When His Glory Fills His House

April 13, 2025

Intro: In the history of Israel, after having worshiped God at the Tabernacle, are now standing before a magnificent Temple that 1 Kings 9:10 says it took 20 years to build. They have gathered before the Lord to seek His blessing and to entreat Him to pour out of His Spirit upon that House. Chapter 6 is the record of Solomon's prayer to the Lord at this great dedication service. When he finished praying, the Lord answered by sending fire from Heaven to consume the burnt offering and by filling His House with His Glory.

I. THE PROCESS - 2 Chronicles 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD - at Jerusalem - in mount Moriah where the LORD appeared unto David his father - in the place that David had prepared in the threshing floor - of Ornan the Jebusite - And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

There is a relationship between: God’s Promise, God’s Process & God’s Purpose!

1. God’s Promise will be fulfilled regardless of the Process He is taking you through.

2. We may never understand the Purpose of God’s Process until we see Him Face to Face.

3. But rest assured that there is ALWAYS a Purpose in the Processes of God.

David offered a sacrifice on this threshing floor which belonged to Ornan the Jebusite (1 Chronicles 21 teaches that King David demanded that the land be bought from Ornan for the sacrifice when Ornan wanted to give it to him free).

After the sacrifice, nothing left but ashes! - - - GREAT THINGS HAVE BEEN BUILT ON ASHES! “YOU MAY NOT SEE IT NOW But, Your labor is not in vain in the Lord!”

• From the ashes of sweat, can come great achievements.

• From the ashes of labor, can come great reward.

• From the ashes of discipline, can come great success.

• From the ashes of tenacity, can come great triumphs.

• From the ashes of faithfulness, can come great ministry.

ILLS: Mother York of Chicago would visit the prisons and preach to the inmates every week. She was often asked if she was wasting her time because some of the men would turn back to a life of crime when they were released. She said, “God did not call me to measure my successes or failures, He called me to be faithful!”

The Psalmist says in 138 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me:

Philippians 1:6 teaches us to Be confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

II. THE PRAYER - The Bible says, “When Solomon had finished praying.”

In Ch. 6 God honors a praying people, because a praying people honor God!

A. V. 22-23 He Prayed about Sinners – “if anyone sins against his neighbor…” Solomon asks that Conflict Resolution be settled before the presence of the Lord in prayer. I am convinced that there would be far less trouble and confusion in the World if the Lord's people would learn to work out their issues in the Church. We must beware that we never allow the church to become a place where those who have strayed away are not welcomed home. COME HOME!

B. V. 24-25 He Prayed about Soldiers – “if Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy…” Solomon calls upon the Lord to hear the cry of the battle-weary believer. Ephesians 6:12 “For WE WRESTLE not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” There are those who get wounded while fighting. The place to bring them is to the House of Prayer. DON’T LEAVE THE WOUNDED ON THE BATTLEFIELD!

C. V. 26-30 He Prayed about Seasons – “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain… in the land” Prayer is the remedy for ALL our problems. 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

D. V. 32-33 He Prayed about Strangers – “concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel…” here we see that even the people who weren't part God's covenant with Israel were welcomed to come to and to call on the Lord. What a lesson to the modern church. Never lose sight of the needs of Stranger!

E. V. 40-42 He Prayed about Saints – “Let Your priests, O LORD God, be clothed in salvation, and let Your saints rejoice in goodness.” Our church needs to be a place where the servants and the saints can find sanctuary.

III. THE PRAISE - The Bible says that when Solomon finished praying, the fire of God fell from Heaven, consumed the sacrifice and the people began to praise the God of Glory. When they saw His Glory, their posture changed! And they said, "For He is good, For His mercy endures forever." Ephesians 1:12 says “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.” The Glory of the Lord FILLED His House! EVERY NOOK & EVERY CORNER was filled with His presence and glory. Paul asks in 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… When God showed up, everybody knew it! Even the priests in their holy robes were unable to enter the Temple, Because God is not going to share His glory with anyone! Jesus said in Matthew 12:42 “… behold, a greater than Solomon is here.” Colossians 1:27 says that God made known a MYSTERY “… among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV) states, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” If I am your temple Lord, FILL ME WITH YOUR GLORY!
