Summary: God caused the waters of the Red Sea to come crashing down on the Egyptian chariots and horses so that not one of them survived. And the Children of Israel broke out in a song! Today we must sing the song of Moses and declare that God is our Strength, God is our Song and God is our Salvation!

Exodus 15:1-2 (NKJV)

“I Will Sing”

September 7, 2025

In the time of Moses, the Israelites sang a song to the LORD after the crossing of the Red Sea recorded in Exodus 15 – “I will sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” The song continues in verse 3, “The Lord is a man of war; The Lord is His name. Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. The depths have covered them; They sank to the bottom like a stone.” The children of God have just witnessed Him in His magnificent strength and glory! They were in awe at His work and feared and believed in the LORD their God! They saw with their own eyes the power of God that will be spoken of for thousands of years to come. They will tell their children and grandchildren of how God turned the river into blood, then how the poisoned river brought forth frogs, and how the dead frogs brought forth lice, and after that God sent a swarm of flies to attack only the Egyptians because there were no flies in Goshen. But Pharoah King of Egypt hardened his heart still so God sent a plague on only the Egyptian livestock, and then painful boils and sores and then God rained hail and fire on land and then locust and then three days of darkness, day and night there was no light in Egypt but only light in Goshen with the children of Israel. But Pharoah hardened his heart still and would not let the Hebrews go. Then God instructed Moses to teach the people how to prepare for Passover because the angel of death was coming and he was instructed to “Pass Over” any home in Egypt or Goshen that had the blood of an unblemished lamb smeared over the door. So when the angel saw the blood he passed over, but where there was no sacrificial blood the angel of death took the life of the first born of every family both man and beast. So God told Moses to teach the people to remember this day and keep it as a memorial that they might never forget that salvation is in the blood of the lamb. So when God struck the son of Pharoah and there was a cry in the land he let the Hebrew go. And when they left, they did not go empty! The Egyptians gave them of their own treasures. But Pharoah’s heart became hardened again and chased after the Hebrews so that they were trapped between the army of Egypt and the Red Sea. And God told Moses to stretch out his rod over the sea and Moses said to the people, "stand still and see the salvation of the Lord." And God caused the waters to stand up on end so that His children could walk across on dry land. The enemy tried to follow but as soon as His children made it across God caused the waters to come crashing down on the soldiers and chariots so that not one of them survived. And Moses and the Children of Israel broke out in a song! Today we must sing the song of Moses and declare that God is our Strength, God is our Song and God is our Salvation!

My Strength - “The LORD is my strength” God doesn’t want you to say, “God helps those who help themselves.” He wants you to say, “God IS my strength. God IS my All in All!” He wants you to turn to Christ with every sin, every guilt, every problem, every ache, every sorrow. He wants you to turn to Jesus not just as a last resort - but as a first resort, second resort, and every resort. That, my family, is the true meaning of trusting God as your strength. In Romans 8 the Apostle teaches, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” This verse highlights the reality of God's saving power and His willingness to rescue His people at any cost. Just as God intervened on behalf of the early church, He continues to be our deliverer today, rescuing us from sin, bondage, and every form of oppression. In times of trouble, we can confidently trust in God's saving grace, knowing that He is our ultimate source of strength and victory. David said in Psalm 27 “The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident.” The LORD is my Strength!

My Song - “The LORD is my strength and my song” Not only is God our Strength, Moses reminds us that God is also our Song! Isaiah declares that “the Lord God is our strength and our song; He has given me victory.” ILLS: I sing like my mother, and we make a joyful noise unto the Lord, but I remember when my father, Deacon Larry B. Grant, who has a beautiful voice, sang from the front pew of Revival Center Church on the South Side of Chicago in the 70’s when I was a little boy growing up during an epidemic of gang violence, “Victory is mine! Victory is mine, Victory today is mine. I told Satan to get thee behind, Victory today is mine.” Not only is the Lord my strength, He is my song! “When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and what He has done for me, my soul cries out, Hallelujah! Praise God for saving me!” In Him, we find the power to overcome adversity and the courage to face each day with confidence. Our song does not come from our dependance on our own abilities or circumstances but from the unchanging character of God. In Psalm 28, “The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving." The Psalmist has a song because of his unwavering trust in God's unfailing strength. When we place our trust in Him wholeheartedly, we experience His divine assistance and find our hearts filled with joy and gratitude. Our trust in God is not misplaced; rather, it is the foundation of our confidence and hope. In Psalm 104, “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” In Psalm 96, “Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! Sing to the Lord , all the earth. Sing to the Lord , bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised!” The LORD is my Song!

My Salvation - “The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.” There is no more complete term that you can use than to say God has become my salvation. I was far, but God brought me near. I was lost, but now I’m found. I was blind, but now I see. I was enslaved, but now I’m saved! He has become my salvation! He is the originator of it, the executor of it, and the deliverer of it. Peter said it this way (Acts 4), “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” He completely created us, redeemed us, and drew us to faith. He tore us out of this dead world and from the flames of hell, and through faith brought us to Himself, filling us with His forgiveness, mercy and love in Christ. He literally IS our Salvation. When we face challenges and uncertainties, we can find refuge in the assurance of God's salvation. He is our stronghold in times of trouble, and His promises never fail. As we trust in His saving grace, we can overcome fear and doubt, knowing that He is faithful to deliver us from every situation. I know that so many people today are living life without hope. They are worn out from work. They are depressed from failed relationships. They feel like everything was due yesterday, and they don’t have the time or energy or strength to deal with it today. God has a lifeline for your situation, and His name is Jesus! Salvation in Christ will get you right with God and when you are at peace with God then you will be able to handle the negative effect of sin on this world. True salvation will motivate you to tell somebody, “The LORD is my strength and my song and my salvation!” Isaiah said in the last days we will all sing that song together; Jew and Gentile in God’s Kingdom singing (12:2), "Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The YAH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." The LORD is my Salvation!
