A PRAYING MOMMA: CIRCUMSTANCES VS ATTITUDES

HEAR YE, HEAR YE… THE BARREN, LIFELESS, NO PRODUCTION… THE NEGTIVE BARREN CIRCUMSTANCES OF A WOMAN CAN CHANGE INTO THE MOTHER OF ONE OF THE GREATEST PREACHERS OF ALL TIME. THIS HAPPENED ALL HAPPENED BECAUSE SHE KNEW HOW TO PRAY! THERE IS A TERRIBLE DYSFUNCTIONAL HOME THAT HAS LITTLE TO NO HOPE.
THERE IS BITTERNESS AND HATRED CRUSHING THIS LITTLE FAMILY… HEAR YE, HEAR YE… THIS PRAYING MOMMA GOES TO CHURCH AND SEEKS A MIRACLE BEYOND HER REACH. FAITH AND PRAYER WORKS.
1 Samuel 1:9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
There is a misunderstanding that tries to crush this momma’s spirit… she is praying her heart out and the Preacher Eli accuses her as being DRUNK. Many would have been offended and never returned to church. Hannah refused to be offended.
She pressed on until God heard her prayer.
A MOMMA PRAYS A PRAYER OF FAITH. HANNAH LEAVES CHURCH WITH OUT SEEING OR FEELING HER MIRACLE. HANNAH WALKS HOME BY FAITH. THIS MOMMA’S PRAYERS WILL TOUCH HEAVEN AND CHANGE HER DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY FROM BARREN TO FRUITFUL.
1 Samuel 1:17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
1 Samuel 1:20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

Hannah’s circumstances do not change immediately but her FAITH RELEASES THE ATTITUDE OF PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING. GOD HEARS A MOMMA’S PRAYER. HANNAH’S CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE WITH PRAYER… SHE HAD 3 MORE SONS AND 2 DAUGHTERS. PRAYER CHANGES THE BARREN WOMAN INTO A MOTHER OF 6.
DO OUR CIRCUMSTANCES DEFINE WHO WE REALLY ARE? WHERE DOES ATTITUDE COME INTO PLAY?
While story telling let me tell you another lesson. A very rich man wanted to teach his son about the rest of the world. So the rich man made arrangements with a poor farmer to allow his son to stay 3 days and nights on the poor farm. One day chauffeur drove the boy and unloaded his stuff. The boy was welcomed into the little farm house. The boy had to get up very early each morning and join the farmer’s sons in the chores. He had to eat what was set on the table. He had to go to bed when he was told.
Three days later the rich man’s limousine pulled in front of the shabby farm house. The lad was so excited and he jumped in the back seat with his dad. The dad said: WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED THE LAST 3 DAYS? The boy said: Dad I did not know how poor we are. This precious family is so wonderful. The dad said WHAT DO MEAN? The boy replied: Dad, we have one dog. They have four. We buy our eggs, they go out each morning and gather fresh eggs. He said, We have a swimming pool they have a big river flowing through the farm. We went fishing and swimming in the river. In great excited he continued we have street/ security lights all around. They have a million stars that twinkle each night. We have city water, they go to the well and draw fresh water when they need it. Dad, we have to eat pizza and canned food. They raise fresh food and harvest it out of the garden. We have walls around the property that traps us. They have vast fields opened all around the farm. We have computers, Wi-Fi and colored TV’s. They sit out on the porch and sing and laugh together until bed time. We have trouble going to sleep. When the farmer’s family goes to bed they say: I LOVE YOU, THEN THEY FALL ASLEEP SOUNDLY ALL NIGHT. Dad I did not know HOW POOR WE ARE! THANK YOU DAD, THAT WAS THE BEST GIFT I EVER HAD.
