I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD… TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF…

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (YouTube: Wade Hughes)

WHY TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF? MOSES PUTS HIS SHOES ON ONE MORNING AND WILL NEVER BE THE SAME… I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD: TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF YOU ARE STANDING ON HOLY GROUND! SEE THE BURNING BUSH!

Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Exodus 3:5 (NLT2) “Do not come any closer,” the LORD warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.

Exodus 3:5 (NASB) Then He said, "Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground."

TO TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF IS A SIGN OF RESPECT AND REVERENCE.

TO TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF MEANS YOU ARE AT A FRIENDS HOUSE OR YOU ARE HOME.

YOU TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF WHEN YOU ARE ON THE BEACH TO ENJOY THE SAND.

TO TAKE YOU SHOES OFF IS A SIGN OF HUMBLENESS.

BY TAKING YOUR SHOES OFF YOU ARE REVEALING YOU ARE VUNERABLE, UNWORTHY.

YOU TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF BECAUSE THEY MAY BE DIRTY. (HOLINESS, SACRED)

TO TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF WAS A SIGN OF MAKING A COVENANT.

Ruth 4:4 (NASB) "So I thought to inform you, saying, 'Buy it before those who are sitting here, and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if not, tell me that I may know; for there is no one but you to redeem it, and I am after you.'" And he said, "I will redeem it."

Ruth 4:7 (NASB) Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning the redemption and the exchange of land to confirm any matter: a man removed his sandal and gave it to another; and this was the manner of attestation in Israel. 8 So the closest relative said to Boaz, "Buy it for yourself." And he removed his sandal. The rainbow is a sign of a covenant. Taking your shoes off is a sign.

HIGH TIME: HURRY, MAKE HASTE!

Romans 13:11 (NASB) Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.

YOU ARE GOING TO EAT YOUR LAST BITTER MEAL IN SLAVERY IN EGYPT … IT IS GOING TO BE A BITTER MEAL. PUT YOUR SHOES ON AND HAVE YOUR STAFF IN YOUR HAND… BE READY… READY TO GO.

Exodus 12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

Exodus 12:8-9 (NLT2) That same night they must roast the meat over a fire and eat it along with bitter salad greens and bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat any of the meat raw or boiled in water. The whole animal—including the head, legs, and internal organs—must be roasted over a fire

GOD SAYS TO MOSES GET THE PEOPLE READY. WE MUST COME IN COMPLETE TRUST…

ANYONE CAN PRAISE GOD WHEN THE RED SEA PARTS! IT IS EASY TO PRAISE GOD WHEN YOU SEE THE WHEELS COME OFF THE ENEMIES’ CHARIOT… PRAISE GOD….

Exodus 12:11 (NLT2) “These are your instructions for eating this meal: Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the LORD’s Passover.

Exodus 12:11 (NASB) 'Now you shall eat it in this manner: with your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste—it is the LORD'S Passover.

HAVE YOUR STAFF IN YOUR HAND AS YOU EAT… CARRY YOUR STAFF, ROD! MAYBE WE CAN’T SEE THE SUN, BUT THE SHADOW DOES. THE SHADOW SHOWS THERE IS LIGHT SOMEWHERE.

The DIFFERENCE IN A FIDDLE AND A VIOLIN? IS HOW YOU PLAY IT.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

THE ROD IS A SYMBOL OF PROTECTION AND CORRECTION.

THE STAFF GUIDES AND COMFORTS.

GOD SENDS ANGELS BEFORE YOU… TO PREPARE YOUR WAY.

Exodus 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

WE GO THROUGH SEASONS, PUT YOUR SHOES ON AND LET US MARCH FORWARD. JERICHO KNEW FOR 40 YEARS THE NATION OF ISRAEL WAS COMING. 40 YEARS JERICHO BUILT THE WALLS HIGHER AND THICKER, DID THIS HINDER GOD’S MOVE?

Moses is dead. Joshua is the leader. God calls them to face the biggest obstacle in all the promise land first.

Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

God proved at Jericho he would keep his promises if they would trust him. Victory is guaranteed. Just trust God. Why were the children of Israel told to be quiet while walking around the walls for 6 days? JOSHUA TAUGHT THE PEOPLE TO HAVE FAITH IN God’s plan. We must trust God’s plan.

Joshua 6:10 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

God helped them find favor in Rahab’s house. They saved Rahab and allthat were in her house where the scarlet cord hung out the window.

Joshua 6:20 So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

THE PRODIGAL SON COMES HOME TO BE A SLAVE FOR HIS FAILURES. SLAVES WERE BAREFOOTED. THE FREE WORE SHOES. LOOK THE FATHER FORGAVE HIM AND LOOK THE SON IS NOT BAREFOOTED HE IS ACCEPTED WITH SHOES.

Luke 15:22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

CONCLUSION: MY FRIENDS LET US GET READY, THE LAST BITTER MEAL IN EGYPT WE ARE GOING TO EAT. GRAB YOUR ROD/STAFF PUT YOUR SHOES ON… WE ARE GOING TO ACCEPT THE PROMISE LAND AND GO HOME. SURE THERE IS A TIME TO TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES. NOW IS THE TIME TO PUT YOUR SHOES ON AND CLAIM WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY OURS, THE BEST IS YET TO COME THAT IS NOT A DREAM, THAT IS A PROMISE!
