Go! And Call to Me - Jeremiah 33:2–3
Jeremiah 33:2–3 (NLT): “This is what the Lord says—the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the Lord: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”
INTRODUCTION:
Have you ever felt stuck? Trapped by life’s circumstances? Silenced by uncertainty? Shackled by fear of the future? You’re not alone. And more importantly, God is not silent.
Our key verse today—Jeremiah 33:2–3—is a divine invitation. Not to a lecture, but to a conversation. Not to empty religion, but to living revelation. And not to just any information, but to what the Lord calls “remarkable secrets”—deep, transforming truth that can only come from Him.
In the heart of our theme today—“Go! And Call to Me”—we’re going to explore God’s promise to those who seek Him. We’ll see how this message not only pointed forward to the redemption of Israel but ultimately points to the greatest revelation of all: the person and work of Jesus Christ. The call is clear—Call to God, and receive Christ.
PART 1: WHO IS SPEAKING? (Jeremiah 33:2)
“This is what the Lord says—the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the Lord…”
Jeremiah is speaking during a dark season in Israel’s history. Jerusalem is under siege. The people are in rebellion. Jeremiah himself is in prison (Jer. 33:1). But God speaks anyway. He’s not hindered by bars or walls.
This declaration begins with a reminder of God’s sovereignty:
“The Lord who made the earth…” — ‘Yahweh’, the covenant-keeping God.
The Hebrew root ‘bara’ (??????)—to create something out of nothing. This is the same Creator God we encounter in Genesis 1:1. He is not a passive observer—He is the active architect of all existence.
God’s power to form and establish the earth means He has power to reform and re-establish your life.
He made the cosmos—He can remake your chaos.
He formed the galaxies—He can form godliness in you.
John Piper said: “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.”
And that’s exactly what the Lord is pointing out to Jeremiah. “Call to me—not to understand everything—but to understand enough to trust Me.”
God’s greatness is not meant to distance us—but to draw us in.
He says: “I’m the Lord who made the earth—and I want you to talk to Me.”
PART 2: THE INVITATION TO CALL (Jeremiah 33:3a)
“Ask me…”
The Hebrew here is rich. The word for ask is ????? – qara’, meaning to call out, cry aloud, summon.
This is not a casual whisper—it’s a desperate shout from a child to their Father.
This isn’t a one-time instruction. It echoes a consistent biblical pattern:
Psalm 50:15 (NLT): “Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”
Joel 2:32 (NLT): “But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved…”
The God who formed the earth invites frail humanity to call out to Him. What grace! What love! What mercy!
Max Lucado once said: “Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it—not the one who says it—our prayers do make a difference.”
Amen! That means even in your prison—emotional, relational, spiritual—you can still call, and God will still answer.
PART 3: THE PROMISE TO RESPOND (Jeremiah 33:3b)
“…and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”
“Remarkable secrets” is from the Hebrew ?????????? ?????????? – gadoloth batsaroth, referring to things that are hidden, fenced off, or inaccessible without divine revelation.
God is not offering a curiosity—He’s offering a divine unveiling. These “secrets” aren’t numerology or mysteries—they are truths that only God can reveal, ultimately fulfilled in Christ.
What’s the greatest “secret” God ever revealed?
It’s no longer a secret—it’s a Person.
Colossians 1:26–27 (NLT): “This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you.”
Charles Stanley put it this way: “The Bible is clear: Jesus is God’s final Word to mankind. To know the will of God, we must look to Jesus Christ.”
When God says “Call to Me,” He isn’t just offering help—He’s offering Himself. And in Jesus Christ, the fullness of God’s revelation is seen (Hebrews 1:1–3).
PART 4: THE ULTIMATE REVELATION—THE GOSPEL
Friends, here is the truth that changes everything:
God made you.
Sin broke you.
Jesus came to redeem you.
4.1 Christ’s Death, Burial, and Resurrection
Jesus lived the perfect life you and I could not live.
He died on the cross, bearing the full weight of your sin and mine.
He was buried in a borrowed tomb.
And three days later, He rose victorious—defeating death, sin, and hell.
Romans 5:8 (NLT): “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
And now, God says, “Call to Me.”
Not just with your lips, but with your life.
Not just in panic, but in repentance.
Not just for answers, but for salvation.
PART 5: APPLICATION — HOW SHALL WE THEN LIVE?
Real Prayer, Real Faith
This passage calls us to:
Pursue intimacy with God through prayer
Expect revelation not just for information but for transformation
Trust that God hears and speaks, even in our darkest seasons
R.T. Kendall said: “The greatest tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but unoffered prayer.”

5.2 Real Life: The Story of George Müller
George Müller, who ran orphanages in Bristol, never asked man for a penny. He simply prayed—and over his lifetime, the Lord provided millions of pounds’ worth of resources for thousands of orphans.
His secret?
He believed Jeremiah 33:3.
He called.
God answered.
And He will answer you too.
PART 6: INVITATION TO SALVATION
Today, friend, if you’ve never called upon Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, I urge you—don’t delay.
Romans 10:13 (NLT): “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
There is no secret formula, no hidden ritual. Just a simple cry of faith:
“Lord Jesus, I need You. I believe You died and rose for me. Forgive me. Save me. Be my Lord and Saviour.”
If you pray that from your heart—God will answer.
Your name will be written in the Book of Life.
Your heart will be made new.
Your eternity will be secured in Christ.
CONCLUSION: Go! And Call to Him
Let me leave you with this:
God is speaking.
God is inviting.
God is waiting.
“Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”
He is not a distant deity. He is the Divine Revealer, the God who saves, the Saviour who speaks.
So Go! And Call to Him. And He will answer.
