SEARCHING… LOOKING OUT MY WINDOW FOR THE END OF THE RAINBOW?

WINGS SPEAK OF SEARCHING FOR BETTER. SEARCHING BY PRAYER. WINGS SPEAK OF LIFE’S JOURNEY TO FOCUS ON PRIORITIES. IF ONLY I HAD WINGS I WOULD FLY AWAY… WINGS TEACH US OF GROWTH AND FREEDOM.
To fly away in the Bible speaks of HOPE, PEACE AND CHANGE. We are daily in spiritual storms and struggles. God did not design his people to live in stress and carry heavy loads. We must trust God’s plan and purpose no matter what happens. WINGS SPEAK OF FINDING IMPROVEMENT FOR A BETTER WAY OF LIFE.
Psalm 55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
We must exercise and strengthen our wings. It is your spiritual duty to keep your wings under the anointing of the Holy Spirit and to keep your wings clean and ready.
SEARCHING… COMES IN 3 LEVELS… 1. ASK (request, say, inquire), 2. SEEK (attempt to find, achieve.), 3. KNOCK, to wait at the door, get attention.)
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
STAYING WITH THE THEME OF GROWTH. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE IS SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING…
1939 was a pivotal year. The famous movie was recorded, THE WIZARD OF OZ. Everyone was searching for something. There was a journey to make, but the whole journey was about SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING. Not everyone is searching for the same thing.
*THE SCARECROW wanted a brain. (Many people live their whole life without using their brain.)
*THE LION wanted courage.
*THE TIN MAN wanted a heart. (ALL OF THESE REQUEST ARE GOOD AND NORMAL.)
*DOROTHY wanted to GO HOME…
After the long, hard journey facing many perils and hardships --- THE ANSWER WAS EACH PERSON HAD THEIR SOLUTION WITHIN THEIR PROBLEM.
ARE WE GROWING BY SEARCHING FOR MORE? THERE IS A RAINBOW. YOU WILL NEVER SEE THE RAINBOW LOOKING DOWN. IF WE SEARCH THERE IS A TOKEN… A VISIBLE, TANGIBLE SIGN.
Genesis 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. 12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
FOOLISH SEARCHING… CAN WE GROW BY CHASING RAINBOWS? HOW MANY ARE CHASING A POT OF GOLD?
For several hundred years we have an expression that there is a POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW.
We tend to day dream of fulfillment, success, joy, happiness, wealth, health, popularity and fame. THE HOPE OF THE AGES is more than a pot of gold at the rainbow’s end.
Let us be completely honest there IS A GREAT APPEAL OF SOMETHING THAT HAS GREAT PROMISE. The pot of gold is very attractive and greatly to be desired but YOU CAN NEVER ATTAIN OR ACHIEVE THAT. SEEMS MANY ARE SEARCHING FOR THE ELUSIVE END OF THE RAINBOW TO RECEIVE THEIR POT OF GOLD?
SEARCHING FOR ALL THE RIGHT THINGS IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES?
VANITY? VANITY? VANITY! SOLOMON’S SEARCH… FOR HIS PURPOSE IN LIFE…
HE SEARCHED FOR PLEASURE
Ecclesiastes 2:1 I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
HE SEARCHED FOR LAUGHTER, JOY, FUN.
2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?
HE SEARCHED FOR MIND ALTERING.
Ecclesiastes 2:3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
HE SEARCHED FOR MANSIONS AND WORKS
4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
HE SEARCHED FOR SWIMMING POOLS, GARDENING AND PLANT LIFE
Ecclesiastes 2:5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
HE SEARCHED FOR FRIENDS, PEOPLE, WORKERS.
Ecclesiastes 2:7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house;
HE SEARCHED FOR MATERIALISM AND THINGS
also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
SEARCH FOR WEALTH AND TREASURES
8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces:
HE SEARCHED FOR MUSIC AND INSTRUMENTS…
I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
HE SEARCHED TO BE PLEASED.
Ecclesiastes 2:10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
ALL MY SEARCHING IS CONCLUDED IN VANITY.
*VANITY: useless, worthless, empty, of no value… pointless,
Ecclesiastes 2:11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.

SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW WAS WRITTEN FOR A MOVIE CALLED THE WIZARD OF OZ.
RAINBOWS ARE WHEN SUNLIGHT IS REFLECTED WITHIN RAIN DROPS. Most rainbows occur before, during or after storms. THERE ARE 7 COLORS IN THE RAINBOW. Orange, indigo, violet, red, yellow, blue and green.
CAN WE GIVE HOPE IN DARK SEASONS? ARE WE FOREVER TRAPPED? DO WE DARE TO DREAM? 1939 WAS A SAD TIME IN HISTORY! THERE WAS A RUSSIAN-JEWISH MAN NAMED YIP HARBURG (Harold Arlen). HE WAS RAISED AN ORTHODOX JEW. THE HOLOCAUST WAS TERRIBLE, IT ROBBED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE OF HOPE AND LIFE. THE JEWISH PEOPLE NEEDED HOPE IN A HOPELESS DAY.
There is a song written that speaks beyond the hurts and disappointments of today. This song is a song of HOPE. This song declares OUR SITUATION WILL CHANGE. The Jews lost all their freedoms. The Jews were facing great hostility. YIP KNEW SOMEDAY THE TIDE WOULD TURN AND HE DESIRED TO ENCOURAGE THE JEWISH PEOPLE… Have hope, hope against hope.
1948 is the temperature required to purify gold. In 1948 Israel would be REBORN. DO WE REALIZE YIP’S SONG WAS ALMOST PROPHETIC… YIP SPOKE OF THE CHIMNEY TOPS… (gas chambers.)
THIS SONG WAS VOTED THE #1 SONG OF THE 20TH CENTURY. The rainbow in the song speaks hope, peace and joy to the heart of whoever will receive it. The skies will be blue and OUR DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

BIRDS FLY OVER THE RAINBOW, WHY THEN, OH, WHY CAN’T I?
IF HAPPY LITTLE BLUEBIRDS FLY BEYOND THE RAINBOW
WHY, OH WHY CAN’T I.
My dream is to fly like a butterfly? Maybe I will dream to fly much higher than a butterfly? Maybe my dreams calls me to soar like an eagle. Maybe I feel God’s call to GROW AND REACH HIGHER. The rainbow is a visible sign of GOD’S PROMISE AFTER THE FLOOD. The rainbow is the signature of a covenant between GOD and MAN. The covenant speaks of DIVINE PROTECTION.
BE HONEST… THERE IS NO END OF THE RAINBOW AS THE RAINBOW IS ROUND…
I was watching a TV interview of GARTH BROOKS. The reporter asked Garth: HOW DOES IT FEEL TO HAVE MADE IT TO FAME AND STARDOM IN NASHVILLE? Garth’s answer was amazing. He answered: OZ IS ONLY OZ TO THOSE THAT HAVE NEVER MADE IT TO OZ.
CONCLUSION:
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
There is an old gospel song: SEARCHING. We must search diligently…
