Summary: Proverbs 16

Proverbs 16

16:1 – The preparations of the heart belong to man but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord:

i. “A somewhat obscure proverb which recognizes that man has to exercise his own reason in making his plans, but that he is dependent on the Lord for the answer of the tongue.” (Morgan)

16:2 – All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes but the Lord weighs his spirits:

i. Man justifies his own actions and sees them as pure (We often give ourselves more grace than we offer others).

16:3 – Commit your works to the Lord and your thoughts (plans) will be established:

i. Every man and woman should commit their works to the LORD. They should depend on God in their works and they should do those works as unto the LORD (Colossians 3:23).

iv. How does my activity REFLECT the CHARACTER of God?

v. How does my activity ADVANCE the KIGNDOM of God?

vi. How does my activity DISPLAY the GLORY of God?
