Let us study how we can make a mess out of our life’s.
I.TO HELP MESS UP YOUR LIFE READ THE TV GUIDE AND READERS’ DIGEST AND SPORTS ILLUSTRATED.
If you want to mess up your life and your family and have a weak anemic church, don’t read your Bible!
We read the TV preachers’ books, we listen to the tapes of successful individuals, we buy video tapes of great polished, edited singing, we go to seminars and learn the HOW TO’s, we take classes, we have many commentaries by the GREAT of their days, we read about the preachers’ of the past and how wonderful they were, we try to compete with Hollywood and Dollywood, but we are very weak in the word of God.
Our kids know more about Bert and Ernie, Purple Barney, Bob the Builder, Sponge Bob, Spiderman, Superman, and Santa Claus than they know the stories of eternal value from the Bible.
Young people can sing the lyrics of this world’s songs and sing the tunes of many commercials. I recently read that a commercial never really entered into the mind of the beholder until they had seen the same commercial 5 times. These same young people know all the secret paths and tricks of the computer games where they can spend endless hours
doing things that are absolutely worthless.
Many young people can know for facts every deviation that a Pokemon character can transform, and know very little about the heroes of the faith of the Bible. Kids can spout off the phone numbers of 20 friends and family. They have their own beepers and cell phones and can maneuver the Internet with great success, but their heads are full of ill advised selfishness. The Word of God does the work of God.
Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.
When temptation knocks the Word of God must answer. The Word of God has little power unless a human reads it and acts by faith upon the Word!
David learned a great answer --- the only way to overcome the world is by the Word of God.
Psalms 119:12 Thy Word have I hid in mine heart , that I might not sin against God.
There is a secret that few learn, you will never arise in public greater than you are in your private devotion closet!
We heard about a lady that read her Bible faithfully several times a day. Many years she had prayed for her husband to know Jesus as his Savior and Lord. The lady had serious eye surgery and could not see to read for several months.
The lady was very mad at God for loosing her eye sight and not being able to read her dearly beloved Word of God.
One day her husband of many years came in and said, Dear I know how you love to read the Bible, and I promise you, until you can read it again, I will read it to you.
The next Sunday, he said, Honey, I will take you to church. He did. Daily, when he came in from work he read the precious book to his precious wife. He saw where she had high lighted,
he read her little notes of learning, and he read the word of God to her.
One day as he was reading the Word, the Word grabbed his heart and he started crying, and he decided he would serve
Jesus the rest of his life. In her blindness, he received his sight. What was terrible to the old lady became an answer to
her prayer life? All of this because the Word of God is powerful and quicker than any two-edged sword.
Psalms 107:20 He sent His Word, and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.
There are many benefits to reading, studying, and knowing the Word of God.
If you want to mess up your life and your family and have a weak anemic church, don’t read your Bible!
Healing can be hidden within the Word of God! Deliverance from destruction can be found in the power of God’s book!
Notice the verse, it says: destructions ... plural, many, every battle and failure can be traced back to a lacking of understanding and knowledge and wisdom of the Bible.
Have you ever heard a sermon where the newspapers, magazines, and quotes of TV preachers’ become the text?
Have you ever heard someone preach a sermon that came in the mail?
II. HOW CAN I MAKE A MESS OF MY LIFE? AVOID SELF DISCIPLINE AT ALL COST! LET YOUR EYES AND HEART
DICTATE TO YOUR SPIRIT MAN. THERE IS A PATH THAT LEADS DOWNWARD? LET US PRETEND THAT THE
WORLD TRADE CENTERS STILL REACHED THE SKYLINE OF NEW YORK CITY?
COULD YOU PLACE A SECURE TIGHT ROPE ACROSS FROM ONE TOWER TO THE OTHER AND WALK
ACROSS?
Sure? Maybe? With practice? With skill you could walk across a tight rope between the towers? Sure, man could do it?
But real intelligence might be in not trying?
Judges 14:1 And Samson WENT DOWN To Timnath, AND SAW A WOMAN of the daughters of the Philistines.
Samson would not listen to his Mom and Dad’s teachings? Samson would not follow the teachings of the church in his day? Samson could not see the importance of little things. Samson felt that the rules of proper procedures was too restrictive
Never date who would not make a great mate! A poor dating process initializes a poor marriage? Because of poor choices, we can really mess up our life and many others. There will come a testing. We must see beyond our eyes.
Judges 14:2 And Samson came up and told his Father and his Mother --- NOW GET HER FOR ME! NOW!
3. Samson is warned, yet HE WANTS HIS CHOICE HIS WAY! Samson, you are getting ready to mess up!
Samson’s Dad asked isn’t there a woman from within the plan of God, the circumcised covenant people of God...?
Samson makes a demand... GET HER FOR ME, FOR SHE PLEASES ME WELL!
