DIVINE POSSIBILITIES: ACCEPT GOD’S MANTLE FOR YOU!

Did you hear about the Duck Church?
The ducks gathered every service to worship.
They would waddle to church every Sunday.
Pastor Duck would preach, WE CAN FLY!
The Duck members yelled amen, then they waddled home?
We are in the series of Divine Possibilities. God has a place near His heart for you.
We approach God’s throne humbly but boldly as His children. The closer we walk to the Father the better we will know Him. It is a very important
point for those that follow Jesus to come close to Him.
Today we seldom reach above our potential and accept there is more, there is the realm of Divine
Possibilities! We must speak to this spiritual realm and reach for God’s plan.
The closer we are to God and His son Jesus the better we can hear Him.
It is high time within the church that we speak blessing and release the Divine possibilities
that bring release. This is serious and we need to learn the power of coming close and being in the
center of His will. We want more than warming at a distant fire!
We are still treading in the realm of Divine Possibilities and we approach a very important
area for those that follow Jesus. Today we seldom reach above our potential and accept there is
more, there is the realm of Divine Possibilities! We must speak to this spiritual realm and reach
for God’s plan.
It is high time within the church that we speak blessing and release the Divine possibilities
that bring release. This is serious and we need to learn the power of blessing from the
Biblical point of view.
WE HAVE A HERITAGE AND WE MUST CLAIM OUR RIGHTFUL INHERITANCE.
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment thou shalt condemn. THIS IS A HERITAGE OF THE SERVANTS OF THE LORD, and their righeousness is of me, said the Lord.
The Bible is full of generational blessings.
Abraham brought himself in line with God’s blessings, but this PROMISE goes on to his son and unto coming generations.
I think as we study SPEAKING TO DIVINE POSSIBILITIES WE MUST SUBMIT AND LEARN ABOUT HOW WE CAN WALK UNDER THE MANTLE OF GOD’S CARE AND PROTECTION.
We must learn to pass the torch of the flame of God onto others.
There is much evidence in the Bible that good men of God learned to pass the torch of blessings to other men.
Elijah clearly passed a torch to a young farm boy named Elisha.
Paul found a young man named Timothy and passed knowledge, wisdom, and experience onto young Timothy.
We can never be a success without a successor.
We must grasp the MANTLE OF GOD AND PASS THE MANTLE ON to advance the kingdom of God.
Today it is seldom seen to have a great respect for the MANTLE OF GOD.
We have a responsibility to mentor, guide, teach, counsel, coach, advise others.
Never forget we have a duty to come under the MANTLE OF THE MEN OF GOD.
TEXT FOR THE SERIES:
Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him: IF THOU CANST BELIEVE, all things are possible to him that believes. 24. And straight way the father of the child cried out, and said WITH TEARS, Lord, I believe; HELP THOU MINE UNBELIEF!
Psalms 68:1 Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered: 19 BLESSED BE THE LORD, WHO DAILY LOADETH US WITH BENEFITS, EVEN THE GOD OF OUR SALVATION.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you,
If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove yonder place; and it shall be moved; AND NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU. 21. Howbeit, this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Matthew 19: 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but WITH GOD all things are possible.
Mark 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for WITH GOD all things are possible.
Luke 1:37 For WITH GOD nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 18:27 And Jesus said: The things which are impossible with men ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD.
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Do we know our potential? Have we reached into the realm of Divine Possibilities?
I think not, we have dreamed, but our dreams are so small that we miss the potential of God.
B. Is God’s possibility beyond our hope? Will we reach beyond here?
C. Faith can enlarge us beyond our limitations.
D. Sometimes our dreams and visions have not been accomplished and we quit dreaming and then we allow our menial daily life to dictate to our dreaming ability. God does not want us to limit our possibilities because we have tasted defeat.
E. Defeat and failure must drive us to a greater dream.
II Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, TO SHOW HIMSELF STRONG in behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards
Him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
F.Strife and Wars come because we don’t believe the PROMISES of God.
There is a standing invitation, come and let God’s promises be loosed in your daily walk.
G. There is a prophetic message:
Blessed is he who expects nothing for he shall receive exactly what he expected.
II. WHAT IS THE MANTLE OF GOD?
A. Define MANTLE:
--- A loose sleeveless garment worn over other clothes.
--- A symbol of authority or championship.
--- A symbol of a covering or something that envelopes.
--- A gift, a call, to receive authority and power.
B. BLESS:
--- comes from the word BLESTSIAN ... from the word blood, the use of blood in consecration.
--- To hallow or consecrate by religious rite or word.
--- To invoke Divine care.
--- To render holy, sanctify.
--- To confer prosperity or happiness.
--- To protect and preserve.
C. REMEMBER WHEN THE CHILDREN OF GOD WERE IN THE WILDERNESS, THEIR CLOTHES NEVER WORE OUT, AND APPARENTLY THE CLOTHES GREW WITH THEM. GOD HAS A PLAN TO PROTECT, LEAD AND GUIDE US TO HIS HERITAGE, OUR HERITAGE.
III. IN THE BIBLE A MANTLE IS MORE THAN CLOTHES!
SAUL LACKS RESPECT FOR THE MAN OF GOD’S MANTLE.
A. Samuel was one of the greatest pastors and preachers of all times. Samuel served the Lord from early childhood to old age.
Samuel anointed the first two kings of Israel.
B. Saul was anointed the first king of Israel.
Saul had the greatest potential and for several years Saul walked among the Divine possibilities of his days.
God visited Saul.
