If you weren’t here, ask someone for notes! We don’t have time for a full recap, but in the previous studies we looked at what is a lost sheep, and why it’s important to seek God for the exact plan. He has a specific plan for your life! Today, we’re going to study the importance of prayer for His Plan, how to pray, and start working on it today!

But first… Homework!

- Did you read the story of Sampson?

- I’m going to believe everyone has a God’s Plan notebook, so I won’t ask. If you weren’t here for the previous studies, buy a cheap notebook to get started on God’s Plan for your life.

- Did anyone start to receive instructions? It’s ok if not yet, you will by the end of the study!

- Anyone share this study with loved ones? …. As we move on, you’ll see how important it is for you to share and teach this to your loved ones.

Let’s get started right away, so we get through everything the Holy Spirit has planned for us.

Today we’re going to see God’s Plan doesn’t automatically come to pass. Often times people shift responsibility off on God, “If it’s His Will, it will happen,” but we can see from Jesus’ teaching and prayer life that’s not so.

Matthew 6:9-10 NKJV

9 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

“Your Will be done on Earth.” Why would we have to pray His Will be done on Earth if it’s automatic? People will insist that no one can stop God’s Will from coming to pass, but we don’t see that in the Bible. “God is in control,” is another statement people like to make. It’s not a scriptural quote. There are times in the Bible where God is in control and other times where He’s not. What we do see in the Bible that moves God is prayer, faith, and covenant promises; not floating down the lazy river of life. I’m not opposed to eating cheese doodles on the couch, but that’s not going to move us towards The Plan of God.

Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV

37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

We can see from what Jesus said, we’re supposed to pray for the laborers, or workers, to be sent. Good news for us! We’re the prayers and the workers, because we now all have the Holy Spirit living in us.

We know from the Book of Ephesians (1:22), Christ is the Head of The Church, and from Corinthians we are the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). We have to realize the head can’t work without the body. Which means, Christ can’t get to the prison to share His love, unless the body takes Him there. Christ can’t preach in a remote place in the jungle, unless the body takes Him there. Likewise, Christ can’t give food, water, and blankets to the homeless unless the body go shopping and take the supplies. Your labor, to which you were called, is an expression of God’s love through you. That is exactly what God’s Plans are all about; love and help.

John 16:13 NKJV

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

The Spirit of Truth has come! One of the things He will tell us to come is the Plan of God for our lives. It’s important that we have faith when ask for God’s Plan. Some people don’t think they have a plan, or they think their plan is to clean the church for 50 years. We all have an exciting plan to walk out that we have been specifically created for and more than talented to complete. It’s important to have faith that the Holy Spirit will reveal The Plan to us. If you go to God saying, “Did You create little ole worthless me for something big? I can’t imagine You created me for a plan! God did You really make a plan for me?” You’re probably not going to get anything but correction for your attitude against God. Boldly ask, “Lord, please reveal Your Plan for my life.” You’re asking for a work order, your assignment, that lines you up for blessing. Don’t sheepishly ask, be bold! Think of it in terms of asking a pastor what jobs need done in the church. He’s not going to say, “Oh, you’re so unworthy to shop for office supplies. I don’t know if I have a job low enough for you. You’re not worthy to dust above the doors and clean the doorknobs!” No, you’re asking for a work order from God that you were created to complete.

Here’s an example…. (Use your own example of a humble beginning or use my real example below. I suggest you use my chair story, because it applies two more times later in the study.)

I’m going to read a real example; they don’t go to this church so don’t be looking around…

I have a teaching gift. For years, I prayed for wisdom and revelation of the Word, and God blessed me with eyes to see and ears to hear. After sometime, I moved quite some distance away and took a break from teaching. I missed revelational studies too much, so I started praying for them again and the desire to teach was stirred up. No one knew me in the church. But one day at prayer meeting, it came to me to clean the coffee stains off of the upholstered chairs. I didn’t do it, because I thought they would think I was arrogant. A year and a half later, I realized I was completely disobedient to a request from God. I immediately repented and asked the pastor if I could please clean them. He was thrilled to permit me! It was a huge job, but two weeks into my cleaning, The Lord opened up the Bible to me with new amazing revelations. Lead by the Holy Spirit, I shared the teachings with the other teachers and the pastor. They’re in awe and happy for what the Lord showed me, because they all haven’t prayed for revelations for years like I have. Previously, I was viewed as a baby Christian, and I allowed them because I am humble. Now I’m starting to be seen as a seasoned servant. I know in my spirit down this path The Lord will move me into teaching a class and also to help lead prayer over the sick. What I want to share is that no matter how much we know, we’re never too high up in Christ to receive a call to clean stained chairs or scuffs off the wall of the sanctuary of the Most High God. Sometimes something so small, like with me, could be keeping us from walking into our greater call.

