What It Means to Have Faith?
Pastor Jamie Wright * Maranatha Fellowship Church
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Faith is:
1. Believing when I don’t see it!
Vs. 1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
2. Obeying when I don’t understand it!
Vs. 8 “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
Genesis 12:4 “So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken.”
3. Giving when I don’t have it!
Vs. 4 “By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than…”
2 Corinthians 8:2-3 “…that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded riches of their liberality. For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing.”
4. Persisting when I don’t feel like it!
Vs. 27 “By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.”
