THE AT RISK GENERATION. PLEASURE SEEKERS

AND WHOSE GLORY IS IN THEIR SHAME, WHO MIND EARTHLY THINGS.
Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God,
THAN TO ENJOY THE PLEASURES OF SIN FOR A SEASON.
1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth IN PLEASURE is DEAD while she lived.
2 Timothy 3:4 ... LOVERS OF PLEASURES, MORE THAN LOVERS OF GOD;
1. WE ARE A LOTTERY GENERATION, WE WANT TO HAVE PLEASURE! WE LOVE TO GAMBLE,
EVEN KNOWING THE ODDS ARE GREATLY AGAINST US.
This lottery mentality spills into the church. We are not afraid of the hazards and pitfalls that have
doomed other generations. We are insured. Our banks are insured. But what about our souls?
When my youngest son was little, he would sing,
BLESSED INSURANCE, JESUS IS MINE, O, WHAT A FORETASTE OF GLORY DIVINE.
We are living in a generation that is so focused on the temporal, that we seldom think of the eternal.
We see the bumper sticker, HE WHO HAS THE BIGGEST TOYS WINS. We measure success by material
accumulation. One of the major goals sought after is pleasure. Seems all our efforts hinge on FUN
and pleasure. Yet we must do more than love pleasure, we must LOVE GOD!
1 Timothy 5:6 But she that liveth IN PLEASURE is DEAD while she lived.
2 Timothy 3 is a special chapter, from verse 1 to verse 8 is recorded a quick powerful lesson on the
conditions and wickedness of the last days.
Paul warns that that there will grow a spirit of a pleasure hungry society.
2 Timothy 3:4 --- LOVERS OF PLEASURES MORE THAN LOVERS OF GOD.
2. PREACH US HAPPY!
Years ago I was in a service, the young Preacher patted the back of the old Preacher as he was
approaching the pulpit to preach. The young man gave the old Preacher some advice... He chided the
old man ... "PREACH US HAPPY, TONIGHT!"
With a tear running down the old Preacher’s face, he turned to the young man, and replied,
" I hear the cry of the crowd to preach us happy, but the Heart of God is tears for the lost and dying.
They are headed toward Hell, while the Christians seek PLEASURE and Gospel Entertainment to
MAKE us laugh, MAKE US HAPPY! ?"
Wow, what a powerful message the old man relayed to the young man.
3. WE TRY TO COMPETE WITH TV PLEASURE.
We build great stadiums that will never pay for themselves, tax money will carry the load for
several generations. The television and Hollywood have been leading and molding the minds of
the people, NOT THE CHURCH. Hidden agendas, commercials and TV shows tell us how to live.
Programs slowly teach acceptance and compromise.
Too long we have heard the cry for entertainment leading the way of our youth.
The enemy is diverting the attention of people and the church to trivial pursuits.
We love comedians and performers to ease our conscience. While the enemy distracts and diverts our
attention, we lose focus on the eternal. This TV SPIRIT that is dictating to the peoples’ pleasure
has even reached the religious crowd.
4. GOSPEL TV IS GROWING INTO A GREGARIOUS, CANNIBALISTIC, SELF PLEASURING CROWD that
loves the applause and popularity of the world. They dance and show the flesh to reach the lost?
They are boasters and often work against the local church! We can send our money, stay at home, and
forget the lost? The church and Gospel must reach beyond pleasure and our comfort zones.
It is hard for the real, local church to amuse the crowd, and cause our worship to always pass professionally
and pleasantly. We forget real people with real problems.
5. We have a "WINE AND DINE AND WHINE ATTITUDE" THRIVING WITHIN THE CAMP.
We have not focused upon the cross and missions.
We are a generation that spends more on pet food and pet care and cable bills/satelite bills than on missions,
and a humanity headed toward HELL!
We pay God’s MONEY for the PREMIUM CHANNELS THAT SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED BY CHRISTIANS, and we
are growing as never before a Generation at Risk, thrill me, pleasure as a god generation?
6. WE WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL TO HAVE FUN. OUR SCHOOLS HAVE BECOME A WAR ZONE.
In the 50’s the number one problem at school was chewing gum, today sin lurks in the hallways of our schools.
Drug abuse will kill many of our youth. In many school systems control is gained by fighting and gangs at war
on our own soil. Our youth are at risk, guns and knifes are a too common occurrence, where learning should be
in the classrooms. Students know very little about God. It is against the law to post the 10 Commandments in our
school buildings. Students can hang posters of partially clad people in the halls. Teachers can force mandatory
readings Satanic works and of the Koran, but you better not pray or, please, don’t mention Jesus.
Police officers patrol the hallways to try to regain our schools. Sports heroes walk the halls seldom attending
class. The stars of the football or basketball teams are exempt from class pressure. These athletes often rule the
girls and the class.
7. THE PLEASURE OF DRUGS? WE ARE AT WAR WITH A POWERFUL DRUG ABUSE SYSTEM.
We are prone to condone legal drugs, but they can be just as deadly as the illicit drugs.
