SHAKING, SIFTING AND BREAKING?

I take a sifter, some sand and some rocks.
In front of the church, I sift the sand, and we talk about the role of sifting. There comes a sifting of the nations.
There comes a sifting of the church.

Introduction:
WILL WE SEE IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM THE BATTLE THAT NOW
RAGES?
We must prepare our hearts to expect the seasons of shaking.
We must guard our hearts to thrive in the seasons of shaking.
The house built on the rock can not sink, for how shall one sink on a solid rock?
There is a major shifting and sifting of the church and the believers.
We walk in perilous times.
MAY THE MERCIFUL HAND OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD GRAB THE
ATTENTION OF THE WORLD, THE GREAT SHAKING IS UPON US.
We will come closer to God or the death bells will toll.
Whatever is not of God and is not of truth will be broken in the shaking.
We will see many fall, because their motives were not of God.
Playing church and crumb seekers will sink in this great shaking that is upon us.
A.THUS LET TRUTH HAVE HER WAY.
HEARING AND ACCEPTING TRUTH IS KIND OF LIKE SURGERY,
YOU MAY HURT REAL BAD FOR A WHILE, BUT THROUGH THE
SURGERY YOU CAN AID IN CORRECTING THE HEALTH PROBLEM.
B. The Corvette Plant.
I live nine to ten miles from the Corvette plant. They now make a two seater Cadilac there. I have often toured the plant with friends.
I will tell you testing is part of the building of these expensive cars.
They pull each car into a bright, bright room and trained eyes look at every inch of the vehicle.
They drive the car over ribs and bounce the car violently, seeing if anything is loose. They hook up a huge computer to each car and pull it into a room.
These huge barrel like things raise up and the trained expert is mean to the car. He takes the car to 70 mph, he turns left then right. He stops quickly.
He accelerates quickly, for several minutes each car is put to the test.
The computer gives precise readings on thousands of stats on the car.
There are limits of acceptance, and if the vehicle fails it is pulled into a special area and the problem is corrected and retested.
If the car passes, it goes out of the plant to be loaded on a truck and delivered to it’s owner.
One out of 8 to 10 cars are taken out on the road and driven for a greater testing process.
C. LOOK AT THE DIFFERNECES IN STUDENTS?
While discussing this let me tell you the difference in a poor student and a good student.
Once I was a school teacher in Lee County Virginia.
We gave national standardized test at the end of the year.
The test took 4 1/2 days.
The students were told that week to rest well during the night.
The instructions were have two #2 lead pencils and a cover sheet to do their extra figuring.
The students would darken in the proper circle for what they thought was the right answer.
One year I gave the test out to the students.
The first test was 40 minutes long.
My student Donnie, darkened in all the circles for the whole four and half days testing in about 20 minutes.
He was so proud, he came to my desk with everything answered.
I made him go erase everything and start over again.
I had a student named David, his Dad was a doctor.
David loved test.
I asked David once why he loved tests?
David replied, It is my chance to prove I have studied.
When David finished his test for that time, he would go back and check his work.
Occasionally he would find a problem he had answered wrong, and he would correct it.
Smart students always check their work.
Slow students seldom see the need to check for mistakes.
I tried my best to always have my students proof read and check their work when they were finished.
Every work I submit, my wife comes in and we proofread the work together.
No matter how careful I am, we always find mistakes.
Smart people try to correct their mistakes.
Slow people think they are always right the first time?
I. SHAKING IS PART OF GOD’S WORK!
Luke 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars, and upon earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.
26. Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
28. And when these things begin to come to pass,
THEN LOOK UP, AND LIFT UP YOUR HEADS; FOR YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH.
A. SHAKE
***A shock or blow that upsets the equilibrium or disturbs the balance of something
***To vibrate as the result of a blow or shock
***To lessen the stability
*** To tremble as a result of physical or emotional disturbance
***To experience a state of instability
*** To briskly move something to and fro
***To move irregularly to and fro
***To brandish or wave in a threatening manner
***To free oneself from
***To dislodge or eject by quick jerking movements the support
***To stir the feelings ***To agitate
***Nervousness ***To shudder, shiver
***A brief period of time
***Prolonged tossing and stirring for a purpose
B. Do we know more about sports and our bank accounts and TV Guide than we know about our FAITH BALANCE and our FAITH ACCOUNT?
C. WE MAY NOT LIKE THE SHAKING THAT IS GOING ON AROUND US, BUT GOD IS IN CONTROL, AND HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND THE WORLD.
