A. The Groom (vv. 6-7)
1. The Groom is Jesus
a. John the Baptist called Him the Lamb of God (John 1 :29)
b. He is worshipped as the Lamb in heaven(Rev. 5:12)
c. He is called the Lamb that was slain (Rev. 5:8-12)
2. Jesus called Himself the Bridegroom (Matt. 9: 15)
3. The parable of the wise and foolish virgins (Matt. 25:1-13)
a. A parable about the return of Christ
b. A warning for us all to be ready (v. 13)
4. An outpouring of praise as the wedding begins (v. 6) .
5. A time for heaven to be glad and rejoice (v. 7)
B. The Bride (vv. 7-8)
1. The bride is the church
2. Every wedding should remind us of Christ and His church
a. Paul teaching duties of husbands and wives (Eph. 5:22-33)
b. All drawn from Christ and His bride, the church (v. 32)
3. Jesus died to pay for the sins of His bride
4. The Bridegroom’s grace makes the bride’s gown possible
5. The bride’s gown is made of fine linen
a. The fine linen is the righteousness of saints
b. What we weave in time we wear in eternity
C. The Reception (v. 9)
1. "The marriage supper of the Lamb"
2. Here is a great feast in heaven
a. All present at the supper are especially blessed
b. Good food will evidently be a part of heaven
3. There is good reason to celebrate
a. A marriage of love (John 3:16)
b. A marriage that will last forever
4. Perhaps supper music by the angels

1. The Holy Spirit is still inviting

3. The poor, the maimed, the lame, and the blind are still welcome