Saul had a new heart and a new mind.
Saul was rebellious, he lied, and he blamed others.
I Samuel 10: 11 And it came to pass, when all that knew Saul beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another: What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
C. SAUL TOOK LIGHTLY THE MANTLE OF GOD. SAUL DID NOT OBEY GOD’S MAN. IN ANGER AS THE GREAT MAN OF GOD WALKED AWAY, SAUL DISRESPECTED THE MAN OF GOD AND THE PLAN OF GOD, AS HE RIPPED AWAY THE MANTLE OF GOD FROM THE MAN OF GOD.
I Samuel 15:27 And Samuel turned about to go away, Saul laid hold upon the skirt of HIS MANTLE, and it rent.
D. SOMETHING HAPPENED MORE THAN PULLING OFF THE PREACHERS COAT.
As the mantle was jerked off Samuel, THE KINGDOM WAS JERKED OUT OF SAUL’S POWER.
E. EVEN THE TORN MANTLE OF SAMUEL IS AVAILABLE TO US TODAY!
IV. THE MANTLE OF GOD CAN BE PASSED AND USED EVEN AFTER DEATH!
A. I AM LOOKING FOR GOD... A GREAT AND STRONG WIND RENT THE MOUNTAINS --- THAT WAS NOT GOD.
AN EARTHQUAKE ROCKS THE MOUNTAIN --- AND THAT WAS NOT GOD.
A FIRE BURNED AND DESTROYED THE MOUNTAIN --- AND THAT WAS NOT GOD.
I Kings 19:12 --- but the Lord was not in the fire,and after the fire A STILL SMALL VOICE.
I KINGS 13:19 AND IT WAS SO, WHEN ELIJAH HEARD IT, THAT HE WRAPPED HIS FACE IN THE MANTLE, AND WENT OUT, AND STOOD IN THE ENTERING IN OF THE CAVE. And behold there came a voice unto him, and said,
WHAT DOES THOU HERE ELIJAH?
B. LET US LOOK FOR A WAY TO PASS THE MANTLE OF GOD TO OTHERS.
I Kings 19:19 So Elijah departed thence and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and
ELIJAH PASSED BY HIM, AND CAST HIS MANTLE UPON ELISHA.
C. Thank God for those that teach and pass the mantle to others.
Accept God’s mantle for you!
Then develop a Divine Creative Plan that teaches the importance of our heritage and pass the MANTLE ON TO OTHER BELIEVERS.
V. I CAN’T GET THERE FROM HERE, I MUST DEPEND ON THE MANTLE OF MY HERITAGE.
A. THE MANTLE WAS LIKE A BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS.
GOD’S MANTLE IS PRACTICAL AND WONDERFUL.
II Kings 2:8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
B. We can stand over here and offer every excuse you can hide behind to stop you from walking into your heritage.
C. Quit offering excuses, and allow the Mantle of God to open Divine Possibilities.
VI. YOU ASK A HARD THING?
THE HERITAGE OF THE LORD OVERCOMES HARD THINGS!
II KINGS 2:9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10: And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
VII. THERE IS A TRAIL AND DIVINE PATH AND PLAN TO LEAD YOU TO YOUR DIVINE MANTLE.
YOU HAVE TO LEARN TO FOLLOW AND SERVE.
Getting to where you can receive the Divine Mantle takes faithfulness and not quitting in the little things.
A. GILGAL ( II Kings 2:1) rolling stones, no roots, lack of faithfulness.
You don’t have to follow the man of God with the plan of God, you can go home without God’s mantle if you want to?
B. BETHEL (II Kings 2:2) the house of prayer, the place of meeting God.
You don’t have to follow the man of God with the plan of God, you can go home without God’s mantle if you want to?
C. JERICHO (II Kings 2:4) sweet smell, wonderful fragrance, praise and worship.
You don’t have to follow the man of God with the plan of God, you can go home without God’s mantle if you want to?
D. JORDAN (II Kings 2:6) death, self sacrifice, giving, crucify.
You don’t have to follow the man of God with the plan of God, you can go home without God’s mantle if you want to?
ELISHA REFUSED TO GO HOME WITHOUT THE DIVINE HERITAGE AND MANTLE THAT WOULD RIGHTFULLY BE HIS.
VIII. THE MANTLE OF GOD WILL WORK FOR YOU AND YOURS!
II KINGS 2:13 -14 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14: And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went
over.
IX. GOD’S WONDERFUL PLAN FOR THE MANTLE WORKS BEYOND THE END OF OUR ABILITY!
II KINGS 13:21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold,they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulcher of Elisha:
and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
A. THE MANTLE OF GOD WORKS BEYOND THE GRAVE.
B. God’s plan for His Mantle is to know no boundaries or limitations.
X. WILL YOU FOLLOW THE FAITH AND GO AFTER OUR HERITAGE?
GOD’S PLAN HAS A MANTLE COVERING FOR YOU!
A. THERE IS NO RECORDED HISTORY OF ANYONE ASKING FOR ELIJAH’S, THEN ELIJAH’S MANTLE.
B. Elisha’s servant Gehazi was more interested in a popularity receiving ministry, and Gehazi received a large sum of money, and fancy clothes from Naaman.
But Gehazi also received the dreaded disease of leprosy.
C. Have we received God’s mantle for us? Are you passing the mantle on to others?
D. A MANTLE IS THE SYMBOL OF GOD’S DIVINE WILL FOR YOU AND OTHERS.
Please come to the altar of God and seek your heritage that belongs to you as a believer, it is your heritage.
