THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO THE THREE PIGS
(Mat 7:24-27) What does a house represent? Security, comfort, provision, acceptance
1st. Pig built his house out of Straw = earthly wealth
Fame and fortune -
Jesus said, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul." What is the eternal value to material wealth? This is where temporary meets eternity? In Matt. 6:19-24 Jesus said to "store up treasures in heaven that will not rust or decay.
Many people are building their bank accounts, pension plans and RETIREMENT PLANS WHILE NEGLECTING THEIR ETERNAL RETIREMENT!!!
The winds and storms came - The wolf came and said, "let me in" NO! Than I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down. And he did.
The big bad wolf is DEATH, the great equalizer. Scripture is insistent that death will come to all. With the exception being those who are alive at the 2nd. Coming.
Eccl. 7:2 "It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart."
HEB. 9:27 "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,"
2nd. Pig built his house out of STICKS = other gods
Two of the 10 Commandments deals with other gods, "Do not have any other Gods above me, and Do not worship images of gods. There are those who are building their spiritual house on false gods. They have the sense of eternity, the seeking for the spiritual, but they have locked onto false or wrong gods. Remember Jesus words, in John 14:6 "..., "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
a) cults - no gods, other humans
b) false religions - world religions
c) church work - "saved by faith not by works so that no one can boast."
Paul told Timothy to beware of those with a "form of religion" but it does not satisfy, even now but especially not eternally. What happens when the "winds and storms of life comes against the house built upon this foundation? The wolf came and said, "let me in" NO! Than I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down. And he did.
3rd. Pig built his house out of bricks = Christ foundation
hears my commands and obeys them. not merely hearers and walks away.
The wolf came and said, "let me in" NO! Than I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down. And he did.
APPLICATION:
Notice how the first two pigs ran from one destroyed foundation to another until they arrived at the brick house!! Many people run from one foundation to another as they find that the one is not solid.
The final knocking at the door Rev 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."
2 Cor. 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad."
What is your eternal house built upon?
