Summary: God's plan may seem so twisted. We have an anchor. Good comes out of bad. Hang on... try again.

TEXT:

Zechariah 9:12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee;

Zechariah 9:12 (NIV) 12 Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

Zechariah 9:12 (NLT2) Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles.

I WANT TO BE A HOPE GIVER.

I found this note in the garbage can at church. (Not signed)

I HATE MY LIFE AND I WANNA DIE. I DON’T HAVE A PHONE.

I HATE MY LIFE, I HATE MY LIFE AND I WANT TO DIE.

I DON’T HAVE AN “I” PHONE,

I HATE MY LIFE AND I WANNA TO DIE, I DON’T HAVE NO “I” PHONE.

I DON’T HAVE NO “I” PHONE ONE.

THERE IS MORE… THREE NUTS WERE HANGING IN A TREE. THEY WERE LITTLE AND GREEN.

They enjoyed spring so much. They hung in the tree so little but they could feel the sap coming up from the roots. The sap, the sun, and the rain.

Oh no, the storm came and many of the nuts that hung with them were so blown by the storm’s wind that they let go and said “WHAT’S THE USE, AND THEY FELL OF THE TREE.”

The deer and the squirrels ate the fallen nuts. The three nuts observed the fate of the other nuts and they said let’s promise each other, We will not fall off the this big tree until it is our time. The agreed.

The rain would get us wet. We were so cold, will we let go? No, let us hang on until we find the Master’s plan. On no, another terrible wind storm, lightning flashed all around. They recalled the promise that they could hang on a little longer.

They felt a change , the 3 little green nuts saw many of their kind fall off the tree. What’s going on? The one nut said to the other two nuts, look we have changed from green, now we are turning brown; I guess we are maturing, the Father has a plan for us.

The temperatures seem to be dropping. The three seeds feel something is changing inside of them. They have journeyed and weathered the droughts, the rains and the hot sun.

The one nut felt there is MORE! THE NUTS STARTED DREAMING.

THE ONE NUT ASKED THE OTHER TWO NUTS WHAT ARE YOU DREAMING ABOUT.

1 TREASURE CHEST.

He answered and said: WHEN I FALL TO THE GROUND I WANT TO GROW BIG AND WHEN THEY CUT ME DOWN

I WANT TO BE A TREASURE CHEST, THAT THE KING AND QUEEN WILL TRUST ME TO HOLD THEIR DIAMONDS, PEARLS

AND GOLD INTO… YES, I WANT TO BE A BEAUTIFUL TREASURE CHEST!

2. A SHIP.

The second tree dreamed and said: I THINK I WANT TO BE A SHIP, MAYBE A BOAT. Yes, that what I want to be, a boat that carries the king and queen out on the ocean blue. They will enjoy me carrying them around. Maybe they will

enjoy fishing from my bow.

3. I WANT TO BE FAMOUS, HIGH AND LIFTED UP SO THE WHOLE WORLD WILL KNOW ME.

The third nut said: NOT ME, I HAVE BEEN TANNING IN THIS TREE, I WANT TO BE LIFTED UP SO HIGH THAT THE WORLD WILL KNOW ME. Place me on a hill lifted before the whole world to see.

SOON BIG MUSCLE MEN CAME, THE SEEDS GREW AND WAS BLESSED BY GOD TO GROW. OUCH THAT HURTS. NO, THIS CAN’T BE. WOW, THAT HURTS. THUMP, ONE TREE FALLS TO THE GROUND. NO THIS ISN’T IN MY PLANS.

The seeds that fell to the ground was blessed by God with sun, rain and he grew and one day the lumber jacks returned and cut him down. Now this isn’t in my dreams. The first tree just lay in the mud, the tree cried, this is not my dream.

It came time to cut the second tree down, the tree lay in the mud. This is not what I wanted. This is terrible. I am so disappointed with life. I wish I had jumped out of the tree, this end was not my plan. I am a failure. I am a dumb little fishing boat. I AM A FAILURE,

NOW THE AXE CAME FORWARD AND CUT THE THIRD TREE DOWN. The PAIN OF THE AXE HEAD.

LAY IN THE MUD AND CRIED. 1. I WANTED TO BE A TREASURE CHEST AND I AM NOTHING. 2. I WANTED TO BE A BOAT, NOW LOOK, ALL THE DUMB STORMS, ALL THE DROUGHTS --- I AM JUST A BIG FAILURE. 3. THE LAST TREE WAS BEYOND DISAPPOINTED, EVERYTHING WAS FOR NOTHING… I AM A NOBODY.

ONE DAY A MAN CALLED A STUPID ECARPENTER CAME BY THE LUMBER SHOP AND PURCHASED THE WOOD AND THE TREE WAS 1 SO HAPPY, FINALLY MY DAY HAS ARRIVED. The old carpenter took the saw and hammer and made a manger. That’s it said the wood, I am a manger and cows slobber all over me, I HAVE FAILED.

2. Tree number two wanted to be a boat that the king and queen would enjoy their leisure time. NOW I AM A STINKING OLD FISHER BOAT. The nets, the hooks, uneducated fisher men use me. I HAVE FAILED !

3. THE THIRD TREE WAS SO DEPRESSED BY HIS DASHED DREAMS. HE WAS THE WORST FAILURE OF ALL. THE LUMBER JACKS LEFT HIM OLD RUGGED TIMBERS.

GOD HAS A PLAN, THE PLAN OF PATIENCE --- THEY THAT WAIT UPON THE LORD.

One day the old stupid manger with cow slobber heard a crowd of people in the barn, they came over and grabbed the manger and put fresh hay and swaddling cloth. What is all the commotion going on… soon a lady named Mary came over and laid a little boy in me. They said the baby was the KING OF KINGS. The seed that grew into a tree that felt like a FAILURE, now understood God’s plan…the old wood was a treasure chest. I AM NOT A FAILURE. I HOLD THE GREATEST GIFT, GOD GAVE HIS ONLY SON. I MAY LOOK LIKE A MANGER, BUT I AM A TREASURE CHEST.

REMEMBER THE SECOND NUT’S DREAM. I WANT TO BE A BOAT THAT THE KING AND QUEEN WILL RIDE IN ME? Well, what was he made into? A stinky fishing boat? I have failed. Wait awhile, have patience. What do you say boat? I was parked on the shore when a big crowd came by. A man asked to borrow me. The man was God’s only son. He sat in me and taught God’s words from me. Another night we were all out in the sea and a storm came up and we were doomed. Guess what? They woke that King that was son of God up and he calmed the storm. The next story you will not believe.

All the good o’ boys were riding in me and a storm came up, HE CAME WALKING ON THE WATER. Peter got out and walked with him. I may have seem like a failure but watching Jesus walk on the water fulfilled my wildest dream.

CONCLUSION: MY FRIEND YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. I HAVE HOPE. WHEN YOU COM TO THE END OF YOUR ROPE, TIE A KNOT AND HANG ON… We HAVE NOT SEE, THE BEST IS YET TO COME.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT2) For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

HOPE: WHEN HE PRAYED

Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Job 42:10 (MSG) After Job had interceded for his friends, GOD restored his fortune—and then doubled it!

WE HAVE AN ANCHOR… THE ANCHOR HOLDS..

Hebrews 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
