BY WHOSE PURPOSE DO WE LIVE? MY PURPOSE? GOD’S PURPOSE?
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
ARE WE PLAYING A GAME WITH NO GOALS?
Imagine a 100 yard football field, 22 players, a leather pig skin… and no goal lines and no goal post? Imagine a basketball court 94 feet long, 50 feet wide… with no back boards, no basketball hoops… and 10 players? There would be no purpose to play the game… We need rules and we need goals and thousands will watch the game.
Often times church people have no idea what their purposes are? They have NO GOALS, no plans and no purpose. Intentional
Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
MOST GIVING IS GIVING BECAUSE OF A NEED… TRUMPET GIVING… VS. PURPOSED GIVING…
2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
WE LIVE IN A DAY WHEN PEOPLE LEARN MORE AND MORE ABOUT LESS AND LESS UNTIL FINALLY THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT NOTHING…
Ephesians 5:15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
LET US LOOK AT SOME POSITIVE WORDS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE ACTIONS… CAN WE LIVE A LIFE WITH NO PLANS, NO GOALS AND NO PURPOSE? What do we plan on achieving? Nothing… Blessed is he that expects nothing, he will receive exactly what he expected.
**PURPOSE: the reason something is done, why something has been created, an end to attain, determination, aim, goal.
**INTENTIONAL: willfully, done on purpose, deliberate, to make plans to do, create, focus.
Intentional brings a focus on your commitment… on your VALUE SYSTEM and what is important to you.
INTENTIONAL IS PURPOSED GROWTH.
BEING INTENTIONAL WILL BRING HONEST CHANGE TO YOUR DAILY LIFE. MOST GIVING IS GIVING BECAUSE OF A NEED… TRUMPET GIVING… VS. PURPOSED GIVING…

Can we have a vision that sees beyond the deeds and actions of today? Intentional recognizes there is SOMETHING BETTER, there is more. TO BE INTENTIONAL IS MORE THAN PLAYING WITH YOUR EMOTIONS… INTENTIONAL IS STATE A OF MIND…
TODAY IS A RARE GIFT FROM GOD. There will never be another day like today. TODAY IS A GIFT FROM GOD! WHAT YOU DO WITH TODAY COULD BE YOUR GIFT BACK TO GOD… Today could be a gift back to you. AIM? AIMLESS LIVING?
There had a been possum on our concrete patio eating our dog’s food. The grandsons were over one day and the big, fat old possum came up on the back porch… It was so old it could barely walk. It had a thousand ticks on it. It must have been deaf. I loaded the 38 and walked out to shoot it. I did not want to shoot it on the concrete and chip it. The grandsons watched through the door. The possum started waddling off. It got to the grass. I was standing a foot away. I shot, bang. The possum kept walking. I shot again. It slowly walked away. On the 5th shot I hit the possum and he fell over. The grandsons said, Paw, how could you miss 4 times from a foot away. I explained to them. Boys I had my eyes closed. I did not want to see it die? They teased me for years, shooting with my eyes closed?
Proverbs 21:5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
THERE WAS A LADY THAT HAD SUFFERED 12 YEARS. SHE WAS WEAK. SHE HAD NO MONEY. SHE HAS NO HOPE. THE DOCTORS WERE USELESS… THE MEDICAL FIELD HAD FAILED HER AND CLEANED HER CLOCK… SOMEBODY TOLD THIS WOMAN ABOUT JESUS. SHE FOUND OUT WHERE JESUS WAS GOING TO BE… JESUS WAS ON THE WAY TO JAIRUS’ HOUSE… JESUS WAS BUSY… THERE WAS A HUGE CROWD AND SHE HAD TO PRESS HARD TO GET TO JESUS. ON THIS DAY THE WEAK, SICK LADY LEFT THE HOUSE WITH AN INTENTIONAL PLAN… I AM GOING TO TOUCH JESUS!
Luke 8:44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
That morning was THE DAY OF HER MIRACLE. I think she got up and took a bath. She put on her best dress and she headed toward Jesus. THE PURPOSE TODAY WAS DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER DAY… I BELIEVE SHE TOLD EVERY PERSON SHE PASSED, I AM GOING TO TOUCH JESUS. Many people mocked her and said you have a chronic, hopeless disease. I BELIEVE SHE WAS SINGING: MY FOOT IS ON THE ROCK, I GOT MY MIND MADE UP… I AM GOING TO FIND JESUS AND I AM GOING TO TOUCH JESUS IF I DIE DOING IT.
At the bottom of the prayer shawl were TASSELS that represented all 612 of the commandments (10) and the TASSELS SYMBOLIZED THE PROMISES OF GOD… The sick woman approached JESUS TO LAY HOLD OF HER PROMISE… THE PROMISE OF HEALING…
INSTANTLY HER BLEEDING STOPPED AND SHE WAS HEALED… WHY? SHE PURPOSED IN HER HEART… SHE LEFT THE HOUSE THAT MORNING WITH THE INTENT I AM GOING TO BE HEALED TODAY.
Luke 8:46 And Jesus said, Some body hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
Jesus knew who touched him… Jesus wanted the lady to step up and confess and acknowledge her healing. WHAT IF WE CAME TO THE POINT THAT WE CAME EXPECTING A MIRACLE?
LET US CONSIDER EVEN A DEAD FISH CAN FLOAT DOWN STREAM. HAVE YOU EVER HAD YOUR MOUTH IN GEAR WHILE YOUR BRAIN WAS IN NEUTRAL? WILL WE CONSIDER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEGLECT VS. ABUSE?
Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Don’t neglect to have hospitality … you never know the results of what you are doing…
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
BEING INTENTIONAL WILL BRING HONEST CHANGE TO YOUR DAILY LIFE. ELIJAH WAS A MIGHTY MAN OF GOD… NO ONE IS A SUCCESS WITHOUT A SUCCESSOR… SOMETIMES ONE HAS TO BE INTENTIONAL AND BURN THE BRIDGE… ELISHA SLAYS THE OXEN AND WILL HAVE NOTHING TO RETURN TO… HE INTENTIONALLY SET HIS PRIORITY ON TRUSTING GOD’S PLAN…
1 Kings 19:19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. 20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? 21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
Can we have a vision that sees beyond the deeds and actions of today? Elisha made a choice that day in the field? Intentional recognizes there is SOMETHING BETTER, there is more. TO BE INTENTIONAL IS MORE THAN PLAYING WITH YOUR EMOTIONS… INTENTIONAL IS STATE OF MIND… A CHOICE.
JACOB-(ISRAEL) WAS DYING. HE CALLED JOSEPH AND HIS 2 SONS TO HIS DEATH BED TO BLESS THEM… THIS WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT THAT DAY… IT WAS INTENTIONAL. ISRAEL CROSSED HIS HANDS AND PLACED HIS HAND ON THE YOUNGER BROTHER FIRST, NOT THE OLDER BROTHER.
Genesis 48:14 And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
CONCLUSION: REAL LIFE MINISTRY AND KINDNESS IS NOT BY ACCIDENT. RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS ARE NICE BUT DO WHAT YOU DO INTENTIONALLY. LET US DECIDE WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME… WHAT WILL MY PRIORITIES BE? Value your family and friends.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
DO YOU KNOW GOD’S PLAN FOR YOU? GOD HAS A PURPOSE FOR YOUR FAMILY. Be intentional!
