( I have palm leaves for each person. Palm leaves represent PRAISE. I have horse reins I will use.)
THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN WIN… KING JEHOSHAPHAT KNEW THE ENEMY WAS MUCH STRONGER THAN HE WAS…
THE ONLY CHANCE WE HAVE IS TO PRAISE GOD FROM OUR HEART. PUT THE PRAISERS IN FRONT TO SING AND WORSHIP GOD. VICTORY COMES WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE LEARN THE BEAUTY OF PRAISE.
2 Chronicles 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against
I WANT NO ROCKS CRYING OUT PRAISE FOR ME.
*RAIN: water falling in drops from the clouds.
*REINS: to hold back, to control more, HORSE.
*REIGN: what a king or queen does, a period of time when a sovereign holds office, the power to rule.
WE IN THIS AREA HAVE MANY AMISH PEOPLE. We see in front of many businesses a HITCHING POST. A HITCHING POST IS WHERE YOU TETHER OR TIE THE REIGNS. TO KEEP IT FROM WANDERING AWAY. The hitching posts prevents the animal from straying away. A hitching post was like parking to us today. A person would pull up their wagon or their horse to a fence, a tree, a post and tether the animal to keep the animal from wandering away.
AT 30 YEARS OF AGE PRIEST AND MINISTERS WERE SET APART FOR THE OFFICE WORK TO WHICH THEY WERE ASSIGNED… PRIEST STARTS FORMAL ENTRY INTO PRIESTHOOD… AT 30 YEAS OF AGE.
Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,
JESUS OFFICIALLY ENTERS HIS WORK BY ATTENDING A WEDDING…
John 2:5 MARY: His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
FOR 3 YEARS JESUS MINISTERS HEALING, DELIVERANCE, FORGIVENESS, and SALAVTION TO THE PEOPLE… JESUS TRIES TO PREPARE THE DISCIPLES FOR THE DAYS AHEAD.
Mark 9:30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it. 31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. 32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
THE SEVENTH ENTRY INTO JERUSALEM IS CALLED THE TRIUMPHAL ENTRY.
On the eastern side of the temple there is a little GARDEN called GETHSEMANE. Walk up the hill and you will ascend what we call the MOUNT OF OLIVES. The MT of OLIVES is just outside the city limits of Jerusalem. A PERSON HAS A BEAUTIFUL VIEW FROM THE MOUNT OF OLIVES. You can look into the 15 acres inside the temple. From MT OLIVE
YOU CAN SEE THE EASTERN GATE OF THE TEMPLE and part of the south side of the temple.
Walk up Mt Olive and there is a little village just up the hill side outside the city limits of Jerusalem. The village is called BETHPHAHAGE.
THE DONKEY SAYS: I AM TETHERED AND MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS. CAN YOU HEAR THE PRAISE? THE PRAISE IS FOR THE SON OF GOD! LISTEN TO ME: YOU ARE GOING TO FIND A DONKEY AND ITS COLT TETHERED TO A HITCHING POST, UNTIE THEM ---TELL WHOEVER ASK: THE MASTER NEEDS THEM. THIS 7TH JOURNEY IS ALL ABOUT PRAISE.
Matthew 21:1 (MSG) When they neared Jerusalem, having arrived at Bethphage on Mount Olives, Jesus sent two disciples 2 with these instructions: "Go over to the village across from you. You'll find a donkey tethered there, her colt with her. Untie her and bring them to me. 3 If anyone asks what you're doing, say, 'The Master needs them!' He will send them with you." 4 This is the full story of what was sketched earlier by the prophet:
5 Tell Zion's daughter, "Look, your king's on his way, poised and ready, mounted On a donkey, on a colt, foal
of a pack animal." 6 The disciples went and did exactly what Jesus told them to do. 7 They led the donkey and colt out, laid some of their clothes on them, and Jesus mounted.
OFTEN TIMES WE SEE THE PHYSICAL BUT THERE IS A SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE: THE STAGE IS BEING SET THE PLAN OF GOD WILL BE COMING INTO VIEW.
Matthew 21:4 This took place to fulfill the prophecy that said, 5 “Tell the people of Israel, ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.’” the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
THE RELIGIOUS AUTHORITIES DEMAND JESUS TO ORDER THE PRAISE TO STOP NOW!
Luke 19:38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. 41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
THERE WAS AN OLD PREACHER NAMED ELI… THAT COMPROMISED TRUTH AND THE LIGHT OF GOD WAS BURNING SO DIM… ELI’S SON’S WERE PLAYING WITH SIN AND CHEATING ON THE OFFERINGS AND IMMORAL BEHAVIOR WITH WOMEN BEHIND THE CHURCH… HOPHNI and PHINEHAS…
1 Samuel 3:3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE SHOUTING AND DEPENDING ON THE LORD DOES NOT MEAN THE LORD IS WITH YOU.
1 Samuel 4:2 And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men. 3 And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies. 4 So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.
WE HAVE THE ARK OF THE COVENANT --- WE CAN SHOUT! SO WHAT?
5 And when the ark of the covenant of the LORD came into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again. 6 And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp. 7 And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.
30,000 MEN DIE IN ONE DAY, THEY THOUGHT BECAUSE THEY HAD THE ARK OF THE COVENANT WITH THEM THAT GOD WAS WITH THEM. NOT! NOT SO!
1 Samuel 4:10 And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.
THE ARK OF THE COVENANT FELL INTO THE PHILISTINES CONTROL AND THEY PLACED THE ARK IN THE TEMPLE OF DAGON… MANY OF THE PAGANS DIED.
1 Samuel 6:1 And the ark of the LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
DAVID AND ISRAEL WAS SO HAPPY TO HAVE THE ARK OF THE COVENANT HOME. THEY TOOK SIX STEPS=== PRAISE, SIX STEPS PRAISE.SIX STEPS AND PRAISE. FINALLY DAVID BRINGS THE ARK OF THE COVENANT HOME. DAVID DANCES IN PRAISE BEFORE THE LORD. DAVID COULD NOT CONTAIN THE PRAISE. THERE WAS A GREAT CELEBRATION OF PRAISE BEFORE THE LORD.
2 Samuel 6:13 And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
DAVID DOES NOT CARE WHAT ANYONE THOUGHT HE WAS DANCING AND PRAISING GOD….
2 Samuel 6:14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
THOSE THAT DO NOT KNOW THE VALUE OF PRAISE MOCK AND DESPISE PRAISE.
I was not dancing and praising God for a show for you to see. I was praising God.
2 Samuel 6: 16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
2 Samuel6:21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD. 22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
DAVID VOWED TO PRAISE THE LORD 7 TIMES A DAY… 3 TIMES A DAY HE WOULD PRAY.
Psalm 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Psalm 109:4 For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.
CONCLUSION: PSALMS 146 TO 150 IS A COLLECTION OF DAVID’S THOUGHTS ABOUT PRAISE. David teaches people must praise God everywhere and in every situation they find themselves. David calls all people that has breath to praise God all the time. David wraps up the bottom line of eternal values, the conclusion is clear: PRAISE GOD! The breath you are breathing is a gift from God. God desires us to PRAISE HIM!
