THE REMEDY FOR SIN

Text: Romans 5:8-10

Introduction Old fashion remedies: leg cramps; put shoes inside one another & place them under the bed while you sleep.

Warts; rub an old wash cloth on the wart then throw the wash cloth over the back fence.

Sty; rub butter milk or a silver ring over the eye.

We may never need the remedy for leg cramps, warts, or a sty, but we all need the remedy for one thing in our lives. Sin

I. WE CANNOT DENY SIN

A. Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned & come short of the glory of God.”

B. Each of us are sinners

C. Psalms14:3;“There is none that does good no not one”

D. We need to realize we are sinners & our need for forgiveness

II. WE CANNOT MINIMIZE THE POWER OF SIN.

A. Sin will wreck our lives.

B. Sin will wreck our testimony.

C. Sin will damn our souls to hell.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death”

Spiritual death- seperation from God. Read Revelation 21:8

III. WE CANNOT HIDE THE PRESENCE OF SIN

A. Story of Akin (Joshua ch. 7)

B. My sin may effect more than me, others may be involved.

IV. WE CANNOT USE OUR OWN REMEDY FOR SIN.

A. Jesus is God’s remedy for sin

B. Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men where by we must be saved.”

C. His blood alone can wash away our sin. Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood”

A little girl in a Sunday school class told the teacher that God cannot see everything. She said He cannot see my sin through the blood of Jesus.
