Zacharus went out on a limb to see Jesus.
Most today will not venture their neck or nothing for spiritual success. So we find failure on earth.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?
IF YOU DON’T KNOW LIFE’S PURPOSE HOW CAN YOU ACCOMPLISH IT?
Nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose --- a point on which the soul shall fix its intellectual eye.
The secret of success is consistency to purpose. Life must have purpose and passion.
THE HARVEST IS PAST, THE SUMMER IS ENDED, AND WE ARE NOT SAVED! Jeremiah 8:20
THE PREACHER HAD A VERY UNPOPULAR MESSAGE.
THE CROWD WANTED AND DEMANDED A MESSAGE THAT WAS PLEASANT!
THERE WERE A GROUP OF PREACHERS TO PROCLAIM WHAT THE PEOPLE DEMANDED TO HEAR!
YET, KING AHAB WILL ANSWER UNTO GOD JUST AS THE PREACHER DECLARED!
Micaiah was clearly told by God to warn Ahab the King of Israel that death and doom was ahead,
unless the nation repented and changed.
King Ahab had ruled as a very wicked and self indulgent King. Ahab and his wife, Jezebel, were spoiled and rotten.
They chose sin and to the eye it seemed they were prospering. Ahab could throw a temper fit and get his way.
Everyone bowed and caved into this powerful ruler, but God had a man, Micaiah, to stand up and use his voice to declare judgment was coming. The dogs were coming.
Micaiah declared, The dogs will lick your and Jezebel’s blood, the innocent will be revenged!
The King hired some polished preachers to preach what he wanted to hear.
All the King’s men would gather around to hear the Positive Spin Preachers say, it is OK, God understands,
DO YOUR THING and GOD WILL BLESS YOU!
WHEN YOU DON’T LIKE THE MESSAGE, YOU WILL NOT LIKE THE MESSENGER.
In anger Ahab had the Negative Preacher locked up in prison.
Ahab warned Micaiah, the Preacher, I will deal with you when I return from this battle. 1 Kings 22:27.
1 King 22:28 Micaiah said, IF YOU AHAB RETURN AT ALL IN PEACE, the Lord hath not spoken by me.
IF YOU ARE SO RIGHT AND I WONDER WHY DO YOU NEED TO DISGUISE YOUR SELF?
WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO DISGUISE YOURSELF?
1 Kings 22:30 And the King of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I WILL DISGUISE MYSELF, AND ENTER THE BATTLE; but put thou on thy robes. And the King of Israel DISGUISED himself and went into battle.
DISGUISE:
To change what is customary in dress or appearance.
To obscure the existence or true state or character.
To try to mislead by representing a difference.
AHAB NEVER LEARNED THE DIFFERENCE IN WHITE WASHING AND WASHING WHITE?
Many know how to whitewash, to gloss over or to cover up.
I went to LMU, from 1970 to 1974. I had a friend from Dayton, Ohio. We were required to take Physical Education for the
Educational Degree’s we were working to achieve. After class, this young man would go in the locker room, open a jar of
OLD SPICE, and pour the perfume scent all over him. The rest of us would shower. He saved time and the effort of showering.
For several days he would not shower but poured on the OLD SPICE.
After several weeks, everyone avoided this brilliant young man. The skunks would have avoided him!
You can cover up dirt with a good smell, but eventually what is covered up will stink.
I know many that spiritually never say: I am sorry! I am wrong! Forgive me!
They try and disguise who and what they really are.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside
every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set beofre us.
We must correct and discipline not just accept sin, but we must lay aside every weight that might become an obstacle
or hindrance to the word of God and the work of God.
QUE SERA SERA, WHAT WILL BE WILL BE?
1 Kings 22: 34 And a certain man drew a bow AT A VENTURE, and smote the King of Israel between the joints of
the harness: wherefore The King said to the driver of his chariot, TURN thine hand, and CARRY me out of the host;
FOR I AM WOUNDED.
Ahab had made many poor choices. Death and pain had followed his reign. Ahab slid many years. It appeared this wicked
man would get away with his selfishness and sensual life choices.
MAN’S DISGUISES WILL NEVER FOOL GOD!
GOD KNOWS HOW TO TEAR THE MASKS OFF.
Just watch a person in times of trouble, woe, trial, peril and adversity --- YOU WILL SEE WHAT KIND OF MAN HE IS!
God knows how to draw truth out of the depths of the heart of a man, the mask is torn off and the truth and reality remain
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN THE BATTLE INCREASES?
1 Kings 22: 35 AND THE BATTLE INCREASED THAT DAY: and the King was stayed in the chariot, ---
and he died at even: and THE BLOOD RAN OUT OF THE WOUND into the midst of the chariot.
JUST AS THE REAL PREACHER PREDICTED
1 Kings 22:38 And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the DOGS LICKED UP HIS BLOOD; and
they washed the King’s armor; ACCORDING UNTO THE WORD OF THE LORD WHICH HE SPAKE.
WE NEED A PLAN TO REACH BEYOND THE REACH OF OUR HANDS!
STRATEGY:
We need a course of action to take the Gospel to others!
The science and art of bringING together maximum support to the plan or policies.
A careful plan or method.
Style used in attaining an end.
Science of making plans.
STRATAGEM:
To outwit the enemy.
Something that gets the job done.
WE DON’T PLAN TO FAIL; WE FAIL TO PLAN --- AND FAILURE LURKS CLOSE BEHIND!
Much of God’s work seems to develop without a plan and without a purpose.