REAL THANKS COMES FROM THE VALUE SYSTEM OF WHAT WE DEEM IS IMPORTANT. Joy is more than material things and fancy gadgets. JOY, LOVE AND PEACE ARE VALUES CAN NEVER BE BOUGHT WITH MONEY… MONEY MAY BUY THINGS, BUT JOY, LOVE AND PEACE COME FROM WITHIN… THE PROBLEM OF THE HEART IS THE HEART OF THE PROBLEM. CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD NEVER DEFINE OUR ATTITUDES --- OUR ATTITUDES COME FROM OUR GRATITUDE AND THANKFULNESS.
A COMPASSIONATE WOMAN THAT WAS BARREN LOVED AND RESPECTED THE PREACHER. SHE FEED THE PREACHER OFTEN… THE PREACHER AND HIS SERVANT HAVE TO SLEEP ON THE GROUND OUT IN THE OPEN.WE DON’T EVEN KNOW THIS WOMAN’S NAME…
MAKES A SUGGESTION TO HER HUSBAND… LET’S REMODEL AND ENLARGE OUR HOUSE… LET US DO MORE THAN ALLOW HIS TO EAT WITH US… LET US MAKE ROOM FOR THE MAN OF GOD IN OUR HOUSE…
2 Kings 4:9 And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually. 10 Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
YEARS LATER ELISHA DESIRES TO REPAY THIS WOMAN’S KINDNESS. NO ACT OF KINDNESS NO MATTER HOW SMALL IS EVER FORGOTTEN. ELISHA TELLS GEHAZI: FIND OUT WHAT THIS COUPLE NEEDS AND WE WILL HELP THEM.
The preacher and the servant ask the Shunammite woman what do you need. She answers: We are blessed we need nothing.
GEHAZI MAKES AN OBSERVATION TO ELISHA… THIS COUPLE HAS BEEN BARREN, THEY HAS NO CHILDREN…
2 Kings 4:14 And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
STUDY A MOTHER’S WORSE NIGHTMARE… ELISHA FELT AT HOME IN THE SHUNAMMIMITE WOMAN’S HOME. THE ARISES A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM… AT A CRITICAL TIME… AT HARVEST TIME. YOU NEED ALL THE HELP YOU CAN GET… THE SON IS WORKING AND HELPING HIS DAD… THE SON HAS A SERVE HEADACHE… THEY SENDT THE SON HOME AND HE DIES IN HIS MOMMA’S ARMS…
2 Kings 4:19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.
AT TIMES LIKE THESE WE NEED TO KNOW THE MAN OF GOD AND GOD IN A PERSONAL WAY.
2 Kings 4:21 And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.
THE FAITH OF A MOTHER PAYS DIVIDENDS IN SEASONS OF CRISIS.… HOW CAN YOU DECLARE FAITH IN A HARD TIME? THE BOY IS BLESSED WITH A GODLY MOM THAT DECLARES… IT IS WELL TWO TIMES… WHILE STEAL IN A CRITICAL TIME.
2 Kings 4:23 And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.
I want the fastest horse and buggy out of our stable… MOMMA KNEW THE ROAD TO ELISHA’S HOUSE… Elisha and Gehazi are sitting on the porch and see the Shunammite mother coming over the hill.
2 Kings 4:26 Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well.
THE WOMAN SAYS: PREACHER, I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU UNTIL I RECEIVE MY MIRACLE…!
2 Kings 4:30 And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her.
THE MOMMA’S FAITH LAUNCHES A MIRACLE… IT SHALL BE WELL… IT IS WELL!
2 Kings 4:36 And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son.
CONCLUSION: DO WE HAVE PRAYING, GIVING AND COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE THAT CAN CHANGE THE HISTORY OF THE FAMILY AND A NATION? DO WE ALLOW CIRCUMSTANCES AND SITUATIONS TO DEFINE OUR WORDS AND ACTIONS? The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. We need people that HAVE A HEART and KNOW HOW TO PRAY to change OUR FAMILIES, OUR CHURCHES, OUR NATION and the WORLD. The golden rule can change our attitudes. BE A CHEERFUL GIVER. We must return to THE FEAR OOF GOD AND FAITHFULNESS TO THE FAMILY AND THE CHURCH. WE MUST DO MORE THAN CHANGE THE CIRCUMSTANCES, WE MUST CHANGE OUTR THINKING PATTERNS AND OUR MINDSETS TO GODLY ATTITUDES.
