Summary: There is a spirit of heaviness that can weary God's people. Weariness can become a spiritual obstacle that hinders God's work

HEAVY! WEARY!

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

How many times did you complain today? Did you encourage someone today? A good person is kind and treats their enemies better than a bad person treats their friends. Did we learn LOVE NEVER FAILS? Love needs no applause.

TEXT:

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

2 Thessalonians 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Mark 14:40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

THE WORD WEARY IS FOUND AT LEAST 77 TIMES, HEAVY IS MENTIONED AT LEAST 39 TIMES in the Bible.

COME WITH ME IN YOUR JOURNEY AS WE CONSIDER HEAVY AND WEARY--- JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAY TO RESTORE REST, ENERGY, PEACE AND HOPE.

Jesus understands our journey. As a matter of fact JESUS EXTENDS SEVERAL INVITATIONS TO HIS PEOPLE WHEN WEARINESS AND HEAVINESS BECOMES A BIG OBSTACLE TO PROGRESS. I think Jesus is talking about physical heaviness, but in my opinion Jesus invites us to come with our mental and spiritual weariness and heaviness.

*WEARY: HAVING THE STRENGTH EXHAUSTED BY TOIL OR EXERTION, worn out, tired, exhausted in strength, endurance, vigor or freshness; having one’s patience, tolerance, or pleasure exhausted; burned-out, drained, fatigue, exhausted, spent, worn-out; UNABLE TO CONTINUE; strained,

*HEAVY: difficult to move, great weight, heavy can be physical, mental and or spiritual, hard to lift, burdened.

WEARY - HEAVY SPIRITS MAKE US COWARDS THAT DO STUPID STUFF… ESAU’S POOR CHOICES WERE ROOTED IN WEARINESS AND HEAVINESS.

Genesis 25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

TEAM WORK, NOT ISOLATION…YOU CAN HELP WHEN WEARINESS AND HEAVINESS TRIES TO HINDER THE VICTORY…

Exodus 17:12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

SISERA GETS TIRED, WEARY AND HEAVY. EVEN WHEN THE MIGHTY THAT HAVE SCORED VICTORY AFTER VICTORY THEY ARE VULNERABLE WHEN THE ARE WEARY… SISERA WAS UNDEFEATABLE BUT A LITTLE SISSY TAKES HIS LIFE… BECAUSE HE IS WEARY…

Judges 4:21 Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

Psalm 119:28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

CAN YOU HEAR THEIR HEART? WE HAVE CAUGHT NOTHING! WE WORKED HARD ALL NIGHT… WE ARE EMPTY

Luke 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

JESUS KNOWS WE FACE HEAVINESS AND WEARINESS… CAN WE HEAR THE INVITATION THAT COMES FROM THE SON OF GOD?

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Isaiah 28:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

Isaiah 40:29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

CONCLUSION: What can we do when a spirit of heaviness and weariness tries to crush us? Heaviness and weariness can drive us into the desert. We all walk the trails of heaviness, weariness and we will face oppression on a regular bases.

Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Weariness and heaviness cannot grow in the soil of worship and praise. Consider this GOD’S FAVORITE ATTIRE that He wears and inhabits is praise. The garment of praise will bring God so close that you will be like John and hear the DIVINE HEART BEAT. PRAISE IS LIKE A MAGNIFYING GLASS that brings into a clear focus… MAGNIFY GOD, our priority system sees God!

Psalm 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

General Douglas MacArthur had a terrible battle. The struggle was against mighty odds. The ALLIED FORCES were lacking in support. There was little food and it appeared the JAPANESE would defeat the USA. President Franklin Roosevelt ordered MacArthur to leave the PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. General Douglas MacArthur and all the Allied Forces temporarily left the Philippines… the USA appeared defeated. AS THE GENERAL LEFT HE TURNED AND TOLD THE PEOPLE OF THE ISLAND: I SHALL RETURN. The USA troops waited and received REINFORCEMENTS. There was a season of R&R, rest and relaxation. The troops regrouped and developed a new strategy.

IN JANUARY 1945: THE GENERAL STOOD AND DECLARED: PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES I HAVE RETURNED! The weary and heaviness of the troops changed. I SHALL RETURN--- THIS TIME THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT. In MacArthur’s book he told of marching to victory. They marched to the PRISONER OF WAR CAMPS. MacArthur says our boys were skin and bones. Many were blind and could not stand on their own. When the General got to the camps MacArthur said: He faced the skin and bone soldiers. They had been eating mice, bugs and grass. Tears streamed down their faces and the prisoners lifted each other up and SALUTED THEIR GENERAL THAT HAD RETURNED JUST AS HE HAD PROMISED.

Hang in there a little longer my friend. Refuse to allow weariness and heaviness to take dominion in our hearts.
