering into His Rest!

(Mat 11:28 KJV) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Heb 4:9 KJV) There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

A. When Jesus felt overwhelmed he said to his disciples, "Come away for awhile and rest."

IV. He leadeth me beside the still waters

That’s God’s wonderful Refreshment! A cloud by day and fire by night!

(1 Kings 13:7 KJV) And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward.

(John 14:27 KJV) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

(1 Cor 10:13 KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