Samson had several powerful opportunities to correct his poor choices and correct the problems he had grown.
But Samson learned to BLAME OTHERS and he learned how to pass the buck AND IGNORE THE FACTS THAT
CHOICES CAN COST DEARLY!
One day soon, Samson is going to wake up a prisoner in the enemy’s camp and the power of God is gone. Samson
had made poor choices and he will pay a dear price. What could have been, if Samson had not messed up his life?
Samson saw more when he was blind than when he could see! Why mess up in a lack of vision?
We don’t like the words of duty, responsibility, discipline, accountability. Good discipline is not just punishment, it assures you of your sonship in Jesus. Are you looking for a Heavenly Father to correct, reprove, rebuke, mold, instruct,
train and perfect you? Or are you looking for a Heavenly Grandpa that will let you slide and give you candy until your teeth rot?
III. HOW CAN I MESS UP MY LIFE? HANG YOURSELF! THE LESSON OF HAMAN! HATE AND BE BITTER!
HAMAN IS A MAN WE MEET IN THE BOOK OF ESTHER.
Haman was very successful in life and had achieved what few ever dream. He was rich, powerful and a man of great fame.
The sad story of Haman is while he had everything, he was not happy. Haman hated the Man of God, thus Haman hated the Word of God. Haman was not only a hatred driven man, he was very bias and prejudice.
Haman built a gallows about six stories high. Haman had the money and power to kill his enemies and teach them a great
lesson. Haman stood back and watched the high tower of hatred grow, but Haman had yet one more great lesson to learn.
Esther 9: 13 reads a very sad story for this great man, the tower he built to kill his enemies became a terrible nightmare.
Haman stood on top of the gallows, and there he watched his 10 precious sons die, and as the sun sets in the West, there are 11 dead bodies? Haman joined his sons in this horrible day of death?
Why Haman? How did you make a mess of your life?
Poor Haman, he appeared rich, but he was very poor, because he messed up his life with HATRED, Hurt, Bitterness, and OFFENSE, I WARN YOU TODAY: TAKE HEED, HATRED IS NOT HOLY, AND DEATH WILL HANG YOU IN
YOUR OWN TRAP!
In 1492 , the Fourth Earl of Salisbury has been recorded as the first man to shoot a cannon. History also records another
fact about this Earl: he was the first man killed by a cannon.
Many traps of life are self inflicted, life has a MIRROR EFFECT. Life has a BOOMERANG effect, so if you want to make a mess of your life judge and hate others. Be bitter and angry, don’t forgive and THROW UP THE VOMIT PAST?
YOU CAN BE SET FREE! IF YOU WANT TO BE.
On my last trip to Alabama, I was traveling on a silver Eagle to minister at several churches. I met a lady. She was so sad.
She hated life. She hated morning, she hated night. 10 years prior, her son was killed by a woman in the parking lot of Kmart. She hated the lady, she hated the police, she hated the judge and hatred was killing her. We talked several hours.
We discussed the murderer, and how the murderer was locked up in jail. But, I had to point out to her, she too was locked into a prison of hatred. The murderer could be paroled, she would stay in jail. We cried together, and as she released the pain and bitterness, a new countenance came upon her. You could see the difference, because she set herself free.
IV. REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE? WE DON’T KNOW HER NAME, BUT SHE PROVIDES A GREAT LESSON IN MESSING
UP A LIFE! JUST LINGER A LITTLE LONGER, PLAY A LITTLE MORE!
Few Old Testament women make it into the New Testament. One of the few is Lot’s wife.
Luke 17:32 Remember Lot’s wife?
Genesis 19 bears record of a life in a mess, and then a family in a mess..
Lot had made a choice to seek the bright lights of the city, the SIN CITY, to raise his family.
Many years down the road this choice will end up in a mess. Lot, nor his wife, nor his daughters wanted to leave the
city now famous for sin. They wanted to linger a little longer. Uncle Abraham had interceded for Lot’s family.
The warning was clear, get out and DON’T LOOK BACK.
Genesis 19:26 But Lot’s wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Can I suggest something to you? I think the judgment came not just because Lot’s wife looked back, but rather --- because there was something back there she loved? She had a heart that loved the path of sin? You talk about a mess.
Poor old Lot ends up in Zoar, which means LITTLE. He Fathers his own grandchildren,
what a mess? Daddy -Grandfather?
Go ahead play your little games, but the mess is ahead! We are headed toward a serious mess, as long as we desire TOYS and not TOOLS! While we must live in the world, the world must not live in us!
V. YOU WANT A MESS? BE A QUITTER! THIS IS TOO HARD, LET US QUIT, GROWING A RUN AWAY SPIRIT.
I have no idea who first said: WHEN THE GOING GETS TUFF, THE TUFF GET GOING!
