Psalm 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Proverbs 14:29 (NIV) A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

HOW SAD TO LIVE IN YOUR OWN WORLD OF MISUNDERSTANDING? God please stamp on our eye lids the word: ETERNITY? If we could seek what aligns with God’s word and what is important to God. Divine understanding is a gift from God given to man.

Job 32:7 (NIV) I thought, 'Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.' 8 But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.

*UNDERSTAND, UNDERSTANDING: KINDNESS, to have deep insight, to forgive, the ability to comprehend, sympathetically aware of other people’s feelings, tolerant, to have good judgment, appreciate, clear idea, firm mental grasp, harmony, agreement, to figure out, consider others’ feelings.

MANY HAVE KNOWLEDGE, FEW ATTAIN UNDERSTANDING. UNDERSTANDING IS A PROCESS NOT A DESTINATION IN A JOURNEY. You may think you are an expert but that does not mean you have understanding. To be understanding is much deeper than SURFACE-LEVEL. REAL UNDERSTANDING WILL ALWAYS BUILD GREATER COMPASSION.

Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

WHAT DO YOU WANT? IF YOU COULD HAVE ANYTHING IN THE WORLD WHAT WOULD YOU ASK? WOULD YOU ANSWER WITH THE REQUEST THAT WOULD PLEASE THE LORD?

1 Kings 3:5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? 10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. 15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

1 Corinthians 14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.

OFTEN WE FIND THE DEEPER THINGS OF GOD HIDDEN FROM THE PHYSICAL EYE OF MAN.OFTEN WE CAN ONLY SEE WHAT IS VISIBLE TO THE EYES… HOW MANY ARE SO SELF-FOCUSED THEY REFUSE TO SEE AND REFUSE TO UNDERSTAND…

John 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

5 After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the

towel wherewith he was girded. 6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

ONE OBSTACLE TO GAINING UNDERSTANDING IS NOT LISTENING… THE MORE YOU PRACTICE LISTENING SKILLS THE GREATER WILL GROW YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

Proverbs 19:20 (NIV) Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.

James 1:19 (NIV) My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

Proverbs 2:3(MSG) That's right—if you make Insight your priority, and won't take no for an answer, 4 Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt, 5 Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-GOD will be yours; you'll have come upon the Knowledge of God.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

WILL WE SEEK GOD FOR THE GIFT OF DIVINE UNDERSTANDING? What would happen if young people understood the elderly? If doctor/ healthy people understood the chronically or terminally ill? What if rich people understood poor people? What if the owner of the business understood their employees? What if church people understood their pastor? What if parents understood the load of their children? What if the spouse understood their spouse? What if family understood their in-laws? What if we tried to earnestly understand other people not like us?

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
