What Happens When the heat is On? Text: Isaiah 53:1
WHO HAS believed (trusted in, relied upon, and clung to) our message [of that which was revealed to us]? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been disclosed?
Every person in here this morning, has the same opportunity to go and, grow in his or her walk with the Lord. In-fact, God has given us the same promises, the same Bible; however, some will chose to opt out, to stop growth, and stay on the same baby level they have been on for years. It’s time for many in here to change reports, and change confessions. For our belief system to change; however, means that we get willing to get rid of those hidden crevasse throughout our heart.
I. Here’s a word of rebuke and exhortation: It’s the devil’s will for you to have two minds, or to be doubled minded! He doesn’t want you to grow; he doesn’t want you to become powerfully anointed. He wants you to doubt, and get and stay depressed!
A. James 1: 7-8 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
B. Three men were walking on a wall, Feeling, Faith and Fact, when feeling got an awful fall, and faith was taken back. So close was faith to feeling, He stumbled and fell too, but fact remained and pulled faith back, and faith brought feeling too! Fact is: you’re going to make it; the devil is a liar!
C. In Numbers 13:1-2, 17-20,30-33 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a leader among them.” 17-20 Then Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “Go up this way into the South, and go up to the mountains, 18 and see what the land is like: whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, few or many; 19 whether the land they dwell in is good or bad; whether the cities they inhabit are like camps or strongholds; 20 whether the land is rich or poor; and whether there are forests there or not. Be of good courage. And bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes. 30-33 30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” 31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” 32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
D. Two sentences that should stand out to every believer: 1. God said the lands yours! Vs2 2. Caleb called them to possess the land now; don’t wait!
E. Numbers 14: 1,5,7-12 1 So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. 5. Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. 7-12 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’9 Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” 10 And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel.11 Then the LORD said to Moses: “How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them? 12 I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”
F. Three areas that destroyed these Israelites: 1. They were fleshly! They loved other things; they had a heart problem. Luke 10:25 A certain Lawyer came to Jesus and asks Him how he could have eternal salvation? Vs.27 The lawyer answered his own question by saying that he must love the Lord God with all his heart, soul, strength, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.
G. 2. They were faithless! They didn’t believe; they even hated other’s faith. Vs.10 And the entire congregation said to stone them with stones. Why? Because Moses and Aaron had faith!
H. 3. They were filled with rebellion! They hated authority! When the heat is turned on (something) will come out! God’s word say’s, "Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft!"
I. These giants were placed in the Israelites lives to show God where their loyalty was! Are you passing the test around you? Even Jesus at the begining of His minstry was driven by the Spirit into the wilderness for 40 day’s and was tempted by the devil!
J. After the test, Angels came and comforted Jesus!
