I. We all want to be successful in life.
A. Success not found in riches.
B. Success not found in fame.
C. Success not found in power.
D. Success only found in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:20 "To Him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations foreve and ever Amen."
II. Success is found in Attitude.
A. Things happen to us in life, our attitude
determines how we will respond.
B. An American businessman visiting Hong Kong was
walking through the downtown streets looking
at all the different little shops, when he
came across a tatoo shop. He began looking at
the different tatoos and noticed one that
read "Born To Lose." He asked the store
owner "Does anyone really ever buy that
tatoo?" The store owner replied, "Yes,
sometimes, but before tatoo on skin, tatoo on
mind."
C. Too many people have a loser attitude that
shows up in how they live their lives.
D. In survey after survey employers report that
when choosing between two equally qualified
candidates, the most important factor is
attitude. In fact employers said they would
hire someone was a little less qualified if
they had a great attitude.
E. Philippians 2:5 "Have the attitude of Christ."
III. Success is found in Belief.
A. We must believe that Jesus is Lord.
We must believe that God will do what he says
he will do.
B. In 1519 a man sat in Spain listening to
stories of great Aztec treasure in South
America that was could not be taken by
anyone. Cortez thought he could take it. So
he set sail with an army of boats. They
anchored in South America and unloaded the
boats. As they unloaded them Cortez walked up
and down the beach shore telling them "We will
take this treasure!" The night before the
attack Cortez instructed his men "Burn the
boats!" His men stared at him in
disbelief. "We will sail home in their
boats." So they stood on the shore and
watched their boats burn. Then the next day
they marched into the jungle believing in
their mission. They took the treasure and
went home in the Aztec boats.
C. Belief and faith in God causes men to do great
things.
1. David takes on Goliath.
2. Daniel goes in the lions den.
3. Joshua marches around Jericho.
4. Jesus dies on the cross.
IV. Success comes from commitment.
A. We must be committed to Christ.
B. Jesus challenged us to take up our cross.
C. Athletes change teams, marriages end,
companies short their employees, families
betray one another. Commitment is in short
supply today. But praise God that Jesus
remains totally committed to you and I.
He challenges us to do the same for Him.
