19. The way of the eagle in the air; the way of the serpent upon a rock; the way of the ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
FREEDOM OF CHOICE
True happiness consist not of things or friends but of the worth of choices and attitudes.
We make our choice in friends and enemies?
The choice of a point of view is our initial action.
TURKEY? VS. EAGLE? CHOICES?
DEFINE ATTITUDE:
---Position --- Mental position with regard to a
fact
---a feeling or emotion toward a fact ---
--- a negative or hostile state of mind ---
Life is a battle of attitudes.
Some see things as they are and ponder, WHY?
Others ponder Why not? And How can I accomplish this?
Professional Sports Draft...
All the players come with about the same skills. Every candidate comes on about the same skill level.
The scouts approach the draftees with several thoughts:
1. Who will fit in with our system?
2. Who can be a team player and play not just to their ability, but fit in with the vision and plan of the whole?
3. Some players come with a winning attitude. THEY CAN WIN A CONFERENCE TITLE, BUT THEY DON’T THINK
THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO REPEAT!
A good way to define a person’s character would be to know their MORAL and MENTAL ATTITUDE.
The inside says: THIS IS THE REAL ME!
Attitude of how we look at things?
1. Look away? Ignore all you reject? Deny? Blow smoke?
2. Look toward? Fruits? Consequences?
TURKEYS SEE THE PROBLEM? Scratch in the dirt?
EAGLES SEE THE PROMISE AS THE SOLUTION! Soar in the sky!
LET US STUDY A MAN NAMED CALEB...
THEORY, PRACTICAL, ACTUAL...
Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite
Caleb was from a little family that had never achieved much fame or fortune.
Caleb was 1 of the 12 spies.
Caleb never had a real reason to claim his mountain.
Caleb was courageous.
EAGLE! --- I TELL YOU --- YOU CAN DO IT! GOD SAID WE CAN! SO WE CAN!
Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and
possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
TURKEY! --- I TOLD YOU, WE CAN’T DO IT.
31: But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are
stronger than we.
TURKEYS SEE WHAT WE CAN’T DO!
EAGLES SEE WHAT GOD CAN DO!
TURKEY ---THE ATTITUDE --- WE CAN’T DO IT IS CONTAGIOUS!
32: And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of
Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants
thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
TURKEY OR EAGLE! --- HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF IS REFLECTIVE! (I USE A MIRROR HERE.)
33: And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants; and we were in our own
sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
TURKEY! --- DEPRESSION BREEDS DEPRESSION! NEGATIVE WORDS BREED NEGATIVE ACTIONS!
Numbers 14:1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
EAGLE! --- THE GOOD NEWS IS THE BAD NEWS IS NOT THE TRUTH!
You cannot beat negative attitudes, you overwhelm them, or you out live them.
EAGLE! --- A DIFFERENT ATTITUDE!
Numbers 14:24 But my servant Caleb because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me
fully, him will I bring into the land where into he went; and his seed shall possess it.
TURKEY VS. EAGLE? IT IS ALL A MATTER OF CHOICES! SIMPLE CHOICES?
Numbers 32:12 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have
wholly followed the Lord.
CALEB HAD A DIFFERENT ATTITUDE.
Deut. 1:36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath
trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the Lord.
Joshua 14: 12- 13 -14 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou
heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the
Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.
13: And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14: Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day,
because that he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.
CALEB KNEW LIFE IS MORE THAN JUST ATTITUDE, IT IS ATTITUDE IN ACTION! CALEB SAW THE PROMISE!
Jud 1:20 And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said; and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.
Joshua 15:14 And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the
children of Anak.
WHY CAN’T WE SEE GOD AS GOD? WHY DO WE SEE GOD’S ABILITY THROUGH OUR LIMITATIONS?
We focus on human ability and make light of THE DIVINE PLAN WITHOUT LIMITATIONS.
TURKEYS SEE THE PROBLEM? Can we understand price? value? worth?
EAGLES SEE THE PROMISE AS THE SOLUTION!
BOTH REPORTS --- THE NEGATIVE AND THE PROMISE ARE BEFORE US!
