Spiritual Grown and Fitness
The Bible
2 Timothy 2:15
Testimonies
Review Last week,
There are three essential things for a person to grow up healthy. (We want to be healthy, don’t we?)
(Ask)
Food
Exercise
Rest
These must be kept in balance.
-Too much food we get fat, not enough we get weak.
-Too much exercise without food is not good.
-Too much rest is just being lazy.
Vitamin B – The Bible
1. We are commanded to study the Scripture. 2 Tim. 2:15
A.Everyone should have a plan to study the Bible on
their own.
-Not just hear it at church or on the radio and TV.
B.How?
1)Read it.
-1 Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance
to reading
-Have a plan….(chapters, devotionals, etc.)
2)Meditate on it. (think about it.) Joshua 1:8
3)Memorize it.
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine
heart, that I might not sin against thee.
4)Apply it – Do what it says.
Psalms 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man
cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to
thy word.
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
2. It is by the word of God that we can grow.
-1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk
of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
-Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an
inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
-We do not grow on church attendance alone.
-You don’t get your vitamins by just going to the
grocery store.
-Younger believers often look at older believers and
wonder how they can stand so strong….it came by
spending many hours in the Word.
3. It must be taken daily.
We must have a steady diet of the “B” vitamin.
Exercise.
John has 21 chapters.
Read three chapters a day over the next 7 days.
Report something that God particularly spoke to you
about.
Rest.
1 Kings 8:56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
Look for Promises, and rest in the fact that God will not fail in keeping His promises.