40 YEARS AGO I HAD A VIVID DREAM THAT SUSTAINED ME THROUGH SOME DARK SEASONS OF BETRAYAL.
( I explain I use no live props in my illustrations and there is nothing to fear. I have 6 rubber fishing earth worms in my illustration to attach to my right hand. I move them to my left hand. I have hidden under my vest a large rubber snake attached to my chest.)
Sometimes I eat pizza before I go to bed? In this dream I have 6 little baby snakes latched on to my right hand. I grab the baby snakes in my left hand and calmly ran into the INFIRMARY where a nurse practitioner was on duty. I was trying to stay calm. I approached her and I ask her would these 6 baby snakes fangs would be FATAL (DEADLY) to me? She said one baby snake bite would not normally be fatal, BUT SHE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE SUM TOTAL OF THE SIX SNAKES COULD BE.
I STARTED GETTING REAL DIZZY AND FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT. I FELT SOMETHING UNDER MY SHIRT. THE WAS A HUGE 6 FEET LONG SNAKE WRAPPED AROUND ME AND THE HUGE SNAKE’S FANGS WERE BURIED INTO MY CHEST. I HEARD THE NURSE PRACTITIONER WHISPER: UH-OH, YOU ARE DEAD MEAT. THERE IS A ZERO PER PERCENTAGE OF SURVIVAL.
I woke up and the dream was so troubling. I went into our front room and prayed. My Bible fell open to the book of JOB, chapter 5. There was only one verse I could read by the light of the fire place. It was verse five in the Parallel Bible.
Job 5:19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
Job 5:19 (MSG) From one disaster after another he delivers you; no matter what the calamity, the evil can't touch you—
Job 5:19 (NIV) From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will befall you.
Job 5:19 (NLT2) From six disasters he will rescue you; even in the seventh, he will keep you from evil.
The very next day I receive a crushing blow from circumstance out of my control. I was crushed and I did not think I could spiritual survive this situation. I fell on the altar at church and wept until I had every thread on a bath towel wet. A STILL SMALL VOICE SPOKE DIRECTLY TO MY HEART… THE HOLY SPIRIT WARNED YOU LAST NIGHT ABOUT 6 TROUBLES, 6 DISASTERS, 6 CALAMITIES --- THAT EVEN IN 7 TERRIBLE CIRCUMSTANCE GOD WAS THERE TO DELIVER HIS PEOPLE. I got up from the altar folded up the towel and said: MY GOD I TRUST YOU… GOD YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM LAST NIGHT AND YOU WARNED ME. This is not a STUMBLING BLOCK this situation is a STEPPING STONE TO COMPLETE DELIVERANCE. 35 YEARS LATER I SEE THIS 6 SNAKES, NO 7 AS A SEASON OF TESTING AND DELIVERANCE. GOD’S WORD SUSTAINED ME DURING A DEADLY ATTACK. I HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR.
I GIVE EACH PERSON A SMALL RUBBER FISHING WORM TO REMIND THEM GOD HAS PLAN AND HE WILL DELIVER US… JUST HANG IN THERE. GOD CAN HANDLE THESE DISASTERS AND TROUBLES. WAIT ON THE LORD.
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
2 Peter 2:9 (NLT2) So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
I CALL EACH MOTHER TO THE ALTAR AND SUPPLY THEM WITH A PROMISE… A LITTLE RUBBER WORM… THROUGH 6 NO 7 CALAMITIES GOD WILL DELIVER US. THIS OBSTACLE IS AN OPPORTUNITY.
