Summary: Spiritually contemplating the various grasses of my crazy lawn.

My Crazy Lawn

If you could see my lawn.

It was full of weeds

MSMA nuke the whole lawn - when my Aunts came from out of town - embarrassing

I replanted seeds - awe the birds

I replanted again and scratched the dirt a bit - still birds but at least some took root

I watered it and watered it but most of it died.

So I tried Zoysia - slow growing - most of it died.

My flower bed and around the tree has dwarf mondo grass - beautiful darkish green

So it has runners (Stolon) and it escaped the flower bed.

And of course I have weeds.

So, my game is like Conway’s game of life.

In that game you have a petri dish and you put various types of bacteria in the dish and then watch as they all fight for dominance. That’s how my lawn is.

They are each battling. Some are better at shade, others are better at sun, some are just weeds but you see all types of grass in my yard even though I have tried and tried to fix it.

So what should I do? Call a professional!?

So pretty much now what I do is I don’t try to nuke the lawn, I just pull weeds and let the good grass flourish and the bad grass die. That seems to work the best for me.

We joke about that when I’m old and finally pass away, I will have made the yard will look great for someone else for when they move in.

But, yeah, I can never get my lawn looking right!

Matthew 13:24-30

24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. 27 “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ 28 “ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ 29 “ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ”

These verses are a lot like my yard. I want it to look great and I even planted good seed but what happened? Well, life happened.

As long as we are here on this earth we will have to live with the good and bad around us.

And that’s a good thing to some degree as that’s our job to witness to those around us.

There are all kinds of people around us, good and bad.

We try to live in peace with everyone and we try to share the good news with everyone.

But, alas, this world’s nature is to degrade toward evil - so we know where the world is headed.

Matthew 13:36-43

36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” 37 He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. 40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

So the good seed are the saved people - those who trust Jesus for salvation.

The bad are the lost who follow the world or the devil.

Their destiny’s are quite different.

The bad are plucked and burned up in the fire - in h - e - double hockey sticks.

The righteous will shine and will be new God’s kingdom.

Knowing these destinies, we should quickly choose which path we ourselves want to be on?

Like, if you know where the road takes you, which path will you choose?

It is a huge difference between these two paths.

But we have a special hope - a Godly hope - we know where we are going and if you’re truly saved, you’ll want to share that hope with others also.

Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

But for the lost, it will be so sad. We can’t even imagine how truly terrible Hell will be like?

Isaiah 33:14-16

14 The sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling grips the godless: “Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?” 15 Those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil— 16 they are the ones who will dwell on the heights, whose refuge will be the mountain fortress.

1 Corinthians 3:8-15

8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. 10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

So how does your garden grown?

With silver bells and cockle shell?

No, you have decide who you will follow, either God or else you’re following the world which is run by the devil.

Are you a good blade of grass or are you a weed?

Are you wheat or are you a tare?

How do you know?

If you are trusting in Jesus to take away your sins and to be the Lord of your life you are wheat.

If you are following the worlds way and arrogantly say you don’t need Jesus, you are a tare.

In the end, we know their destinies. Change your mind before it’s too late.

Get in the right path.

Acts 4:12

12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Why not call on The Professional to fix your lawn problems?

He can change you from a tare to a wheat with the snap of his fingers!

Continuing to tarry and living the world’s ways will never get you to heaven.

Trust in Jesus before the harvest and then it will be too late to decide.