We move in unforeseen and unplanned circumstances and every now and then we catch a fish.
The work of the Lord must be more than chance. We must grow intention and a spirit of necessity.
Carelessness and ignorance could possibly allow many of our friends and family to go to hell and a
leave a trail of many tears.
Progress must be more than an accident, it must be a necessity to the church.
Progress and growth may not always be nature.
HEAR THE STORY OF THE METAL AND MENTAL BARS OF A BROWN BEAR FROM THE USSR!
One day while out in the wilderness of the USSR, some young men ran across a baby brown bear.
The cub was beautiful and very playful. They were afraid the Momma bear would come and hurt them.
After several hours the men noticed the baby cub was hungry, and there was no Momma bear.
They fed the cub and cared for it.
One day a man from a little circus had heard about the brown bear cub and approached the young men
about selling the baby bear to him for the circus. The monetary offer was pretty good, so they sold the baby bear to the circus owner.
The circus owner took his new pride and joy and went to a welding shop.
They welded a very heavy duty cage for this baby bear. The cage was 10 feet long and 10 feet wide.
The little bear had plenty of room to move back and forth. The owner fed the little bear and they traveled all over the USSR selling tickets. Thousands of people watched the little bear pace back and forth in the 10 by 10 cage on wheels.
The bear grew and grew. The bear soon weighed over 1,000 pounds. All day and night the bear paced 10 feet across and 10 feet in the cage. People became very mean to the bear. They would throw broken bottles in the cage, and as the bear paced 10 feet and turned to pace 10 feet he cut the bottoms of the pads on his feet. The big brown bear started showing terrible scars. People would burn the bear with cigarettes, and the bear would just pace.
The bear had never been out of the 10 by 10 cage that was made for him. He would just pace 10 feet and turn and pace 10 feet. The cage had become a terrible confinement. The bear was unhappy and trapped in this little square of captivity.
This is all the bear ever knew. The bear could not remember freedom and the wild.
One day the old man that had made his living showing the brown bear died and his estate auctioned off the bear.
A little zoo purchased the big bear, they had a beautiful facility built for the bear. They released him in this roomy new home, and the big brown bear just paced 10 feet and turned and paced 10 feet back. The bear never stepped beyond the limitations he had known for 20 years. The zoo keepers had to put the bears food in the 8 by 12 area.
The bear appeared sick.
A wealthy American had heard about this beautiful brown bear and thought they could use the bear in Alaska to help father many little brown bears in the freedom of Alaska’s vast wild life reserve.
They loaded the brown bear onto a truck and took him to the airport. The bear was put to sleep and when he had awakened he would be free, free at last.
The plane landed and the bear was loaded onto a truck and taken to a holding pen. The bear just paced 10 ft. and turned and paced 10 ft back. The bear was given royal treatment and saw some of the best vets in America. The bear was declared to be in perfect health and condition.
So one day the truck took the big brown bear to the game reserve and his final day of captivity was there.
The truck backed into an area where there were over 15 wild brown female bears.
The release was accomplished. Every few days an observer noted that the brown bear would just pace 10 feet and turn and march 10 feet. The bear could not see --- HE WAS FREE, FREE ---The bear never noticed the other bears, all he knew in life was the cage and humans.
Finally one day, a ranger loaded his gun and went to the reserve. He watched the bear pace 10 feet and then turn and march 10 feet, with tears in his eyes, the man had to put the brown bear to sleep.
The bear had known metal bars until the metal bars became mental bars.
OFTEN WE LIVE LIKE A WILD ANIMAL LIVING IN THE WOODS.
We have become accustomed to living in the woods, and we have been brought up in a mindset of imprisonment and servitude and we have accidentally found the liberty of the cross. While we search for our food, we often become our own prey
Often what may appear chance and accident may spring from the deepest Divine source of a God that loves and cares.
It is a bad plan that cannot be changed or modified.
You have a good plan if you learn from others.
CHAOS IS CURABLE. CHAOS IS WHAT MAN SEES! GOD DOES NOT SEE CHAOS! GOD HAS A PLAN---
YOU ARE HIS PLAN.
ROMANS 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.
WE ARE NOT PAST CURE! WE ARE NOT PAST HOPE! WE ARE NOT PAST HELP!
The mill cannot grind with water that has already passed over the dam.
The devil can quote scriptures for his purpose.
ARE WE TRAPPED TODAY? IS OUR PAST DICTATING OUR FUTURE?
When the enemy reminds you of your past tell him his future.
Bury the past or it will bury you.
We are letting our past plan our future, this is a bad mistake!
A minute’s success pays the failure of many years.
DON’T WAIT ON AN ACCIDENTAL MINISTRY!
Ministry must be more than by chance. Sure, we can unintentionally minister to others, but we need a positive plan
to reach to others, Don’t keep taking a shot in the dark. Pray, study God’s word, join the church, and let God use you!
Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life: and HE THAT WINNETH SOULS IS WISE!
Matthew 4:19 And Jesus said, FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE YOU FISHERS OF MEN!
GOD GIVE US A PASSIONATE ANXIETY FOR THOSE GOING TO HELL!
MAY OUR DESIRE BE TO MAKE PRIORITIES AND ESTABLISH OUR DESIRES TO DROP EVERYTHING
UNTIL WE SEE SOULS SAVED AND COMING TO KNOW JESUS AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOR.
WHERE IS OUR BURDEN?
Will we be willing to leave the comfort of the 99 for the one in the thorns?
May our targets not be accidental but because we have a plan.
