About Christi
  • Education: I no longer wish to associate with the denomination I started with. While they taught me good things, I moved in a different direction.
  • Experience: Years of teaching, studying, and pouring over boring information to find a gem.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I love studying the Word. If you don't agree with me, that's ok please move on. I was corrected many years ago, and I'm no longer interested in an argument. I don't believe in publicly correcting or insulting others, that's outside of God's love no matter how many excuses we make for fleshy actions. My knowledge is a result of study, prayer, and the gift that God has given me. God honors those that study. My teachings have depth from the Holy Spirit. If you're looking for a cute message for women, you won't ever find that here. The Bible is a deep treasure. The more we dig and share what we find in love, the more God will allow us to find. I'm a Bible study teacher not a preacher. You'd have to put your preaching gift on my teaching gift and change what I wrote for a typical Sunday morning service. There is always ample information to choose what's right for your group. What you'll find in the teachings are more suited for Sunday School or Tuesday/Wednesday night Bible study. These aren't "feel good" studies, but truth so people can grow up and actually become mature Christians. If you go to my website, I have PDFs for easier reading and printing for teaching. I use bold, italics, and underlines for emphasis. I use grey writing for my stories, which can be easily swapped out for yours without losing your place. I highly encourage you to keep driving home the point for people to take notes. When trouble comes, people run to others and meltdown. We don't want that. The Lord sees in the future, and often times the answers came from the pastor weeks or even months before in their notes. It's a matter of the Holy Spirit highlighting a teaching and scriptures for the future. Often times people won't write notes and play on their cellphone. They go on crying how God's teaching them a lesson, or won't help them because...blah blah blah.. God is the God of time, and not limited to providing help after a problem occurs. Please encourage notetaking! I mostly quote NKJV, even though I'm a KJV fan. I occasionally use Original Hebrew writing that has been recently translated to English. I rarely use any other translation and will state specifically why I am doing it, though I have little respect for modern translation that include the writer's interpretation of scripture. While some of those translations sound excellent, if the Holy Spirit didn't say it, He didn't say it!!!
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: First, hearing that God wasn't mad at me! Second, I was visiting a church. My mother leaned over and whispered to me, "This pastor is boring. He's just reading the Bible, and making every obvious comment." And then I replied, "Captain Obvious!" As I began to chuckle, I heard inside me, "Can you do any better?" I was freaked out, and I thought, "No!" I was about 21. I immediately humbled myself and started praying, "Lord, teach me to teach." It changed my life. A big thank you to Pastor Captain-Obvious.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My Father is in Heaven. He absolutely loves everything I teach! My mother on the other hand, she gets that look like, "Oh great.. here we go again!" hahaha
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: God loves us. We can't speak enough about His love. If we were able to fully understand His love, we wouldn't struggle with anything in life.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: When I was first starting out, I skipped a page in the lesson plan for teens, and read, "This is the perfect 'peanut butter and jelly sandwich' story," like it was my own comment. It made no sense. They called me out on it and I tried to talk my way out of that embarrassment... and then passed out mini Reese's PB cups I had in my church bag.
