SOUND OUT: DO WE HAVE HOPE?
By Wade Martin Hughes Sr. Kyfingers@aol..com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)
IS HOPE A VERB? IS HOPE A NOUN?
*HOPE: optimistic state of mind, a feeling of positive outcome, a confident expectation in the promises and character of God, the object of desire.
SIMEON. (Luke 2:26) How many years did the old man have hope he would see the MESSIAH?
ANNA. (Luke 2:38) How many years did ANNA hopefully wait to hold baby Jesus in the arms?
HOPELESSNESS BECOMES A LIVING HELL.
Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
HOPE MUST BE THE FOUNDATION OF OUR PRIORITIES.
Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
IF YOU CAN VISUALLY SEE THE SOLUTION, YOU HAVE LITTLE NEED OF HOPE. HOPE IS MORE SUBSTANTIAL THAN WISHING.
Hope is rooted in the faith and trusting in the character of God a feeling of trust, a feeling of expectation, desire for something to happen, anticipation, dream,
Romans 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
HOPE CARRIES A LOT OF WAIT! PATIENCE: Patience is to bear pain and trials calmly without complaining. Hope keeps us READY AND PREPARED.
HOPE MUST BE THE STABILIZING ANCHOR TO BRING COMFORT AND PEACE TO INDIVIDUALS. HOPE SHOULD BE THE ANCHOR THAT HOLDS THROUGH THE STORMS AND TRIALS OF DAILY LIVING. IN HOPE WE CAN FIND PATIENCE AND FAITHFULNESS TO ANTICIPATE GOD KEEPS HIS PROMISES AND THAT JESUS’ PROMISES TO RETURN ARE TRUE.
In the midst of trials, temptations, pain, suffering and uncertain times WE CAN HAVE hope!
Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12 (MSG) Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around.
We used to call Sears and Roebucks a WISH BOOK. We would dream of what we would get for Christmas. Often we found disappointments at the foot of the tree. The Bible is a HOPE BOOK.
HOPE MUST BECOME THE MOTIVATION TO ENCOURAGE US TO IMPROVEMENT AND GROWTH.
The world’s hope is I wish. God hope is you can bank on a sure thing.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 (MSG) The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see.
HOPE KEEPS OUR EMOTION AND MOODS IN CHECK. HOPE KNOWS THIS PROBLEM HAS A SOLUTION
1 Thessalonians 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
HOPE WILL OVERCOME ALL OBSTALCES AND SEE THIS PROBLEM CAN OVERCOME EVERY OBSTACLE PLACE BEFORE US.
Romans 4:18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
There are some problems that money, education, government or family cannever cure.
Hope makes us clean up our lifestyle.
1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
HOPE IS OUR ANCHOR. THE ANCHOR IS A WEIGHT THAT HOLDS OUR SHIPS SECURE AND STEADY. WITHOUT AN ANCHOR WE AAARE PRONED TO DRIFT AND GET OFF COURSE. BE STILL AND KNOW GOD IS GOD.
Hebrews 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
HOPE KEEPS US READY!
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
HOPE ACCEPTS THE FACT JESUS IS COMING AGAIN.
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
CONCLUSION: HOPE HAS TO SOUND OUT AND CONSIDER GOD CAN. SOUND OUT: PAUL WAS IN A TERRIBLE PICKLE. THE PREACHER PAUL WARNED THE CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP AND HIS GUARDS.
Acts 27:24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. 25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.
WHEN FEAR TRIES TO MOTIVATE US, WE HAVE TO DROP OUR ANCHORS.
Acts 27:29 Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.
PAUL’S HOPE WAS CONTAGIOUS.
Acts 27:35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. 36 Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat. 37 And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.
WE MUST RELY THAT HOPE WILL SEE US THROUGH. SOUND OUT MY FRIENDS:
1. HIDDEN SIN?
2. BAD ATTITUDES?
3. LAZINESS, IDLENESS NO WORKS?
4. LACKING IN DEVOTIONS AND PRIORITIES? 5. ANGER AND BITTERNESS?
6. THE LACK OF REAL LOVE, TENDER MERCIES AND AMAZING GRACE.
