Hidden Symbolism: Inherit the Wind

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

You can tell how big a person is: by what it takes to

discourage him.

There are many lessons hidden in the Bible in symbolism.

Symbolism is the art or practice of using symbolic things that have intangible representation or invisible meaning.

It is a method of revealing or suggesting immaterial, ideals, or truths through a hidden statement or indirect literary usage.

For example, Jesus taught man that it is better to pluck out his eyes than to allow the eyes to take him to Hell.

This is a very important lesson, we are to control our eyes, our desires, our wants instead of letting the flesh dictate to our spirit being.

We say birds of a feather flock together, and we are not talking about birds at all, but we are talking about the value of choosing good friends and peer pressure.

Let me tell you a great truth, whether you get the answer to the prayeryou asked for, or the answer that you dreaded, God’s grace is still the

same.

Let us study some deep and beautiful symbolism of the Bible.

Pull up the Word of God, this is a wonderful lesson.

There is an expression, "I can feel something in the wind."

Proverbs 11:29 He that troubled his own house shall inherit the wind.

WIND:

*** a direction from which the wind may blow

*** a natural movement of the air of any velocity

*** an artificial movement of the air

*** a force or agency that carries along or influence

*** to detect or follow by a scent

*** to introduce stealthily

English is amazing --- the winds blows?

You wind a clock?

Pipe organs work by blowing a wind supply through different lengths of pipes.

John 3:8 The wind blows where it listeth, and thou hear the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it comes, and whither it goes: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.

WE NEED THE MIGHTY WIND OF GOD TO VENTILATE AND BRING

CHANGE.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the house where they were sitting.

Remember when the Lord was not in the fire, the earthquake or the wind?

I Kings 19:11 -- 12.

F. HOSEA WARNS BLESSINGS CAN CHANGE TO SHORTAGES.

he shalt spoil the treasure of all his pleasant vessels.

G. MOSES CALLS THE EAST WIND.

Exodus 10:13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the East wind brought the locusts.

H. Will we be devoured by the East wind?

II. THE NORTH WIND REPRESENTS CLEANSING!

A. CLEANSE:

*** clean

*** to rid of impurities

*** washing.

Isaiah 41:25 I have raised up one from the NORTH, and he shall come, from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name, and he shall come upon princes as upon mortar, and as the potter treads the clay.

Jer. 3:12 Go and proclaim these words toward the NORTH, and say Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to

Acts 28:13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the SOUTH WIND BLEW, AND WE CAME THE NEXT DAY TO PUTEOLI.

Psalms 78:26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by His power He brought in the South wind.

IV. THE WEST WINDS OF THE BIBLE REPRESENT GOD’S

BLESSINGS!

A. The West wind carried away the locusts until not one was left!

Exo.10:19 And the Lord turned away a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red Sea; there remained not one locust in all the coast of Egypt.

B. In the Bible ambushes were often set in the West.

They lost terribly at AI.

Judges 20:33 And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baaltamar; and the liers in wait of Israel came forth out of their places even out of the meadows of Gibeah. (To the West)

up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel until we were passed over, their heart melted neither was there spirit in them anymore because of the children of Israel.

Luke 12:54 And Jesus said also to the people

When you see a cloud rise up out of the west straightway you say, There comes a shower, and so it is.

C. There shall be showers of blessings.

V. THE NORTH WIND REPRESENTS CLEANSING!

THE SOUTH WIND REPRESENTS RENEWAL-REVIVAL!

Songs of Solomon 4:16 Awake, O NORTH WIND; and come thou South, blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into His garden, and eat pleasant fruits.

sanctification.
