1. Jesus Declares He Is the Only Way
"Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’" (John 14:6, NLT)
This verse comes from Jesus’ conversation with His disciples during the Last Supper. Jesus was preparing them for His departure and assuring them of their future with Him. Thomas asked how they could know the way to the Father, prompting Jesus’ profound statement.
The way (hodos in Greek): Jesus is the exclusive path to reconciliation with God. His death and resurrection bridge the gap sin created.
The truth (aletheia): Jesus embodies ultimate reality, revealing God’s character and will.
The life (zoe): Jesus grants eternal, abundant life. This life is not only endless but filled with purpose and communion with God.
Jesus’ claim leaves no room for ambiguity—He alone provides access to the Father.

Tim Keller wrote, "If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all He said; if He didn’t rise from the dead, why worry about anything He said?" His resurrection confirms His exclusive claims.
Imagine being lost in a vast forest with no map. A guide appears, saying, "Follow me; I know the way out." To reject him would be to choose to stay lost. Jesus is our guide out of the wilderness of sin—trust Him.
2. Jesus’ Unique Role as Mediator
"For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5, NLT)
Paul, writing to Timothy, emphasises the singularity of God and Christ’s unique role as mediator. A mediator is someone who stands between two parties to bring reconciliation.
The Greek word for "mediator" (mesites) highlights Jesus’ role as the bridge between a holy God and sinful humanity. No one else can fulfil this role because only Jesus is fully God and fully man. His dual nature uniquely qualifies Him to reconcile us to God through His sacrifice.
When you face guilt, shame, or a sense of separation from God, remember Jesus as your mediator. He intercedes for you and grants you access to the Father. Don’t look to your own efforts—rest in His completed work.

Jesus’ mediation is rooted in God’s love and grace. His death proves His commitment to reconciling us to the Father.

3. Jesus’ Authority Over Life and Death
"Jesus told her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.’" (John 11:25, NLT)
Jesus spoke these words to Martha after the death of her brother Lazarus. In declaring Himself the resurrection, Jesus revealed His power over death and His promise of eternal life to all who believe.
Resurrection (anastasis in Greek): Jesus is the source of new life, both physical and spiritual. His resurrection guarantees our future resurrection.
Life (zoe): Jesus provides eternal life, a quality of existence defined by fellowship with God.
Jesus not only conquers death but transforms it into a gateway to eternal life.

Jesus’ victory over death is absolute. He holds the keys, signifying His authority to grant life to those who believe in Him.

Think of a lifeguard rescuing someone drowning. The lifeguard doesn’t just point the way to safety; they personally pull the person to shore. Jesus doesn’t merely show us how to live—He saves us completely.
