Joyful Sounds
Psalm 89:15-18
Intro.
TEXT: Psa. 89:15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of
thy countenance.
There are some sounds we like to hear.
A baby’s laughter
Good music
Others (?)
The dinner bell
For the believer there are some joyful sounds we are expecting to hear one day.
To the believer they will be joyful sounds.
To the unbeliever, well, I don’t think they will hear them at all.
They will be the sounds of the Rapture, the day that Jesus takes us off this earth.
As he promised.
John 14:1-3
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (16)
I. A Shout. Vs 16
A. It is the voice of God
B. I think I know what the shout will be.
1. Come! (Rev. 4:1)
2, Ya-la! (Indian language)
D. It will be the announcement of His coming.
??1. “The Lord himself shall descend from heaven”

2. Keeping his promise: “I will come again”
E. One day… the shout will be heard to come.

II. The voice of the archangel. Vs. 16
A. In the Bible there are several kinds of angels.
1. Seraphim - God’s guards
2. Cherubim – God’s servants
3. Archangel – The chief angel
a. Only Michael is mentioned in the Bible
b. He is a warrior angel??c. A leader
c. A General of sorts
B.. All of them praise the Lord.
C. We will hear the sound of his voice.
D. So what will he say?
1. Charge!(?)
2. “Follow me” - Teddy Roosevelt??
3. Shouting as he leads the host of heaven welcome the saints home to heaven. .
III. The trump of God. Vs. 16
A. I always thought it would be like a modern trumpet.
B. However there is a trumpet used in the Bible.
1. It was called a Shofar.
2. t was used with very specific sounds
3. Paul warned… For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself
to the battle? (1 Co 14:8)
4. Only certain people could blow it.
5, There were four sounds.
a. It was use to call assembly. (Ex. 19:13)
b. It was used to mark Festivals and Holy days.
??1) Atonement??b.
2)Feasts??.
3) New Year
4). It was used at the presenting of the Law
c. It was used in battle.
C. So what sound do we listen for.
1.The call to assembly
2. All of God’s people will assemble at God’s Throne.
1Th. 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Conclusion.
It will be a very certain sound
Will you hear it when Jesus comes?
