“OBTAINING OUR VICTORIES”
Intro: Why does it seem that we as Christians, sometimes face battles that are so imbearable to encounter and much more difficult to even go through. Our strength in God is shown by our willingness to face difficulties and to follow God’s leadership in overcoming them. Allowing God to direct us and lead us is putting our faith in the hands of God to bring us through.
Text: Psalms 44:1-8
Things don’t just happen by accident in a Christian’s life. God has an overall plan. Sometimes in our life, as Christians, we don’t understand and we stray but God knows where we are and is able to help us to make a way back. God has a divine plan, that though we walk through trials, he’s there

Every emergency God has a miracle and for every tragedy God has a victory. If we are in His will and that impossible situation arises in our life, God can and will deliver us, to show us His miracle hand and victory.
Romans 8:37 “Nay in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
We find in Judges that Israel is backed against the wall and seems to be in a hopeless situation. But when God got one to believe, He took courage and proceeded to go forth. God only needs one willing person to do what He has ask and God is able to do the rest. Because of this Israel saw victory.
Zechariah 4:6 “….Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord of host.”
The thing that wins victories in the battles that are faced, is determined by what kind of weapon that will be used. God never leaves us to go to do battle without giving us the proper weapons to take with us. David had a sling, Moses had a rod, Daniel had a prayer, Three Hebrews had a Word.
II Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds;”
What weapons did Gideon have to take and win the Battle:
I. BLOWING OF THE TRUMPET
A. We read in the Word where the trumpet was used for two different purposes, one for warning and the other for victory and rejoicing. The church today must sound the trumpet of warning to the enemy and let him know that we are taking it to battle and will win. - - - - - - - Numbers 10:1-10 - -- - - - -
B. The church today is in a fierce battle against the enemy and we have held back from sounding the trumpet of warning to the enemy. God will use us to go win the battle but we must be willing to use the weapons that God has given us to sound an alarm of warning to them.
I Corinthians 14:8 “For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?”
II Timothy 4:7 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
C. We like the ones in the days of the Old Testament, when the victory was made and the celebration of some kind was to happen, they sounded the trumpet. IT was a sign for them to rejoice for victory.
Isaiah 27:13 “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.”
II. BREAKING OF THE PITCHERS
A. In the battle of faith we are often taken by trying to overcome our SELF. When in battle, it is then that God chooses to break us of our self and allow him to given full reigns of ourlife. When we are broken, it is then that the battle or the war is able to be won by God and not us.
I Corinthians 11:24 “And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take eat this is my body which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
B. For us to win the battles that surround us we must break away from those things in our life that would distract us and keep us from winning the battle. By breaking away, we are able to give full attention to what God is doing to bring complete victory in our lives.
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of the sight to the blind, and to set at liberty them that are bruised.”
II Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.”
III. SHOUTING WITH VOICE OF TRIUMPH
A. Can you imagine that day when Israel began to blow their trumpets, break their pitchers and begin to shout with the voice of victory what happen to the people in Jericho. I can tell you that they were automatically defeated because they knew the signs, they each thought there is no reason to fight, because the battle is already won.
B. When we have obtained our victory, we must learn to shout for the glory of the Lord. WE MUST SHOUT IT OUT. I have seen people in the church defeated, discouraged and dismayed, that in a good service the Spirit of the Lord came upon them and they began to shout it out.
Psalms 47:1 “….Shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”
C. When the children of Israel had reach the other side of the shore and they were on dry ground, they all began to shout and sing for the glory of the Lord had brought them victory. When I reach the other shore and hear him say well done thy good and faithful servant, the song says, THERE”LL BE SHOUTING ON THE HILLS OF GLORY!!!!
II Thessalonians 4:16 “The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God;; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”