WE MUST LEARN TO CONTROL OUR FOCUS! SEE GIANTS OR SEE GOD?
MAN’S EYES VS GOD’S PROMISE?
IT WILL BE YOUR DECISION OF WHICH REPORT YOU WILL BELIEVE AND ACCEPT THAT WILL
DEVELOP YOUR MINDSET!
TURKEY sees leadership as threat, and threatens to quit:
Numbers 14:2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the
whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would
God we had died in this wilderness!
EAGLE:
Numbers 14:8 -9 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us a land
which floweth with milk and honey.
9: Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread
for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us; fear them not.
WHAT CAN KILL THE EAGLE?
AN ARROW FEATHERED WITH ONE OF THE EAGLE’S OWN PLUMES?

CALEB KNEW HIS CHOICE WOULD REACH TO HIS CHILDREN!
Deut. 1:36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath

BEFORE THE SATELLITE, INDIANS WATCHED THE EAGLE TO SEE IF A STORM WAS DEVELOPING!
The eagle would soar higher and higher, and ride above the storm until the storm passed.
Caleb claimed HIS mountain --- while others claim their valley.
THE STORY OF THE UGLY BABY, BIG CHICKEN.
One day the farmer was out near the hen house. The farmer noticed this big, ugly chicken
outside the lot. The farmer picked up the big ugly chicken and threw him back into the chicken lot.
The farmer often noticed how peculiar this big, ugly chicken acted. But the big bird soon learned how
to scratch in the dirt for it’s food.
The big bird grew AND GREW, HE BECAME THE BIGGEST CHICKEN ON THE LOT.
This big bird was crazy and acted crazy. He was the craziest chicken the farmer had ever seen.
One day the game warden was driving by, he was so surprised when he saw the big bird in the chicken lot.
He stopped his jeep and ran toward the farmer.
The game warden screamed there is an eagle in with your chickens.
The farmer laughed, Naw, it is just a big ugly chicken!
The ranger said, NO! IT IS AN EAGLE.
The farmer said, Naw! It is a big, ugly, stupid chicken.
The ranger said, I will prove to you this is an eagle.
So the ranger grabbed the big bird and climbed up the ladder in the barn.
Once he was in the hay loft the ranger released the bird, and it slowly fell to the ground and started scratching
in the dirt.
The farmer said, See, I told you it was a chicken!
The ranger asked, Will you sell me that chicken?
The farmer said, Sure!
How much do you want for the eagle?
The farmer said, I get $2.00 per chicken.
So the ranger said, Tomorrow, I will come and pick up the eagle.
The farmer said, The chicken is yours, do as you want.
The ranger came early the next morning, he loaded the big, ugly, stupid chicken in a cage in the back of
his jeep.
The ranger drove for several hours, climbing higher and higher up a mountain.
Finally, the ranger reached the pinnacle of the mountain, it was a cliff dropping many hundred feet.
The ranger unloaded the cage and took the big, ugly, stupid bird out of the cage.
The ranger held the big bird high in the wind, and the ranger said, We will see if you are a chicken or an eagle?
The ranger forcibly threw the big bird over the cliff, the bird fluttered his wings, and fell 50 feet, 100 feet.
Then out came the wings, the wind was blowing, the big chicken started feeling a new feeling!
The bird started circling and he loved this new feeling, he started climbing higher and higher.
The last time the ranger saw the eagle it was soaring hundreds of feet in the air.
You see he was an eagle, he just didn’t know it.
He had a chicken’s heart, the wind launched him into what God had intended him.
He was never a chicken, he was an eagle.
Perhaps you need to launch into the plan and purpose of God for you!
SUCCESS --- PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT TO WHAT GOD WANTS.
DO WE WANT WHAT GOD WANTS ---
GOD WANTS YOU TO WANT WHAT GOD WANTS ---
CALEB HAD TO SEE IT! SAY IT! WHEN ALL WAS NEGATIVE AND GLOOM!
Caleb had the keys to the mountain --- OCCUPY WHAT YOU OWN.
You are not a turkey! You are an eagle! Fly! Fly high!
