I used to watch both my grandmothers and my mom cook. It amazed me how my grandmothers could cook and never look at a recipe. My mom on the other hand, could hardly boil water without her recipe book. But after a long time she too had disposed of her cook book. But then my wife picked up the book and for many years after our marriage, she too used this book for many a filling and satisfying meal. But true to the tradition, after a time she too laid it aside.
I have found a formula that will bring revival to our church, our nation and to our own hearts. Just like baking a cake we have to have the right combination of ingredients to have success.
I. We must have a hunger for God.
A. Most of us don’t know what hunger is.
B. We know what a craving is. We will watch tv
and as soon as the commercials come on, we
go to the fridge.
C. Blessed are they that hunger for God for
they shall be filled.
D. We want God as much as we want food.
II. We must get honest with God.
A. We are told that we must deny self and take
up our cross and follow him.
B. There must be a complete opening up for God
to expose our sins.
C. For too long we have asked for God to reveal
wickedness to everyone but to ourselves.
D. I must realize that I am filled with sin.
a. If we say we have no sin, we are liars.
III. We must become humble before God.
A. God cannot and will not bless a mess.
B. Search me O God and see if there be some
wicked way in me.
C. I am a man of unclean lips.