They are from a different planet than earth. What I have learned is that when the going gets tuff, we quit!

There had been free fish, free bread, there had been many visible healings, but when the WALK OF GOOD FEELINGS stopped, and the WALK OF FAITH STARTED, many developed a RUN AWAY SPIRIT.
Have you ever noticed a dead fish can swim down stream? <*(((((>< ?
We must learn to expect adversity! We must learn to thrive during the battle! You must learn to trust God and look for the way of escape. You are not the problem! You and God are the solution. God can open your creative mind.
I love to see people that are doing something, as they pass those that say "IT CAN’T BE DONE!"
You can do it, if you want to? DO YOU WANT TO? Getting licked in life can be part of life. Get up and go again.
VI. YOU WANT A MESS? THROW MORE DIRT! MORE DIRT MAKES BIGGER MESSES!
I often say: IF YOU ARE THE ONE THROWING DIRT, YOU ARE THE ONE LOOSING GROUND!
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IN A MOLEHILL AND A MOUNTAIN IS HOW MUCH DIRT THERE IS INVOLVED.
One of the greatest spiritual discoveries you can make is very simple: any generation can learn,
A HUMAN BEING CAN ALTER HIS LIFE BY CHANGING HIS ATTITUDE.
What we call adversity, God calls opportunities. Great test? Great testimonies? Great messes? Great messages?
Scientist record that the average man uses less than 15% of his mind, 85% is never touched or used.
Yet, we want to tell God with our little 15% of our mind, He doesn’t know what He is doing? We need to grow up!
Do we want to play the fiddle while Rome burns? You talk about a mess?
Many pray for the blessings of God! This is a wrong approach, we must seek the GOD of the blessings!
You are not waiting on God! God is waiting on you! Opportunities favorite disguise can be trouble.
Quit focusing on the negative! Quit giving ear to the whiners and critics!
VII. YOU WANT A MESS, DON’T BE A PRAYER WARRIOR , AN INTERCEDER! WHAT WILL BE WILL BE?
Are we willing to PRAY THE PRICE? PrayER is more than God hearing us, prayer is homing our skills and
learning how to submit to God’s plan. There is never a revival without GREAT prayer!
The difference between nosiness and noisy words and godly advise is the Word and prayer...
It is prayer or the lack of prayer that brings life or death.
Good prayer is more than a wish list to a Santa Claus, good prayer is volunteering for active duty.
What you gain by intercession, you keep by intercession.
If youR day is hemmed in prayer, it is very unlikely to become unraveled.
God’s help is only a prayer away! America needs a FAITH LIFT!
I love the line, if you can’t sleep, don’t count sheep, talk to the Shepherd!
VIII. WANT TO MAKE A MESS --- NEVER SET ANY PRIORITIES OR MAKE ANY PLANS, NOT
KNOWING YOUR ASSIGNMENT.
Life can be like a pocket with a hole in it, you can lose and not even know it.
Many things in life are absolutely worthless, and you can invest all your time, talent, and energy into worthless,
no return avenues. We drift aimlessly in shallow waters, as we head toward eternity at 1440 minutes per day!
The road to success is always under construction, so if you want little give little. Seems we bless the most when we bleed.
Do you want to always ride your bicycle with training wheels in place? We must let go to receive?
To few of us are BIG enough to become small enough to be used of God! Now, if you want to mess up
your life, chase the lottery! Life is a great, vast banquet and we are sitting around starving to death, just skin and bones, devouring each other.
Are we looking for a prophet or a parrot? We must grow a new vision! Many have grown a loosing attitude and
they never expect a victory!
IX. WANT A BIG MESS --- NEVER FINISH ANYTHING!
Do you know how to complete or perfect something?
Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that
I MIGHT FINISH MY COURSE WITH JOY, AND THE MINISTRY, which I have received of the Lord Jesus...
How many drop out of school? We call a GED the same as a high school education? How many drop out of college?
How many watch other people and drop out of church? Your life will forever be a mess until you make yourself learn to finish. There are two sad classes of people: 1) Those that never try; 2) Those that never learn how to finish.
God help us learn how to finish WITH JOY!
X. WHILE WE HAVE MADE A STUDY AT HOW TO MESS UP YOUR LIFE AND YOUR FAMILY, REMEMBER, IT IS EASIER TO MAKE A MESS THAN IT IS TO CLEAN UP A MESS. YOU DON’T HAVE TO DEVELOP A PLAN TO MESS UP YOUR MINISTRY OR MESS UP YOUR FAMILY. MAKING A MESS CAN BE AN ACCIDENT OR MAKING A MESS CAN BE THE RESULTS OF DOING NOTHING.
The five foolish virgins were virgins and pure, their mess came by neglect not abuse.
May God give you vision to see beyond today the consequences of your choices.
May God never say: Remember --- and your name!
