Psalm 77:10-14 (NKJV)
“I Will Remember”

You have heard me preach for over 15 years that the same God who healed the sick in the bible is still willing to do the same today. You’ve heard me tell you that God still provides for needs now as much as He did from the beginning of time. You know that I have repeatedly reminded you that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. This morning, I want to take you back to the time of KING DAVID, his appointed Levitical choir and the Chief Musician. The time of ASAPH, a Levite, (1 Chronicles 15:17), eminent as a musician and appointed by David to preside over the sacred choral services (16:5), around 1000 years before we are introduced to Jesus. And JEDUTHUN a Merarite, appointed to make melody with stringed instruments and brass horns (25:1). Asaph begins this portion of the Psalm with “This is my anguish.” It is a response to the six questions asked in verses 7-9. 1) “Will the Lord reject forever? 2) Will He never show his favor again? 3) Has His unfailing love vanished forever? 4) Has His promise failed for all time? 5) Has God forgotten to be merciful? 6) Has He in anger withheld his compassion?” As Asaph remembered those things, suddenly he thought… the answer to the doubt that is gathering in his mind is to remember the things the Lord has done! Are you wondering where God is in your time of financial need? Deuteronomy 8:18, But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant… Are you still waiting for your healing? Malachi 4:2, But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall… The key to victory in this world is to remember what God has done for you in the past … “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High. I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.” These words are given for your encouragement just like a testimony given by someone who has received an answer from God! Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 2:8, This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.” God’s word will be accomplished for those who believe what He has said and what He has done. According to what Asaph has written thus far, the key is remembering. He made a conscious decision to remember the mighty Hand of God.
His Wonders - The psalmist says, “Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.” I want to focus on remembering some old things. There are many good new things that we should be thankful for, but there are some old things that must be remembered! In Psalm 74: 2 Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. Asaph speaks of the days of old when God instituted the Passover and purchased the congregation of Israel from Egyptian bondage. The Apostle Peter taught us that a much greater purchase had been made. 1 Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world but was manifest in these last times for you. God delivered Moses and the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage with a sign of salvation above their doorpost from the blood of lambs. But Jesus, The Lamb of God made salvation eternal by His own blood on the cross that you and I might be freed from sins bondage. But I have come to share with you that even free folks have hard times and bad days. When life has set up walls around you where you can’t go right and you can’t go left say, “I Will Remember!” I remember Joshua was at Jericho and the walls of the city were shut up. And God said that you shall march around the city once for six days and on the seventh day march seven times and then blow your horns and shout with a great shout. And when they did it, the walls came tumbling down and they took the city for God! When you are doing the will of God, but other things just are not working out for you and you have run out of time say, “I Will Remember!” I remember when Israel was fighting the Amorites and even though they were winning the battle because as they fought God was hurling hailstones from heaven upon the enemy but the battle was long and the day almost over. And Joshua cried out “Sun stand thou still!” So God held the Sunshine over Gibeon for almost a full day. There was no day like it before or after! But Jesus teaches that if we would only believe we could say to the mountains in our lives, “be thou removed and cast into the sea!”
His Works - The psalmist says that not only should we remember His wonders we should also remember His Works, “I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.” In Psalm 44:1 it says We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old. And in Isaiah 46:9 God says Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. The church needs the power of God today as in days of old! As believers in Christ Jesus, we need the old fashion power of the Holy Spirit to fill us, and to empower us to live the Christian life, and to be faithful witnesses! Programs, and plans.......seminars, and conferences cannot take the place of the power of God! When parenting has swallowed you up and marriage has drained you and career has left you empty and ministry has made you weary and friends have let you down and family have disappointed you, we must say, “I Will Remember!” I will remember His saving grace and I will tell others what he has done! Revelations 12:10 says when that old serpent, the Devil, Satan himself, the deceiver and accuser of the brethren did his best to discourage the believer, “we overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of our testimony!”
His Ways - The psalmist says, “Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God?” When doubt and depression and despair try to get in the way, we must say, “I Will Remember!” I will remember what you did for me on Calvary’s Cross, how you died for me and set me free. When I get to the sanctuary, I will lift my hands and ask, “Who is so great a God as our God?” King David said, (86:8) "There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God" Let us join with the psalmist and say, (34:1) “I will bless the Lord at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