That goes along with…

Matthew 23:11 NKJV

But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Some of you that are asking for The Plan may hear some humble assignments. Do not shy away from them!! Many pastors of large churches got their start cleaning toilets as the janitor. No job in the church is beneath you. Billy Graham got his start leading prayer meetings at a nearby trailer park, not even inside the church! If you want to be called to the greater things of God, be willing to serve with a humble heart of love.

If you keep noticing something that’s bothering you in the House of God, like layers of dust up high, scuffs on the wall, or a spider web; perhaps that’s the Lord calling you to do something about it. He might be watching you watch that spider web and then watching you walk right by it. What’s even worse is then we say, “Oh God, help me with….” And sometimes He is forced to look at us like you can’t ever help Me. Amen, smile everyone! God is really on our side!! God is prepared to bless those that bless Him! He loves you! He wants to bless you, but we just have to live a blessable lifestyle. Yes, I think I made that word up, but it’s fitting.

Another way to be blessed, help carry out The Church’s Plan. Every church has a Plan of God for special assignments. Most of the churches don’t know and realize this. The pastor thought his call was to pastor a church, and just stopped right there. That’s just the start of the ministry of the church. A lot of local churches are struggling, because they never prayed out their plan. Some churches are called specifically to community outreach programs, prisons, soup kitchens, teaching to raise up ministers, abused women and children, pregnant teens, drug addictions, sex trafficked children, evangelism, politics, and so on. If pastor hasn’t shared the call of the church with you, ask him in love. He may not know, and that’s ok! Now you have a place to start in praying out the Plan of God for the church. But at the same time, that’s why it’s important to know which church people are called to in The Plan of God, because their giftings and callings will line up with that particular church. Make sure you write that down when you share with your loved ones. Sometimes we want people to come to our church, because we love it so much, but their giftings and callings match up perfecting with another church. We have to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and not become offended because we take it personally when they say no. We must stay Plan focused! The Lord will greatly bless our church and their church, and bring it up to a higher place when all the members carry out their assignments.

When you do receive The Plan, your assignment, make sure you have a teachable spirit, and you’re not full of pride and think, “I’m gifted by God, loose me and let me go out in front!”

Proverbs 9:9 NKJV

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

For some reason in the church, as a whole not here, people don’t think they need any type of training or that they need to submit to anyone. Ask yourself this question, do you want a medical doctor that didn’t think they needed training? Do you want a mechanic working on your car that took the job because it paid better than stocking groceries? Would you like an electrician replacing a plug that feels qualified because he was a fireman? No? Submit to your training with patience. While you might temporarily feel held back, you’ll slingshot faster ahead into The Plan, because you’re not stopping to learn and cleaning up mistakes as you go. Some mistakes are cheap and some mistakes are expensive. We’ll talk about this in detail in the upcoming studies.

Before we get started on how to get started on our work orders, we’re going to look at a parable.

Luke 14:16-24 NKJV

16 Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ 18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ 21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’ 22 And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ 23 Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’ ”

I like this parable because it shows us that people don’t change, 2,000 years later. The invited people are the Jews and for us it’s the Christians. They were invited/informed ahead of time. They knew it was approaching; and yet still pretended it was an impromptu surprise event.

Let’s look at the excuses why they couldn’t show up to what they were called:

- I have to see the land I bought. Who buys land without looking at it? It’s already yours, the deal is done.

- I have to test the 5 oxen. Who doesn’t test farm equipment before they buy it? It’s already yours, the deal is done.

- I have married a wife. What woman doesn’t want to get dressed up and party? Unless she’s ugly… Then you really can’t blame him for trying to hide her.

The point here is that these are stupid excuses as to why people can’t show up for their call.

- Instead of their wife, they now blame their kids. My son has football practice; he’s the star quarterback. My daughter has basketball practice; she’s going to get a scholarship.

- Instead of checking farm equipment, we work and have so many things that must get done each day which includes butt-time on the couch, checking our social media, taking pictures of what we ate, or watching our shows. Very important stuff in society lately.

- We don’t have land excuses, so today people have vacations, festivals, fishing, going to the lake, shopping, “staycations,” and wherever else that they need the summer and weekends off to relax from stress.

When you think about it, people are still making excuses about family, work, and business as to why they can’t answer the call. They’re just too busy to even consider donating an hour a week to their call.

