Hosea 13:1-4
Intro.
Hosea preached among the Northern Tribe of Israel.
Here he is warning them of the consequences of
worshipping idols.
And in verse 4 he makes an interesting statement,
that was something they should have already known.
It should have been known from the 10
Commandments.

The first and second of the 10 Commandments
While we do not have many idols like they did in the
Old Testament, idols of statues or animals. We still
have idol worship today.
Possessions (cars, boats, etc.
People (Celebrities, Sports figures, and, even
Political leaders)
Remember to keep things in perspective - Worship God, Love people, Use things
I. No other God. Vs. 4a
A. There is no other God except the Creator.
B. There are not many gods
C. God who is Almighty
D. God who is All knowing
E. God who is All present
F. God who answers prayer.
Jer. 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not
Is. 59:1 ¶ Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
1. Angels do not and cannot answer prayer.
2. Idols do not hear
3. Lucky stars cannot help you.
“I thank my lucky stars”
4. Luck cannot help you wither.
1Sam. 2:2 There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
II. No other Savior. Vs. 4b
1John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
A. Our only hope is in the Savior that the Father sent
to redeem us.
B. While the sacrifices of the Old Testament would
point us to Jesus, they, in themselves, could not
save anyone.
Heb. 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
C. It would take the blood of Jesus, God’s only son, to
redeem us.
D. Only Jesus
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
III. No other salvation
A. Our only salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ.
Rom. 5:1 ¶ Therefore being justified by faith, we
have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ:
1. Fully relying on him
2. Only him.
a) Not baptism
b) Not church membership
c) Not family heritage.
1) “My grandma went to church”
2) God has no grandchildren
B Not through works.
Eph. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph. 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
C. Not through the law…keeping the 10 commandments.
Rom. 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom. 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.
Gal. 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
1.The law would teach us about sin.
2. The Law would lead us to Jesus
D. Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Conclusion
There is only one God
There is only one Savior
There is only one way to be saved.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom. 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
