The Revelation Land
Genesis 22.
Jerusalem is built on Mount Moriah. Surrounding Jerusalem is the land of Moriah. Moriah is the land of the holy city.
Remember, In Genesis 22, God gave Abraham instructions, leave go to Moriah, take your son and slay him there.
So what exactly is the land of Moriah? What does it mean?
Moriah comes from two Hebrew words, the first means, the seen, the visible, the shown, or, the revealed.
The other Hebrew word is Yah, the name of God.
So Moriah means, the revealed of God.
The geographical location of the Garden of Eden would be in the land of Moriah. Abraham was told to take his son Isaac to the land of Moriah and sacrifice him there. The land of Moriah is where Joseph desired to be buried, Joseph said, take my body away from pagans, take it to Moriah. Abraham purchased land to be buried there, his entire family was buried in Moriah.
-They did not want to be buried in the land of corruption, but in the land of Moriah, the land of Canaan, the land of revelation, the land of milk and honey.
Solomons’s Temple was built in Moriah. The Temple Mount, Mount Zion, and the Garden of Gethsemane or (Olives).
And remember, Jesus was crucified in the land of Moriah.
Jesus was buried in that land, rouse from the dead in Moriah, ascended, and he will come back to the land of Moriah when he splits the Eastern sky.
Moriah is the land of revelation, the place where God will reveal himself.
We will look verse by verse from, Genesis 22.
Genesis 22.1-2NIV “Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
Remember, Abraham was 100, Sara was 90, when their son was born. It was a miraculous birth, they named him Isaac, which means, “laughter.” (Both Abraham and Sara laughed a lot in, Moriah).
This testimony needed to be shared: We all laughed, because of this miracle conception, -the birth of Isaac! -God is unbelievable, isn't He?
Genesis 22.3-5NIV Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. 5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. -We will worship and then we will come back to you.”
Abraham loaded the donkey and prepared the wood. -Isaac will carry the wood!
This historical document states, Abraham spoke up, and told his two servants, “Stay here, me and Isaac will return after worship.”
* Sounds like a New Testament believer, sounds like someone that is blood bought, someone that has full knowledge that they are in Jesus Christ!
Jesus states in, John 15.4-6NIV “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”
Do you trust God, or do you think now you are God? Do your own thing now that you’re saved?
A young woman brought her fiancé home to meet her parents for thanksgiving dinner. After dinner, her mother told her father to find out about the young man. The father invited the fiancé to his study for a talk. "So what are your plans?" the father asked the young man. "I am a biblical scholar," he replied. "A Biblical scholar. Hmmm," the father said. "Admirable, but what will you do to provide a nice house for my daughter to live in?” "I will study," the young man replied, "and God will provide for us.” "And how will you buy her a beautiful engagement ring, such as she deserves?" asked the father. "I will concentrate on my studies," the young man replied, "God will provide for us.” "And children?" asked the father. "How will you support children?” "Don’t worry, sir, God will provide," replied the fiancé. The conversation proceeded like this, and each time the father questioned, the young idealist insisted that God would provide. Later, the mother asked, "How did it go, Honey?" The father answered, "He has no job and no plans, and he thinks I’m God!"
If you remain in Jesus Christ there will be unity. He will provide, God will see, God will be Jehovah-Jirah, the Lord your provided!
Genesis 22.6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and Abraham carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together,
Issac carried his own sacrifice, He carried the wood that he would be tied down to, and Isaac would be killed.
Genesis 22.7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Can I remind you that the Lamb, is God’s doing!
Again, on that same hill (Moriah), Jesus would become the perfect sacrifice and He would be crucified on Mount Moriah.
Genesis 22.8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.
This was a powerful faith statement, Abraham knew the nature of Jehovah God, he remembered the laughter of he and his wife when they conceived.
Genesis 22.9-10 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.
Let me remind you, Abraham built an altar, bound his son Isaac, and placed him on top of the wood, then Abraham reached out his hand, took the knife to kill his son.
Be reminded that the Romans soldiers did not kill Jesus, nor did the religious kill His only Son, God allowed it, to save the world.
Romans 5.8NIV But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Wow, Isaac bound to the altar. Can’t you see Abraham, crying, and worshiping while believing God around the altar, the sacrifice Isaac, would be killed! P.H
There’s a lot of shadows, and types of Abraham and God.
Hebrews 11.1-2AMP “Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. 2 For by this [kind of] faith the men of old gained [divine] approval.”
Abraham was ready to kill, while Issac submitted himself as the sacrifice, but God, God wasn’t ready!
However, 1,767 (17 centuries) later, God would be ready to slay his only begotten son to save each and every person on the face of the Earth.
All he asked is to believe, believe with the faith of Abraham.
Genesis 22.11-12 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
Prayer: Thank you Father for releasing your Son, your only Son, to be the supreme sacrifice for mankind.
Genesis 22.13-14NIV Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
Take your son (Issac) with you to Moriah, sacrifice Isaac there.
Hear this Word, The revelation you received in Moriah, the sacrifices you make in Moriah, will give you the insight you’ll need. P.H
Many see God as some sort of distant King, an impersonal cosmic force, a puppet-master, or an angry judge, wanting to bring judgment.
However, Moriah is the land where God is to be revealed, where the invisible becomes visible.
Romans 4:18-21NIV “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Therefore, that which appears in Moriah will be the true revelation of the true God.
So what was it that was revealed in the land of Moriah?
What was the revelation of God that was made visible in that land?
The Temple? The temple was in Jerusalem. However, there’s another manifestation, a revelation of God, even more graphic and amazing than the temple.
It was in the land of Moriah, that God appeared, taking our sins and our judgment upon himself. It was in the land of Moriah, that God willingly gave his life, wearing a crown of thorns, being beaten, scourged, and bloodied because of us…
It was in Moriah, the mountain of God.
It was in Moriah, that God was mocked, ridicule, beaten, stripped naked, pierced through, impaled, and raised up on a wooden execution stake.
It was in Moriah that God hung on a cross, His love was made complete, unconditional, extreme, incomprehensible, and self sacrificing cosmic love for us…
God is the greatest love and care we will ever know. That is the absolute, and ultimate revelation of God that was manifested once and for all, in Moriah…The land of God revealed.
Jesus, bleeding, suffocating, dying, agonizing, and breathing his last breath… And doing it all to save us from judgment… Doing it all because of love.
It was all in Moriah, the land of God revealed... It’s the land of revelation, The land where God sees, It’s the land where God is called, Jehovah Jirah.
Psalm 122.1-9NIV I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” 2 And now here we are, standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is a well-built city; its seamless walls cannot be breached. 4 All the tribes of Israel—the Lord’s people- make their pilgrimage here. They come to give thanks to the name of the Lord, as the law requires of Israel. 5 Here stand the thrones where judgment is given, the thrones of the dynasty of David. 6 Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper.
7 O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. 8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “May you have peace.” 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.
4 Facts:
Moriah is for you. For your sinful ways, Jesus died.
Because of Moriah we can be holy.
Moriah is the breeding ground for miracle.
In Moriah, your revelation will be found.
Benediction. Father God, let us be reminded that great things occur while on the mountain of God. -God accomplished this for the sake of His church, and for His people.
