The Art Let…
Colossians 3:15-16AMP
A married couple was having a debate about who should get out of bed in the mornings to brew the coffee. Finally, the wife told her husband that it was his responsibility according to the Bible. The husband wanted to know where it said that. So she opened to a part of the New Testament where, across the top of the page it said, “He brews.”
Yes, it pays to know your books of the Bible. I can hear some husbands say—Wow, you got me really good, I guess I’ll make the coffee. P.H
Colossians 3:15-16AMP Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. 16 Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
In any relationship, or circumstance of importance, there’s always a letting—a choice.
Will I choose to improve? Will I choose to grow? Will I help others develop?
Do I choose to—Let…Let my love grow. Let humility in, Let Jesus reign, Let Gods word have free course, Let wisdom bring stillness, Let Gods spirit manifest calmness. Let Jesus be glorified in every situation.
Again, from todays text. Verse 15, Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being.
Verse 16, Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise].
Sometimes the question becomes, “Will I swallow hard, will I suck it up, or will I explode or worse yet, pout?”
Listen to the words in, Philippians 2:5NKJV Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
Key Note—Jesus submitted to Joesph and Mary until age, 30. Jesus submitted to John the Baptist and was baptized—The heavens opened. Jesus submitted to His Father and resisted temptation in the wilderness, In the Garden of Gethsemane, He submitted to His Father’s will, as He cried out for the cup of suffering to pass from Him. However, He cried, Nevertheless. Jesus submitted to the cross and became Savior of the world. Presently, Jesus is submitted to His Father and His number one mission is to pray and intercede for you Hebrews 7:25.
“There has to be a removal of my will to except His will.” P.H
Philippians 2:5-10TLB Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, 6 who, though he was God, did not demand and cling to his rights as God, 7 but laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men. 8 And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
The art of letting could also be called the art of surrender. Let—Jesus take the wheel.
Again from the text, Let the peace of Christ.
What type of situation or dilemma do you need peace about?
Walk in peace. Say, peace. No price tag on peace.
I’m not talking about inactivity, but a true peace that builds up the inner man. P.H
This kind of peace is generated by faith.
Bob Mumford—“Peace with God brings the peace of God. It is a peace that settles our nerves, fills our mind, floods our spirit and, in the midst of the uproar around us, gives us the assurance that everything is all right."
Colossians 3:15b, To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always].
Wow, God called us into peace. Again, 15b…Peaceful members as one body.
John 3:30TLB He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
Again, the art of letting. John 3:30TM This is the assigned moment for him to move into the center, while I slip off to the sidelines.
Colossians 3:16a Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being]…
The apostle Paul’s plea, Let the spoken word…
God’s word delivers—God’s word speaks wholeness—God’s word saves.
Say—His word.
Sing—His word.
Live—His word.
Colossians 3:16b…as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
The world, Gordon county, and maybe CECC needs your song. Your spouse, Your friend, a stranger.
You know what they need? They need your song. Do you have a song?
Benediction.
