Summary: Will good triumph over evil?

While we suffer under political, commercial and criminal corruption can we patiently wait for God’s eventual triumph over all evil? Let’s look at Psalm 10.

Does God sometimes seem to hide when the wicked trap people with their schemes?

Why do you stand far away, Lord? Why do you hide in times of distress? The wicked one arrogantly pursues the afflicted, who are trapped in the schemes he devises. (Ps 10:1-2 ISV)

Do the wicked boast and praise greed, while they arrogantly avoid talk of God?

For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. (Ps 10:3-4 KJV)

Does dishonesty seem to prosper in the short term? Does this delusion create a false sense of security for the wicked?

His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are on high, out of his sight; As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. He says in his heart, “I will not be shaken; From generation to generation I will not be in adversity.” (Ps 10:5-6 LSB)

What clues from the mouth of the wicked man give him away and warn us?

His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression; Under his tongue is harm and injustice. (Ps 10:7 NASB)

What are some of the disgusting practices of the wicked man?

He lies in wait near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent. His eyes watch in secret for his victims; like a lion in cover he lies in wait. He lies in wait to catch the helpless; he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net. His victims are crushed, they collapse; they fall under his strength. He says to himself, “God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.” (Ps 10:8-11 NIV)

Will God remember the humble while the wicked think they will never be held to account?

Arise, O Lord! O God, lift up Your hand! Do not forget the humble. Why do the wicked renounce God? He has said in his heart, “You will not require an account.” (Ps 10:12-13 NKJV)

Is punishment eventually coming for the wicked, and will God defend the helpless?

But you see the trouble and grief they cause. You take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You defend the orphans. (Ps 10:14 NLT)

Will the strong hold of the wicked on the nations eventually be broken?

Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none. Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land. (Ps 10:15-16 WEB)

Does God hear the heart’s desires of those oppressed by a corrupt world?

Lord, you listen to the desires of those who suffer. You steady their hearts; you listen closely to them, to establish justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that people of the land will never again be terrified. (Ps 10:17-18 CEB)

Will all the suffering, crying and pain of this world eventually end?

I heard a loud voice shout from the throne: God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. (Rev 21:3-4 CEV)

Until then, what very important spiritual traits is God developing in us?

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Rom 5:3-5 ESV)

While we suffer under political, commercial and criminal corruption can we patiently wait for God’s eventual triumph over all evil? You decide!
