Summary: Today life is crushing people with pressure and problems, God has a plan to develop us and grow us above the storm.

THE JANGLER? THE PRESSURE COOKER

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I have found out the the Jangler on a presser cooker is called a LUBBER!

Ecclesiastes 12 is a beautiful poetic story about life and the aging process.

There are several verses that have a hidden story about worry and stress:

Ecclesiastes 12:5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be

in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and

the desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets.

6. Or ever the silver cord be lossed, or the golden bowl be broken at the fountain, or the wheel

broken at the cistern.

7. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO DRINK FROM A FIRE HYDRANT?

Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and HE shall sustain thee...

1. THE JANGLER ON MOM’S PRESSURE COOKER.

My Mom was a good cook. In the summer, we would prepare food and then we would can the food.

This was a family affair, someone would wash the quart jars, others would break the beans, or grate the cabbage.

Then we would stuff the quart jars and load them in a BIG PRESSURE COOKER.

The canned food was delicious come cold winter.

Mom’s big pressure cooker had a gauge on top of it, we would watch the gauge the whole time

the cans were cooking. On top of the cooker was this thing we call THE JANGLER.

As the pressure would build up, the JANGLER would dance around and make a noise as it

released the excess pressure that would build up from the heat.

I don’t know what the real name of the JANGLER is? Up I know the cooker that would build up to

much pressure could be very dangerous. As a matter of fact my Aunt Norma had a pressure cooker

blow up and it burned her very bad.

Well, we don’t can food anymore, and we don’t use the pressure cooker around here. But seems,

I can close my eyes and remember the smell of the food cooking, and listen closely, you can hear

THE JANGLER as it shook back and forth and allowed the pressure to slowly and safely escape.

2. WE MUST DEVELOP A JANGLER IN OUR DAILY WORK AND WALK. DAILY MENTAL

VENTILATION.

If we are not careful we will be TROUBLED ON EVERY HAND.

Seems there are pressures real and imaginary all around us.

We are over scheduled! We don’t get enough rest! There are conflicts and confusion all around us.

There is a lack of understanding and selfishness smother most families and the church.

Anger is a work place problem. People are taking loaded guns to work and shooting those that they

have harbored a grudge against?

Schools have become gang controlled, and very little real learning occurs?

Churches can split over trivial pursuit, and bitterness can be very dangerous, hidden in the dirt of

daily life?

Families have discovered D-I-V-O-R-C-E is easier than resolve and correction.

Kids run away and seems manipulation is accepted as the norm.

Seems we are resistant to change?

I cannot over state the danger that stress exaggerates it’s self when man refuses to change.

How ignorant is the man that wants the world to change, and he stay the same?

3 HOW CAN WE FIND RELIEF? ARE WE LEARNING CREATIVE USE OF CONFLICT?

We cannot stop conflict, confusion, trials, troubles, and problems.

We are going to have to prepare our hearts to expect the negative drain of daily life,

and then develop and grow a strategy to overcome these pitfalls.

What makes some weak, will cause others to thrive.

There is a term used today: FUTURE SHOCK --- the shattering stress and disorientation that we

induce in individuals by subjecting them to too much pressure in too short of time.

4. DEFINE SOME WORDS:

Pressure: The constraint of circumstance, the force against or contrary, urgency demanding attention

Burden --- oppressive, worrisome, bearing a heavy load,

Mental cruelty -

Physical Distress

Weight of Position

Stress - Urgency

Demanding

Razor blade and sarcastic words

Abuse/Neglect.

5. MARTHA SEEMED TO BE TROUBLED BY MIS-INVESTED PRIORITIES...

Luke 10:38-42 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village:

and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39: And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus feet, and heard His word.

40: But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to Him, and said, Lord, dost thou not

care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me.

41: And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about

many things.

42: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away

from her.

God can help you! God can pop ideas into our heads and we can build wisely.

God can move suddenly, after the storm.

God can calm the storm, or maybe God wants to calm you in the storm.

Learn to practice daily mental ventilation, let go, and trust the Unseen Hand.