Because they’re too busy, The Master says to bring in the maimed, lame, and blind, because they won’t refuse. I often hear this story interpreted to bring them in because they can’t pay you back. The Master was feeding those who answered the call, they weren’t required to bring in anything or pay anyone back. No. these people aren’t too busy to turn down a call to God’s goodness. The Great Supper is His goodness; but you still have to respond to the call, make time, get yourself ready, and take yourself there (on a journey) to where He’s waiting to bless you. Most people that are disabled find joy in having a purpose, and that’s Jesus’ point. People that are well have to give up their time, luxuries, and pleasures to show up to their call. They easily find other calls and purposes for their life. At the end of the story, the Master asks for anyone to come into the feast to fill it up. That’s because so many called people refuse to respond, He’s just looking for anyone to respond so He can bless them. Often times when these people come in, such as an ex-alcoholic, they get saved and immediately turn into an evangelist. Sad to say, the religious people of the church get angry! But that’s the desperation The Father has to have His Will carried out on Earth. The Christians are called to evangelize the alcoholics. They refuse, because little Johhny has ballet class after school two days a week and on Saturdays. He’s the only boy, and the little girls need a prince charming. The Master says, “Ok, chase little Johhny’s ballet dreams. I’ll make an evangelist out of one of the alcoholics! You’ll get no blessing from Me!” An important take away from this story is that The Father is angry at the people who refused the call, and they won’t be let in later when they figure out that they should have responded. We will see that taught in scripture in next week’s study.

There is a similar wedding feast story in Matthew 22. At the end in verse 14 Jesus says, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Because again, people aren’t interested in showing up to what they’re created, gifted, and blessed to accomplish. We aren’t these people! Amen!!

Now that you’re interested in God’s Plan for your life, how do you start?

Get a notebook to write The Plan that God gives you and your instructions. When you get a notebook and prepare to hear, that’s the first step in showing God you’re taking His Plan seriously and you’re ready. You must write them down, because sometimes there’s great detail and you have to follow your exact instructions.

(Share an example of why you need to follow your exact instructions no matter how small the task seems. If you need an example, my true example is below. I suggest you read yours and mine, because I will reference the chairs again in one more study.)

Remember the chair cleaning story from above? Here’s the part about how they didn’t listen to instructions...

A year and a half later, when I finally decided to clean the chairs. I bought a can of Oxi-Clean for upholstery. I spot cleaned the coffee stains off the seats and was oh-so-proud of myself. When I showed up for church two days later, there were huge cleaning marks all over the chairs. The thought of ruining the church chairs made me incredibly sick, because I felt like I might have to purchase new ones which I didn’t have the money. The chairs cost at least $50 each, and I cleaned at least 30 chairs. That’s well over $1,500!! After not being able to focus in church, not being able to eat all day, and wanting to throw up, I ran out to buy a small wet scrubbing machine. I finally calmed down enough to listen while I prayed, after desperately begging for forgiveness multiple times. The Holy Spirit dropped the understanding in my heart that there was a protective coating in the Oxi-Clean and the entire seat needed to be sprayed. He also reminded me, more like replayed the original thoughts, that the instructions came to me to use one drop of dish soap in the water, simple instructions that I messed up. I had to buy 2 more cans of the cleaner to fix my mess, and return the scrubber. When I tried the dish soap, after taking another session to fix the mess, it worked very well. Follow your instructions.

As we already talked about, some messes can be expensive to clean up.

Now that you understand the importance of following your instructions, here’s where to get started…

First: Clean Up Your Life

- Make sure your spiritual life is clean. Are there people you forgot to forgive? Maybe there is a friend from school you were offended at when you were 8 years old and swore that you’d never forgive them. These types of things we need the Holy Spirit to shine light on to clean us out. Was there a movie you watched that you knew you shouldn’t have, but pretended like it was perfectly alright? Ask the Holy Spirit to shine His light and clean you up for that as well. We’re not going to camp out or look at scripture, because we all know unforgiveness and unconfessed sin is a no-no.

- Make sure your house and car are clean. How you treat your house and car is how you will treat the ministry work. Some people will junk it up right away, others will hold out 3 months, 6 months, or even a year before the junked-up lifestyle creeps into the ministry. God is into organization, not confusion and missing things. Let’s take a quick look at this in the Bible.

