Develop a Sense of Urgency
by Wade Martin Hughes, Sr.

In our daily walk with Jesus, it is very easy to lose our sense of URGENCY, a spirit of gradualness slowly slips our heart into an idle, aimless drifting into trivial pursuit, while the weightier things go unguarded.
Even dead fish can swim down stream?
One of my mottos in life is simple:
MAKE SURE TO KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING.
Then I asked, By the way, what is the main thing?
Sometimes the most disappointed people are those who
get what’s coming to them?
Answer the questions in this opinion poll?
What is your opinion of lukewarmness?
What is your opinion of those that are lazy and sleep in a time of crisis?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not daily read their Bible?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not tithe their income?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not ever witness to others headed toward hell?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not say a prayer of thanksgiving over their meal?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not attend Sunday School on a regular basis?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not attend Sunday evening services?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not does not praise and worship God?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not have a private prayer life and devotions?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not have the time to be baptized in water?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not participate in the Lord’s Supper?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not actively pursue Bible Studies and Prayer Groups?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not have a strategy to reach the prodigal or the backslider?
What is your opinion of a Christian that does not fast and pray for those headed at 1440 minutes per day toward HELL?
Now be very honest and return to those questions and apply them to your daily walk? We need the light of God to help us see ourselves.
We don’t need "SPIRITUAL STARS," just little candles to shine God’s Holy Light.
Remember in Luke 15: 8 , the little lady that lost her coin, lit a candle and the dirt was exposed. When the dirt was exposed, the response was --- clean the house. When the house was cleaned, the coin was found.
The darker the night the greater the light. What am I doing? How can I accomplish God’s plan for my family and church? Pure religion is what?
Do you have pure religion?
James 1: 25--26, warns us pure religion bridles the tongue and to visit widows and fatherless in their afflictions. Do you meet this criteria?
What kind of church would my church be, if every member were just like me?
We live in a TV day where many think faithful church attendance is optional, or if I don’t like church I don’t have to go?
I ponder what the Bible says? The Bible warns us, in the last days the habit of some will undermine the value of faithfulness to the church.
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and much more, as ye see the day approaching. (Second coming)
How clear is the verse in 1 Cor. 4:2? Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
We must have a birth of URGENCY to return to this country and the church! Jesus is coming. Watch and Pray!
We must quit nursing our grudges! Many have the right creeds, their daily walk is not retained in their creed. Dynamite words and firecracker works?
The call over the church is not TAPS! The call to the church is reveille ... a summons to rise. Pilate said, Make it as sure as you can! I sound the trumpet in Zion, make your call and election sure, be very sure. Do a little more? Press on!
All Shamgar had was an ox goad, and deliverance was in his hand.
What shall I offer?
Moses had a shepherd’s rod, and a plan of deliverance. Moses learned what HOLY GROUND is!
What shall I offer?
Millions would know freedom, that came because of Moses reaching out a rod in obedience.
What shall I offer?
All David would take was 5 smooth stones and a sling, but he overcame a giant.
What shall I offer?
Samson had a jawbone, but he defeated the enemy.
What shall I offer?
Rahab had a scarlet cord but her family was set free.
What shall I offer?
Mary offered her alabaster with tears, and has been forever remembered for her love deed.
What shall I offer?
Dorcas offered a needle!
What shall I offer?
The little boy offered fish and biscuits.
What shall I offer?
The men that carried the bed in Mark 2, tore a hole in a man’s roof, but a miracle developed.
What shall I offer?
God has a plan for you.
You need a sense of URGENCY... Eke. 37, sure these bones can live again, if you invest what you have.
We must develop our emotions to:
constrain us ...
Impel us...
Launch us...
Please, hear the Master...
His Call says, LET DOWN YOUR NETS...
The human responses says,
Master we have toiled all night and taken nothing...
Jesus says: TRY AGAIN...
I ask you today, Jesus’ return is soon,
IF NOT YOU, THEN WHO?
IF NOW HERE, THEN WHERE?
IF NOT NOW, THEN WHEN?
