Summary: This is the introduction to a series on the historical foundations of the first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis. These chapters present authentic events and real people. Without them, nothing else makes sense.

To try and comprehend the majesty and power of the Sovereign LORD God Almighty is like trying to place the entirety of the oceans inside a thimble. To hear skeptics and infidels crow that God does not exist or does not care for what is happening in this world is to hear the finite, limited, and petty excuses for avoiding the obvious and an attempt to drown out the nagging thought that He just might exist and demand an accounting for their unbelief and foolishness they sewed while on the earth (Psalm 14:1, 51:1; Luke 12;13-21; Hebrews 9:27). Part of this foolishness has been in the form of denying or ridiculing the account of creation as written in the book of Genesis. Arrogant, prideful, and rebellious humanity prefer randomness and happenstance theories and worship at the altar of personal preferences over Divine Providence. The remnant church, defined as those of us who hold on the belief that God is our Creator, Provider, Savior, and Sustainer have been continually subjected to ridicule, shame, and condescension for daring to believe and proclaim that this world and the entirety of the universe are products of precision, logic, rationality, and sequential order from a Being who exists outside the confines of time, space, and matter and has a vested, personal, and intimate interest in the affairs of His creation. This evidence for order and design is one of the ways He shows Himself to us (Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:18-20). The description of how everything came into existence is presented in the first book of the Bible, known as Genesis, specifically the first eleven chapters. Here we find the origins of the universe, the design and mission of humanity, the seeds of rebellion against God, and the promise of a coming Redeemer.

On the contrary, Darwinian evolution provides nothing except a bleak, purposeless, and futile explanation of how we came to be through some unspecified process of indifferent randomness plus the barbaric idea of "survival of the fittest". One of the most troublesome parts of Darwin's "Origin of Species" is in the title itself that has been taken out of modern versions. Part of the title included a reference to what he called the "favored races", a term which has been the foundation for cruelty, racism, prejudice, abortion, the devaluation of human life altogether, and the sickening belief that some people are no better than "human weeds" and "useless eaters". This was the viewpoint of evolutionists such as Margaret Sanger, the racist founder of Planned Parenthood, who made it her priority to eliminate anyone she perceived as "inferior" through abortion, forced sterilization, and the "science" of eugenics. Adolf Hitler adapted this mindset as well, and as a result, six to eleven million people lie in graves today because of his idea of a "master race". Marxism and evolution developed around the same time (1840's-1850's), and it is interesting to note that their shared disdain for the value of life over the past century and a half have led to over 100,000,000 deaths through war, starvation, economic failure, imprisonment, and other cruelties, and still holds sway in countries such as China, North Korea, and Venezuela. All of this is in direct opposition to what the Sovereign LORD has planned for His creation. The world, on the other hand, sees Him and the redemption He has provided through the Lord Jesus Christ as enemies whom they believe need to be eradicated from the mind of humanity. This futile mission is truly the ultimate case of wishful thinking (Psalm 14:1, 53:1).

The devil and his cohorts who occupy places of authority are pushing the evolutionary narrative even more in these last days, trying to rid humanity of the idea that we are the special creation of a loving God who does not desire that anyone be lost, but freely come to Him for mercy, grace, and salvation (Ezekiel 18:23, 32; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:6-11, 6:23,10:9-10; 2 Corinthians 6:2; 2 Peter 3:9). This is why I felt it necessary to begin this series of messages on the importance and relevance of Genesis 1-11. What we have in these opening chapters are the truth of how we came to be and the fact that we are not the product of indifference, but of the mind of God. This is the message we need to get out to desperate multitudes who see no value or purpose to their lives. Genesis shows that we are valuable in the sight of God, we have a purpose for our lives, and that no one needs to be held captive to the impersonal idea of chance and random happenstance. It all starts with the words, "In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1). From here, we will see that it is God who is the Author of not just authentic science, but authentic salvation He freely gives to anyone who calls on His name (Matthew 11:28-30).