Genesis 1:2 NKJV

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The Greek Text Analysis uses “formless,” for tohu. A modern translation of this word means chaos. Genesis 1:2 can be read this way, “the Earth was chaotic and void.” If you look up the definition of the word in Hebrew, ??????, it defines it as confusion, chaos, wasteland, formless, confusion, and a place void of life. If any of those words describe an area of your house, all of your house, car, garage, basement, attic, or any area you own; time to clean it out. There is a family that named an area of their kitchen “Never Never Land.” It was a space behind a piece of their kitchen counter. If something fell back there, you couldn’t retrieve it. Not just because of the difficulty in reaching down that low, because there was so much stuff in the way, you couldn’t move it anywhere to get back to the counter space to even attempt a retrieval. Never Never Land is a wasteland!

Back to the scripture, the next verse, God created the light and destroyed the chaos. According to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, light also carries the meaning of clear, and happiness. You can start to destroy the chaos in that junk room that’s void of life because it’s so full there is barely anywhere to step. Please understand! God will not hold back His Plan for your life, as long as you’re working on making some type of effort to clean up the chaos. The Lord is well pleased starting with 5 mins a day, 6 days a week.

There are instances where this type of disobedience will hinder you moving forward. There is a man that Lord told him to clean his house over 8 years ago. It’s gotten better and worse at the same time. He wants God’s Plan for his retirement, to move out of a hurricane zone, do a mighty work in his family, and do other things. In the 8 years, he isn’t directed to do anything. He gets frustrated and pretends like nothing is his fault, but he’s not fully following his instructions. He cleans things up by starting in his woodshop area and making new wood projects. Rarely he cleans in his house or garage, and when he does clean, he just junks it up again in a couple days. You know you might be in trouble with God when your 15 cans of bug spray have about 10 years of dust. Yes, it’s a problem! God will give you a space of grace, use it wisely!

Second: Purge Your House

Before we go through this part, we have to stop and talk about sin. People often say, “All sin is the same!” Astoundingly, yes and yet no. Before we look at scripture, let’s talk about it. God will be forced to judge you, and you’ll push His hand of protection off of yourself faster with spiritual sin than you will physical-flesh sins. I know that’s not something you hear preached and taught; however, it’s very true and we see that reflected in the Old Testament. God can give you grace while you’re handing fleshy sins like anger, drinking alcohol, pornography, and lying. I’m not saying it’s ok to live that way, but I am saying you have access to grace. You can train for your call while you’re dealing with flesh sins. The sins you won’t find an abundance of grace for are spiritual sins such as checking horoscopes, using healing crystals, having idols in your house, and witchcraft movies. God’s answer for any type of witchcraft is stoning (Leviticus 20:27). Then there are sins in the Old Testament like if you refuse to publicly testify of a matter you witnessed, touched an unclean thing or person, or if you spoke evil then you had to sacrifice a female lamb or goat (Leviticus 5:1-6). The punishment is not the same! The New Covenant is based on grace because of His Love, but that doesn’t mean God doesn’t feel differently about witchcraft and idols. Why is that? Let’s put it in terms we can understand… If a husband calls a wife a mean name, he can ask forgiveness and overcome it. If a husband commits a much higher sin, like forgetting his wife’s birthday, he can with lots of begging for forgiveness, excuses, and gifts can actually overcome this atrocity. But if a husband cheats on his wife, he can’t overcome that sin easily and often results in divorce. That’s because it’s a betrayal of the covenant and he became one with someone else. It doesn’t matter if he “didn’t mean it, an accident” or if it was, “just for fun.” The motive or attitude in which it was done is either very painful or extremely painful to their spouse. That’s the SAME way The Lord feels about witchcraft and idols that we might have. It’s not me using this as an example, but we see throughout the Old Testament that the Lord references Israel’s idolatry as adultery.

The way I see it, you either live a purged life-style or you must purge your house. We all think, “I don’t have anything evil!” But when you ask the Holy Spirit, He may have something different to say. Let me give you some examples of what items a couple people had to throw away…

Venus Gillette Razor – Venus, the Greek God of love, beauty, desire, sex, fertility, prosperity, and victory.

Diosa – make-up brushes – Spanish word for goddess

Disney – loaded with witchcraft, witches, and blatant spells

Nike – the Greek God of Victory

Star Bucks – an image of a real demon, depicted in Italy as a carving and also a mosaic

Dr. Bronners Soap – he wrote some religion that is very difficult to read all over the soap

Dirt Devil – vacuum

Recipe book pages – recipes that had words like voodoo, magic, devil, witch cookies, and other words that should never be associated with God

Monster Drinks – the M is made of three Hebrew number 6s

Dream Catchers – Indian medicine men beliefs

Yoga pants – according to Wikipedia, it’s a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines that originated with its own philosophy in ancient India. Stretch pants are ok!!

