IN A LITTLE WHILE: ONLY BELIEVE

BIRDS… I love nature. I love to watch and listen to nature. Some of my favorite animals are BIRDS. I love to feed, watch and listen to birds. I came out of prayer time at church. I might have been a little heavy with all the prayer needs. There was a group of birds sitting on the power line running over the parking lot. They were singing a beautiful song. I said: WHY ARE YOU SINGING SO BEAUTIFUL? One bird talked to me and asked me if I had been listening to the news again? I said: Haven’t you heard about Ukraine and all the money they are demanding? Haven’t you heard about the education crisis and the angry students taking guns and killing people? Haven’t you heard about the political chaos... the border crisis of 1,000s a day crossing? Have you heard about cancer, covid and aids? I told the birds about dysfunctional families and divorce. The bird said: SHUT UP! WE DON’T WORRY: WE JUST TRUST GOD’S PLAN. WE DON’T EVER WATCH OR LISTEN TO THE NEWS… WE ONLY BELIEVE --- GOD LOVES US AND GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF US. DON’T YOU BELIEVE THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL AND GOD HAS ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF YOU? WE HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. GOD JUST CALLED US TO SING, PRAISE AND WORSHIP. Fear, worry and anxiety can hinder or stop God’s plan.
THERE IS BAD NEWS THAT CAN KILL OUR MIRACLES… WE TEND TO LISTEN TO THE BAD NEWS AS FACTS… WHY BOTHER THE MASTER? DON’T TROUBLE GOD?
Jairus finally finds Jesus and pleads his case, his only child is so sick she is dying. Jairus begs Jesus come and heal her. Then Jesus is delayed by this old woman that has been sick 12 years. THIS DELAY IS A BELIEF KILLER… COUPLED WITH BAD NEWS. WHY DO WE SOW SEEDS OF DOUBT AND FEAR? THE HARVEST WILL BE DEADLY.
Mark 5:35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
WHAT HAVE YOU OVERHEARD? JESUS WARNS JAIRUS: DON’T LISTEN TO THEM. DON’T ALLOW FEAR TO BE RELEASED WITH THE BAD NEWS YOU JUST HEARD.
Will this news birth sadness? Understand IMPERATIVE COMMANDS? DON’T LISTEN TO THEM! DON’T ALLOW THE NEWS TO ESTABLISH A ROOT SYSTEM OF DOUBT AND FEAR. Jesus only ask one thing: ONLY BELIEVE.
Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Mark 5:36 (MSG) Jesus overheard what they were talking about and said to the leader, "Don't listen to them; just trust me."
Mark 5:36 (NLT2) But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.”
*ONLY: just one option, limited, no one or nothing more, solely, exclusive, solitary, alone.
*BELIEVE: to permit, give permission, to trust, accept, truth, for sure, genuine, real, wholehearted, faith, confidence, to be convinced.
Psalm 68:1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
NOW FAITH: NOT YESTERDAY OR TOMORROW… FAITH IS THE KEY… FAITH IS THE KEY THAT OPENS MIRACLES… KNOCK, KNOCK… COME ON IN… Miracles are measured by faith. By believing in Jesus we accept there is POWER IN HIS NAME.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 (NLT2) Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
THE TEST: OUR ENEMY FIRST APPEARS IN GENESIS 3. SATAN HAS GOALS TO STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY… FAITH.
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Our adversary, serpent, tempter is against God. Our enemy has LIMITATIONS. GOD HAS HEDGES BUILT AROUND BELIEVERS… THE HEDGES LIMIT THE ENEMY’S POWERS. Will we trust and believe GOD HAS THE ABILITY TO DO WHAT HE HAS PROMISED TO DO? The enemy does his best work in fear, worry and doubt.
HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED AT THE PRICE TAG? DO WE EVER CONSIDER THE COST OF OUR CURRENT AND FUTURE ACTIONS, REACTIONS, CHOICES AND DECISIONS…???
The father brings his son to the feet of Jesus. His son had very serious health issues. There was no hope from the medical field. This chronic problem had persisted many years. Do we just accept this as the norm?
Mark 9:22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us. 23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. 24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
IN A LITTLE WHILE: GOD TURNS THINGS AROUND… SUFFERING CANNOT LAST FOREVER…
1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
1 Peter 5:10 (MSG) The suffering won't last forever. It won't be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good.
1 Peter 5:10 (NLT2) In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
CONCLUSION: There was an old frog that gathered the little tadpoles around him to teach them a lesson about endurance and persistence. He told of the farmer and his wife that had milked all the cows and set the milk cans out by the road. He told how the frogs loved to jump up and sit on top of the cans and watch the cars go by. That day the farmer’s wife had forgot to put the top on one of the milk cans. So when the two frogs jumped up there, they both fell deep into the milk. They tried but could not get out. They kicked and kicked for hours. Their muscles were cramping. The one frog said: THIS IS USELESS, WHY FIGHT IT? The other frog said: WE CAN’T QUIT, WE WILL DIE. They kicked a little longer and the tired frog sank to the bottom of the milk can. Later a few bubbles and the frog just quit and died. The old frog had the tadpoles attention. THEY DEMANDED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OTHER FROG. The old frog put back his shoulders and said: I WAS THE OTHER FROG. See, you tadpoles would not be here today if I had given up. He said, I learned to quit jumping to the wrong milk can. I learned you must kick and kick and kick. Soon the milk thickened and turned to butter. I jumped out of the can and here I am today. The old frog said: THERE WILL BE MANY OBSTACLES IN YOUR DAILY LIFE. DON’T LISTEN TO THOSE THAT SAY QUIT… WHAT’S THE USE… JUST KEEP KICKING. You can do it if you want to… JUST KEEP KICKING. QUIT COMPLAINING AND KICK!
Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
Philippians 2:14 (MSG) Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed!
Philippians 2:14 (NLT2) Do everything without complaining and arguing,
Quit asking God to change the whole world. When things continually go wrong we must quit looking outwardly… Come to the truth that I may have the wrong attitude and thinking pattern. Look inward… forward.
Test your faith: ONLY BELIEVE. We come to cross roads. We will decide to ONLY BELIEVE --- ENTER THROUGH THE NARROW GATE. The broad road leads to destruction.
2 Corinthians 13:5 (MSG) Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.
2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT2) Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.