Tobacco, alcohol, and prescription drugs seem to have a free reign in our neighborhoods.
We want to alter our moods and be geared for pleasure!
I am not happy, this drug can change all of that?
Have you ever watched a person as they gasped for breath from smoking?
Have you ever seen a lifeless body pulled out of an automobile, and seen a drunk teenager staggering around
the corpse? Have you ever taken a mother to prison to visit her precious son locked up for many years?
I have stood on DEATH ROW and carried the news to a heart broken Mother, ---
there was pleasure for a little while, but the cost came came due.
8. THE PLEASURE OF ILLICIT SEX?
But know this many more are sick or dying from STD’s, Sexually Transmitted Diseases. These STD’s are growing
more and more resistant to the antibiotic that once effectively treated them. Herpes, an inflammatory virus is a
life long, reoccurring, terrible skin disease that is sexually transmitted, it is infecting many of our youth. There is
a great chance that their children will be carriers of this STD for their life because of the promiscuity of the parents.
Genital warts, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, chancroid, herpes simplex, herpes, are infecting our young people.
They are believing a lie of our enemy, that pleasure should be a goal.
We sing songs like IF THIS IS WRONG I DON’T WANT TO BE RIGHT ---
NO ONE KNOWS WHAT GOES ON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.
How about what this is costing the system? I went with a family, that found out the 15 year old daughter had a
terrible sexually transmitted disease that cost $1,000 a day for 45 days to slow down the disease.
All this pain for a few minutes pleasure. Now when this young girl tells her boyfriend she has this disease,
they drop her like a hot potato. The young man that infected her, has infected many. He knows, he just doesn’t
care. He gets another notch in his belt. We want pleasure!
Date rape drugs have become popular with the in-crowd, we can really have pleasure?
9.THE SCARS OF SEXUAL PLEASURE CAN BE VERY COSTLY.
What about ABORTION and the terrible scars and painful memories that will haunt young people all their life?
Thousands of precious, viable babies killed and flushed down a sewer system.
What about teenage pregnancy and a broken welfare system? What about a kid trying to raise a kid?
Instead of graduation, it is diapers and a crying baby? All this for a few minutes pleasure?
Forced marriages birthed out of lust and pleasure, not LOVE and God’s Word?
Yes, we made a baby, but we had pleasure? What about the poor baby?
10. We haven’t mentioned the terrible HIV, AIDS virus that attacks the human immune system.
More will die from AIDS and HIV than all the wars of the world combined. The primary carriers of this
KILLER are the bisexual and homosexual life styles. It is just an ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE?
Druggies using intravenous illicit drugs pass on this KILLER!
ALL IN THE NAME OF PLEASURE! I WANT TO FEEL GOOD!
11. THIS SEXUAL REVOLUTION IS THRIVING AMONG THE YOUTH OF THE CHURCH.
Many religious leaders have sold all for the Cardinal Sin and a little pleasure.
To face a man that has lost his church, his ministry, his family, his income, and his home ---
all for a little pleasure? Church kids have no fear of doing wrong, we must sound the trumpet.
12. THERE IS PLEASURE IN SIN --- BUT REMEMBER IT IS FOR A SEASON...

THAN TO ENJOY THE PLEASURES OF SIN FOR A SEASON.
Many are dying as casualties OF PLEASURE and of the sexual revolution.
Abortion and homosexuality are being accepted on TV and in our schools, by our government health departments
and school systems promote condoms and birth control as the relief for our woes? Students can get this
"sexual protection" without parental knowledge.
Some churches have compromised the Bible, God’s Word, His truth, to overlook and treat this trail to pleasure
as harmless and socially acceptable.
13.This PLEASURE GENERATION IS AT GREAT RISK. This generation has more Bibles, books, cassettes, and churches,
but they know very little about God, as we can’t even post the 10 Commandments in our school buildings.
Over 1 million teens become pregnant each year.
Stats show on the average one teen girl gets pregnant every 31 seconds.
The average time of day a teen gets pregnant is between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM,
while Mom and dad are coming home from work.
14. AIDS IS THE #1 KILLER OF YOUNG PEOPLE.
AIDS has quickly become the #1 killer of the our young people. This is birthed out of a desire for pleasure!
More young people have died of Aids than died in Viet Nam, Korea, WW2, WW1 and the Civil War.
It is estimated that every day, 32,000 will contract a STD.
The estimated cost to the USA government for sexual contact problems will be over 1 billion dollars
this year, add to this what personal insurance companies will pay.
Could this be one of the pestilence’s that the Bible warns of in the last days?
A pestilence is a contagious or infectious epidemic of diseases.
These diseases of PLEASURE are very costly in money and pain.
With STD’s infecting around 12 million teens a year, it is said that 1 in 5 Americans have and carry
a viral STD. Of the infected crowd, 2/3 of all STD carriers are under 25 yrs of age.