I’m just going to read a possible list of items, check aroma therapy bottles and what’s written on them, charms and healing crystals, horror movies, magic anything (dark magic coffee, magic erasers, magic bullet), images of demons and fairies, yinyang symbols, magic 8-balls, and anything else the Holy Spirit tells you to purge. Please don’t ask me if this item is ok or that item is ok. I don’t know! This purge is between you and the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and The Father.

This might be excessive to some people, but the question is how closely do you want to follow the Lord? Having the image of the Star Bucks demon is like a husband saying to his wife, “I’m going to display this picture of a beautiful naked air-brushed model on my cups, because I like it so much.” If you view the entire image of the Star Bucks demon, it’s naked. Google the original logo if you don’t believe me, from 1971. We don’t mean to do it, and most people don’t even know; but they’re holding a Star Bucks cup wearing Nike shoes in a prayer meeting asking God for this and that. When someone you love is in a desperate life or death situation, how important are those Nike shoes, recipe book you didn’t care to scribble out deviled eggs and write stuffed eggs, and that Star Bucks pumpkin latte that you said you can’t live without? Same when unexpected bills come in and you need God’s help! Let’s look at the Word…

Revelation 3:15-16 NKJV

15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Knowingly having idols is being lukewarm. You’re neither all for God, or all for idols. As I said before, you either went through purges or you still have to purge. No one in this day and age is exempt from it!! There are way too many items from cereal boxes to water called liquid death, demonic kids’ toys, over to car supplies, all over clothing, and tv everywhere! Even Christians are doing click-bait with demonic imagery like, “It’s ok because we’re not doing it in a good light.” Pulling this stuff out of your life can take a while. But let’s look at what the Word says…

Exodus 20:3 NKJV

You shall have no other gods before Me.

It’s not just in the sense of Me first, but before my face! Many of these items we accidently overlook are demons, demon gods, religious ideas, and sinful. Think of it this way, you have deviled eggs and you’re saying, “You want a deviled egg? I love deviled eggs!” What if the devil did show up? He’s here on Earth right now. If you cry out to God, He will be like, “He just came for the eggs.” All jokes aside, cleaner is the ability to get closer to the Lord. How clean you want to be and how close you want to be is your decision.

This is not required to move forward in The Plan, but since we’re on the subject it’s helpful for healing in your life. Sometimes people must purge old pictures, old love letters, clothing a bed event occurred, or anything else that has a bad emotion attached to it. No object should ever have the power to cut open an old wound. Some people save those pictures because they think, “What if he comes back?” What if he doesn’t? If you throw that picture out or other items and in the future the relationship changes, be of good cheer because that picture or item will be in Heaven. That’s the peace that we have here on Earth. We’re not leaving family, pets, or items here on Earth that we can’t have in Heaven. This Earth isn’t better!! Nothing here is better!! God will fill our mansions with pictures, videos, and things that we had affection for here on Earth. Think about it this week, what did we think would be in our mansion? Your things!! You see an old toy from childhood, OOHH, you get so excited and it brings up fond memories. Those things will be there. Earth is a temporary stop before our eternal home.

Third: Read the Word

If you want to be assigned something great, you cannot go very far not knowing the Word. If you don’t regularly read, start with 10 minutes a day in the New Testament. If you have a really bad focus problem, find a YouTube Video of someone reading the Word. Turn the speed up to 2.0 and follow along in the Bible. It will force your attention and focus. I don’t recommend that be a normal way to read the Bible, but as a start it’s great for those with serious focusing issues.

Now that you’re ready, put on some praise and worship music. Sing a couple songs and start talking to the Lord about His Plan that He placed on your life. You don’t have to fully completely forgive that person that hurt you, finish cleaning up your house, or doing the purge before you start asking. God will give you grace for moving in the right direction!!

Don’t forget that as you go through cleaning and seeking God for His Plan and His Purpose for your life; there will absolutely be rewards for you! You’re seeking His Plan and His Presence in your home.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

This is diligently seeking the Lord, and it’s ok to expect rewards and blessings. If God didn’t bless us, we’d be slave labor.

Thank you for going through this study with me. Next week, I will be sharing some big revelations on two parables that I received. They’re about what happens to those that refuse to walk out their plan or start and then stop. You won’t want to miss next week!! This will be especially good for helping your loved ones move forward, if they have minimal interest in their plan.