D. WE MUST LEARN TO TRUST HIM DURING TIMES OR SEASONS OF SHAKING.
II. A GOOD SHAKING WILL TELL A LOT OF THINGS?
WHAT WE THINK AND WHAT IS THE REALITY OF THE MOMENT
MAY DIFFER GREATLY.
Judges 16:20 And Delilah said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I WILL GO OUT AS AT OTHER TIMES BEFORE, AND SHAKE MYSELF. And Samson wist not that the Lord was departed from him.
A.Man has this great ability to deny what he is doing.
B. Many have hidden skeletons in their closets that hinder the move of God.
C. God loves us enough to shake and expose the weak areas.
III. NEHIAMIAH DOES A CEREMONIAL SHAKING IN FRONT OF THE PEOPLE. HEED THIS WARNING?
A. HOW YOU FOCUS AND THINK ON A PROBLEM IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE PROBLEM.
B. AS FIRE IS THE TEST OF SILVER AND GOLD,
ADVERSITY AND FRIENDS ARE THE TEST OF MEN!
Nehemiah 5:13 Also I shook my lap. and said, SO SHALL GOD SHAKE OUT EVERY MAN FORM HIS HOUSE, AND FROM HIS LABOR, THAT PERFORMETH NOT THE PROMISE, EVEN THUS BE HE SHAKEN OUT AND EMPTIED. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the Lord. And thus the people did according to this promise.
C. God will pull you through, if you will stand the pull.
D. Do we trust God through this shaking?
IV. SHAKING DOES NOT HAVE TO DESTROY YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! IT IS A MATTER OF CHOICES AND PLANNING.
Luke 4:48 He is like a man which built a house, and DIGGED DEEP, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon the house, and COULD NOT SHAKE IT: FOR IT WAS FOUNDED UPON THE ROCK.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not is like a man without a foundation, built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently,
and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
A. THERE ARE SEVERAL CHOICES INVOLVED HERE.
B. THERE IS THE CHOICE OF HOW TO BUILD?
C. WHAT BUILDING MATERIALS WILL WE USE?
E. BUT WHAT ABOUT WHERE SHOULD WE BUILD?
F. BUILDING IN THE FLOOD PLANE SHOWS A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY AND FLOODS?
G. OR BUILDING IN THE FLOOD PLANE SHOWS TAKING A GAMBLE THAT I THINK THIS CAN NEVER HAPPEN TO ME?
V. HOW YOU HANDLE ADVERSITY AND TRIALS WILL EITHER BRING PROMOTION, OR WILL BECOME A TERRIBLE TRAP?
SEE IT IS ALL UP TO YOU. DON’T ALLOW TRIALS TO SHAKE YOU!
II Thessalonians 2:2 That ye not be SOON SHAKEN IN MIND, or BE TROUBLED, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the DAY OF CHRIST IS AT HAND.
3. Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition.
A.John 14 Says an imperative command, Let not your hearts be troubled.
B. God has not given us a spirit of fear.
C. This time and season of shaking is a good day of opportunity.
VI. SHAKING AND TESTING ALWAYS PRECEDE PROMOTION!
Hebrews 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shall shake not the earth only, but also heaven.
27: And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29: For our God is a consuming fire.
VII. THERE IS A SECRET PLACE TO MINIMIZE THE SHAKEN AND A SOURCE OF REFUGE.
A. REFUGE:
***Shelter or protection from dangers and distresses.
***Recourse in a time of difficulty
***A place where one can be safe from danger
***Sanctuary
B. There were 6 Cities of Refuge, three on one side of the river and three on the other side.
Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.
3 Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.
10. There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
15. He shall call upon me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.
16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Psalms 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praise unto Thy name, O Most High!
C. REVIVAL WILL COME IN A PROCESS OF THANKSGIVING AND
PRAISE!
VIII. THERE SHALL BE A SHAKING OF THE TEMPLE?
A. John 2 Jesus said He would tear down this temple and rebuild it in three days, A GREAT SHAKING?
B. THE JEWS SAID IT TOOK 46 YEARS TO BUILD THIS TEMPLE.
John 2:21 But Jesus spake of the temple of His body.
1 Corinthians 6:19 WHAT? KNOW YE NOT THAT YOUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WHICH IS IN YOU. Which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 Ye are bought with a price... therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which is God’s.
CONCLUSION:
WILL WE SEE IN THE SPIRITUAL REALM THE BATTLE THAT NOW
RAGES?
We must prepare our hearts to expect the seasons of shaking.
We must guard our hearts to thrive in the seasons of shaking.
