Sermon Title: “I’ve Got the Power”
Main Text: Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
🔹 Section 1: Introduction – The Breaking Point
There are moments in life and ministry that will test your core.
Times where, despite everything you know about God, everything you’ve preached, everything you’ve prayed—you still feel like giving up.
I found myself in one of those moments.
I had just come home from church, where I had poured out in ministry.
But instead of being filled and encouraged, I was overwhelmed.
I felt defeated.
Have you ever been there?
You did exactly what God told you to do… but it felt like life hit harder anyway.
The trials I was facing at that time stirred up all my deepest fears—
Fear that I wasn’t good enough.
Fear that I’d missed God.
Fear that maybe this wasn’t working.
I felt unqualified and unsure.
And in my lowest moment, the Lord didn’t leave me there.
He didn’t rebuke me—He revived me.
He said, “Get up. Lift up your head. Stand. Do My will.”
And then He led me to Ephesians 3:20.
This verse became my turning point.
This was the verse that reminded me that I still had the power to go on.
🔹 Section 2: “Now” Means Right Now
The first word of the verse—“Now”—is not there by accident.
It’s not just a conjunction. It’s a command.
“Now” speaks to this present moment.
Not when you feel better. Not when you get the job. Not when the pain stops.
God is saying, “Right now—I can move.”
Right now, I’m able. Right now, I’m working.
Right now, I have a plan for your life.
So many times, we postpone our healing, our purpose, our next step—waiting for things to line up perfectly.
But God doesn’t need ideal conditions to perform His will.
If you’re in a storm—He says now.
If you’re in the fire—He says now.
If you’re in the valley—He says now.
You serve a present God, not just a past miracle worker or future promise maker.
Somebody shout: “Now!”
🔹 Section 3: Exceedingly. Abundantly. Above.
These three words deserve their own spotlight.
God doesn’t just do things in moderation—He does them in overflow.
“Exceeding” – That means surpassing, going beyond.
“Abundantly” – That means overflow, more than sufficient.
“Above” – That means higher, greater, past your reach, past your imagination.
Put them together and you’ve got a God who exceeds, overflows, and outdoes your wildest expectations.
Sometimes we limit God by only asking for what we think is “realistic.”
But let me remind you—He’s not a realistic God. He’s a supernatural God.
He’s not confined to human boundaries.
If you dream it—He can exceed it.
If you ask it—He can surpass it.
If you imagine it—He can go beyond it.
“Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard, neither hath it entered into the heart of man the things that God hath prepared for them that love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
Don’t be afraid to believe big.
Because the God you serve is a big God.
🔹 Section 4: The Power That Worketh In Us
This is where the verse shifts from God’s ability to our responsibility.
Yes—He’s able to do all those things.
But the manifestation of His power in your life is "according to the power that worketh in us."
That means the miracle is tied to what’s active inside of you.
If there’s no faith in you,
If there’s no obedience in you,
If there’s no belief in you—
You won’t see the full potential of what God wants to do.
The “power” that must be working is the power of the Holy Ghost,
the power of faith,
the power of surrender,
and the power of trust.
This is why some people can sit under the same Word and see different results.
It’s not about the preacher—it’s about the power in you!
Let me say it this way: You can’t walk in divine authority without spiritual activity.
🔹 Section 5: The Power is Faith, Trust, and Experience
Power doesn’t just come through shouting, dancing, or quoting scripture.
Real power comes through relationship and experience.
When you’ve seen God bring you out—
When you’ve watched Him make a way—
When you’ve witnessed Him heal, protect, and provide—
You walk differently.
You don’t just hope He’s a deliverer—you know He is.
You don’t just recite that He’s good—you’ve lived it.
That’s why the enemy fights your testimony—because your experience gives you power.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” (Revelation 12:11)
Your testimony is not just a story—it’s a weapon.
🔹 Section 6: When People Count You Out
There have been times people looked at me and counted me out.
They saw the pain, the past, the setbacks—and assumed that was the end of my story.
But let me tell you something: God doesn’t take votes on your calling.
He’s not running a democracy.
If He called you, that settles it.
If He anointed you, no devil in hell can revoke it.
People may have turned their backs on you.
They may have walked away.
But God said, “I’ll never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
They saw a mess. God saw a message.
They saw defeat. God saw development.
They saw rejection. God saw redirection.
Don’t let who left you make you forget who called you.
🔹 Section 7: Obedience Over Opinion
If God tells you to evangelize—do it.
If He tells you to preach—preach.
If He tells you to sing—sing.
If He tells you to serve—serve.
Your obedience to God must outweigh your desire to please people.
People will question you.
They’ll say, “Are you sure God told you that?”
They’ll try to delay you with their doubts.
But listen: they weren’t there when God spoke to you.
They didn’t hear the voice in the midnight hour.
They didn’t feel the fire burning in your belly.
If God said it—move.
“We shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians 6:9)
🔹 Section 8: Don’t Limit God
You can’t expect God-sized results with human-sized faith.
One of the saddest things is to watch people limit a limitless God.
We limit Him through:
Doubt
Fear
Double-mindedness
Over-analysis
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering… A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:6–8)
If you’re going to believe—then really believe.
If you’re going to pray—then expect the answer.
If you’re going to dream—dream big enough for God to step in.
Take the lid off your faith.
🔹 Section 9: God’s Power Has No Limits—But His Character Has Boundaries
This is important to understand:
God is unlimited in power, but He will never act outside of His character.
He won’t lie to you.
He won’t mislead you.
He won’t contradict His Word to make you feel good.
“God is not a man, that he should lie…” (Numbers 23:19)
That means if He promised it—He will do it.
If He said you’re chosen—you are.
If He said He’ll provide—He will.
Your situation does not change His character.
He remains faithful.
🔹 Section 10: Get Dressed for Battle
When the enemy comes to attack your mind, your ministry, your family—don’t cower.
Stand up.
Put on the armor.
Get dressed in truth, righteousness, and faith.
Hold your sword—the Word.
Lift your shield—your faith.
“Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
Stop backing down.
You’ve got power!
The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you.
🔹 Section 11: Final Declaration – I’ve Got the Power
Here’s where you declare it:
I’ve got the power to stand.
I’ve got the power to pray.
I’ve got the power to fight.
I’ve got the power to serve.
I’ve got the power to finish what God started.
Not because of who I am—
But because of who He is.
“Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
You’ve got resurrection power.
You’ve got sustaining power.
You’ve got overcoming power.
So today—lift up your head.
Straighten your back.
Wipe your tears.
And declare: “I’ve got the power!”
