TEXT:
Hebrews 12: 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, LET US LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT AND SIN WHICH DOTH SO EASILY BESET US, AND LET SO RUN WITH PATIENCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US...
Proverbs 6:34 For jealousy is the RAGE of a man, therefore he will not be spared in the day of vengeance. 35. ...Neither will HE REST CONTENT...
Songs 8:6 ... For love is as strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are the coals of fire, which hath the most vehement flame.
Let us ponder Laying aside weight to attain victory.
This is the 6th in series of Weight to remove, text, Heb. 12:1
I. Remove the weight: Introduction
II. REMOVE THE WEIGHT OF SIN.
III. Remove the weight of no evaluation.
IV. Remove the weight: Blame Game.
V. Remove the weight of GREED.
VI. Remove the weight of JEALOUSY
I am wearing a backpack with 40 pounds of rock,
the first rock was labeled SIN. This rock is labeled Jealousy.
I have a friend remove the one rock from my backpack,
I have painted the word Jealousy on the rock.
I have SIN the biggest rock, it is a little larger than three fist,
the rest are little bigger than soft ball size.
I note my load is getting lighter as I remove the weights.
Today the 4th rock is removed.
I wear the back pack for the whole service, the load sure gets heavy.
Seems the ear of the jealous can hear all things and interpete the words to
try to gain control the situation.
Jealousy feeds on suspicion, and it turns very quickly into fury.
For suspicions have a way of turning into certainty.
Here is a hidden truth... JEALOUSY IS MORE SELF LOVE---
THAN TRUE LOVE.
V. REMOVE THE WEIGHT OF
JEALOUSY / controlling spirit
Proverbs 6:34 For jealousy is the RAGE of a man, therefore he will not be spared in the day of vengeance. 35. ...Neither will HE REST CONTENT...
Songs 8:6 ... For love is as strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are the coals of fire, which hath the most vehement flame.
Let us define jealousy:
intolerance,
suspiciousness,
hostile,
harboring envy,
IMPERIOUS REFUSAL TO SHARE...
POSSESSIVE ... mine.
A. JEALOUSY IS A VENOM, A POISON.
JEALOUSY IS A STINGING, ILL WILLED,
POISON THAT SMOTHERS THE LIFE OUT OF LOVE.
B. LITTLE BOY WITH BIRD.
THE LITTLE BOY REFUSED TO LET GO OF THE WILD BIRD,
HE LOVED IT, HE HELD IT, HE SQUEEZED IT, HE KILLED IT.
Jealousy is the jaundice of the soul.
In my opinion Judas seemed to operate in the jealous mode.
C. THE EAR OF JEALOUSY HEARS ALL
RUMORS AND GOSSIP, AND ENLARGES.
Prov. 10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
D. JEALOUSY FEEDS UPON SUSPICIONS AND TURNS SUSPICIOUS INTO RAGE.
E. JEALOUSY IS A TYPE OF SELF-LOVE MORE THAN LOVE.
YOU CAN NEVER FORCE SOMEONE TO LOVE YOU.
LOVE IS MORE THAN MANIPULATION AND CONTROL.
Love is not a dictatorship.
Jealousy is a type of unrestrained fear and worry.
F. JEALOUSY STOPS COMMUNICATION.
Gen. 37:4 ... all his brethren, they hated him, and could not SPEAK PEACEABLY UNTO HIM.
Joseph’s 10 brothers hated him,
they were jealous of Joseph’s coat of many colors and
preferential treatment my dad.
This jealousy then becomes a driving force, that will in the end
bring more tears than laughter.
The plot of the jealous will always backfire.
G. JEALOUSY CAUSES YOU TO SEE OTHERS AS ENEMY.
Saul had it in his mind that David was his enemy.
He saw everything as a threat to his kingdom and family.
See 1 Sam. 26:12, on numerous occasions David could have easily killed Saul.
David would not touch the previously anointed king.
H. JEALOUSY HURTS THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER.
Luke 15:28 And the elder son was angry, and would not go in ...
The elder son missed a good meal, and communion with his brother and Father.
I. JEALOUSY REMOVES AGREEMENT.
THEY AGREED THEN CHANGED THEIR MIND?
Matthew 20: 12 Saying, These last have wrought BUT ONE HOUR, and thou hast MADE THEM EQUAL UNTO US, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
Jealousy is no more than envy and coveting and trying to force your ways upon others.
Jealousy, the green eyed monster grows and reinforces itself. Jealousy is self feeding and self growing.
We must remove this weight to advance the cross. Jealousy can thrive in the church, REMOVE IT.
Churches and denominations grow jealousy -- spite fences.
Sibling rivalry can grow into a type of jealousy
With in the church small cliques can thrive and each group be jealous of the other group.
Small local pastors can become jealous of the big TV preachers?
We don’t have time to rock the boat.
Throw down the weight of jealousy.
His servant,