15. PLEASURE IS A FRUIT GOING RIGHT IN OUR HOMES.
We have cable TV, satellite dishes, DVD, VCR tapes and the computers to become
"LIGHTNING RODS OF DEMONIC PLEASURE BY PLACING PORNOGRAPHY IN OUR HOMES.
50% OF ALL TEENS HAVE HAD MAJOR EXPOSURE TO PORNOGRAPHY FROM THEIR OWN HOMES.
We cannot account for all the emotional scars and pain that those that place pleasure first
and as a priority will pay.
I talked with a 15 year old girl that has already had sex with 35 men and boys, I expressed doubt and she
later gave me a list of names.
16. THERE IS NO FEAR OR PURIFING CONSCIENCE IN THE USA.
What about the maladies of chasing rainbows and pleasures that have made a total havoc on this society?
We are not only wounded physically, but emotionally, mentally, and morally.
Our society is sin sick, we are a GENERATION AT RISK, WE ARE PLEASURE SEEKERS.
OUR SENSE OF SEEKING PLEASURE HAS MORALLY SEPARATED PEOPLE FROM GOD.
1Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; HAVING THEIR CONSCIENCE SEARED WITH A HOT IRON;
Where is the conscience of right and wrong?
When the office of the president of this great nation lowered to a sexual joke, and leaders have been associated
with lies, --- it is high time the CHURCH ARISE AND TAKE OUR YOUTH AWAY FROM THE DICTATES OF HOLLYWOOD
AND ALLOW THE CHURCH TO LIFT THE STANDARD AND TAKE THE LEAD.
The moral failure of breaking God’s commandments will cost not only pain and suffering here, what about the
GREAT JUDGMENT DAY?
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?? ALLOW THE ENEMY TO STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY THE CHURCH OF TOMORROW???
17. We are a presumptuous generation, an AT RISK GENERATION.
We take the attitude or belief that dictates there will always be a probability that prosperity
and blessing will forever flow, and we will live in pleasure.
We are unwisely free from all fear of wrong. We are easy minded and confident in our expectations
that we can do wrong and get away with it. We will take much more risks with our eternity than we will with
our souls. We love to gamble and PLAY games. I have plenty of time, we think.
We are so educated and blessed that we will never face the judgments of God.
We will never face the exposure to danger and the adverse conditions that the rest of the world faces.
18. WE NEED A GRASS ROOTS CALL TO PRAYER AND REPENTANCE.
THE AT RISK GENERATION HAS A BEAUTIFUL POTENTIAL TO STAND ON THE WORD.
I dare you to ask some children the 10 Commandments.
They can call off 10 telephone numbers, they can quote Barney and Ronald McDonald,
They can go in great details of mealiness facts, but they don’t know the Commandments??
Don’t cry over the lack of the 10 Commandments in our schools, when they are not even hanging
in the Sunday School rooms at church, nor in the bedrooms at home.
I ask another question if the churches and the families fail to teach the 10 Commandments and
place them in our youth ---
HOW CAN THEY KEEP WHAT THEY HAVE NEVER LEARNED? COULD WE BE WORKING BACKWARDS?
WE MUST STORE THE WORD OF GOD IN OUR YOUTH!! FOR THE WORD OF GOD DOES THE WORK OF GOD.
DAVID SAID " HAVE HID THY WORD IN MY HEART THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINST GOD."
OUR PRIORITY MUST BE TO TEACH AND WRITE GOD’S LAWS ON THE HEART OF OUR CHILDREN AND
GRANDCHILDREN.
19 WE NEED INCESSORS TO PRAY.
Let me close with this story, while pastoring at a mission work in the mountains of eastern Kentucky,
I would listen to the "old" ladies discuss the time period in the mid 1940’s while the terrible World War 2
was in the heat of the battle, momma’s would gather at the church every day to pray for the soldiers boys
in the WAR ZONES.
I talked with a GOLD STAR MOMMA (lady that gave her son in the war), she told me as you walked up the
hollows you could hear mommas’ praying and crying for the kids.
We need a warriors’ heart to grow and claim our youth, for you see the battles of life are won or lost on the altars of God.
We can never turn this tide that is killing our youth with education and programs, never, OUR ONLY HOPE IS JESUS!!!!
There is a cry from moms’ --- MADD (Mother against Drunk Drivers),
But sexually transmitted diseases will kill more youth than drunk drivers, and we drift along??
Does not 2 Chron. 7:14 say "If my people which are called by my name shall--humble--
turn and repent --- THEN WILL I -------
PLEASE, GOD DO IT AGAIN, AND BRING OUR CHILDREN BACK TO THE CHURCH--------
We used to sing If I Could hear my Mother Pray Again -- (many kids have never heard momma pray earnestly)---
God raise up an army of praying Mommas’ and Dads’ and HEAL OUR CHILDREN----
GOD TURN OUR HEARTS TOWARD YOU AND SAVE US FROM OUR LUST.
