Summary: Here is a simple message for those who are graduating from college or high school. It is also a message for everyone who wants to seek God's will for their future.

Seeking God’s Will

Graduation

John 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

Intro.

This is the first miracle recorded that Jesus ever performed

It was at a wedding about 10 miles south of Nazareth at Cana.

They had run out of wine

Jesus had them fill 6 water pots full of water

He turned the water into wine. It was the best

Two results

- Jesus manifested his glory

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among

us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only

begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

- The disciples believed on him.

— Notice that there is no mention of anyone else believing

in Him at this time.

I would like to consider verse 5.

We can think of this as a Mother’s day message

- Jesus obeyed and honored his mother.

- Her command was given to the servants attending the

wedding.

We can also see it as a graduation message.

As a young person graduates from either high school or college

they need to start thinking about their career.

- The best thing and the best advice for them is to seek the

Lord and His will.

- He will reveal it to you…a little at a time.

I. To find God will we must be fully committed - Whatsoever

A. We must be willing to do whatever God leads us to do.

B. His will is not a option to just consider.

C. You must be committed to WHATSOEVER.

1. God may or may not call you to preach

2. God needs servants everywhere and in every occupation.

3. You must be fully committed to going where ever He sends

you and gives you to do.

a. God may send you around the world or possibly across

the street.

b. People serve in hard places and are so happy because

they know it’s God’s will for them to be there.

2) Marjorie Browning in Mexico

D. Surrender to serving the Lord wherever he may send you and doing what ever He has for you to do.

II. To find God’s will we must be Faithfully listening - “he saith to you”.

A. Listen for the voice of Jesus.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they

follow me:

1. He may speak through someone in your life.

2. He may speak to you through His word

3. He may speak to you by the small still voice of the Holy Spirit.

B. There is no need to listen to any other voice, but his.

1. Be careful of worldly counsel.

Psa. 1:1 ¶ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way

of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Psa. 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in

his law doth he meditate day and night.

After taking a test, a school counselor told me I should sell

machine parts.

2. Whatever you do, DON’T FOLLOW YOUR HEART.

Prov. 28:26 ¶ He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool:

but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Jer. 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and

desperately wicked: who can know it?

C. Seek the Lord and his voice.

Psa. 105:4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face

evermore.

1. You can trust him Prov. 3:5-6

2. He will “direct you paths)

III. Knowing God’s will we must be Fearlessly obedient - do it!

A. Following God’s will may not be easy, but do it!

B. Following God’s will might be scary, but do it!

C. Following God will might take you far away, but do it!

D. Following God’s might seem impossible, but do it!

Deut. 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and

fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice,

and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.

1. God will enable you to do anything He has called you to do.

2. God will equip you to do anything He has called you to do.

3. God will strengthen you to do anything He has called you to

do.

Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which

strengtheneth me.

I. Commit to “whatsoever” - anywhere, anything,

II. Listen to His voice - only His voice

III. Just do it! - Obey Him
