Sermon - God Reigns
- Elections come, & elections go. Leaders are brought in, & leaders go.
- It seems like a year has just begun, & the year is almost done.
- The life we live is but for a moment, & then it’s done.
- If this is all that life is, then we are miserable!
- There’s more than an election, more than a year of your life, & there’s more than
your life lived now in this present time.
- What truly matters is our God.
Q- Now, Why is that?
- Let’s begin with reading Daniel’s Words.
Daniel 2:20-23
20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22 He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
23 I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.
- Whether it be our wisdom, knowledge, or might.
- Whether it’s a king, prime minister, or president (just to name a few).
- Whether it is in full outright evil, or in the presence of all righteousness.
- God is the One who establishes us.
- Standing Before Ahab & Jezebel, Antiochus Epiphanies, or Nero. God still
protected His people, & is still establishing His Kingdom.
- It doesn’t matter who might come to reign, God has appointed their season, &
it will be but for a season.
- Think about what that means & Let’s Pray.
Prayer
Q- What matters in this life?
- God is what matters, & His Kingdom.
- God’s Kingdom is coming, & I believe it is closer now than ever before!
- I never dreamed that peace would be coming between Israel & the Arabs.
- That’s the descendants of Isaac & Ishmael!
- We are called to remember the Kingdom of God. One of the signs leading up,to
Christ’s return is, the people will shout peace peace.....
- The People is Israel. Of course other things are supposed to take place before
Christ’s returns, but look at how quickly & unexpected it can happen!
- Listen to Jesus.
Luke 21:28
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
- Rather than being overcome with the birth pains that would sway us. We must be
focused on what’s coming.
- God will set up His Kingdom!
Q- Are you part of it?
- It doesn’t matter who you voted for, or even what you had for breakfast this
morning.
- If Jesus isn’t your Savior. Then you’re not part of the Kingdom!
- There isn’t a magical formula, nor is there an extension on your time.
- There is a calling, & an urgency, to come to Jesus while you are alive.
- The moment you close your eyes in death. You will open them to either the
Redeemer, or the Judge!
* Life is full of shortcuts, & underhanded inroads that make things easier or better for
you.
- These things disguise the truth, to only give us a moment of pleasure.
Q- How many times have you heard the statement, well I didn’t kill anyone?
- I know that’s just a statement, but it was said to make us feel better from doing
wrong.
- Let me read you a verse I Know you will recognize.
Number 32:23
23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.
- Your sin’s will find you out.
- Gad, Reuben, & the half tribe of Manasseh had agreed they would fight passed the
Jordan River. Although, the land of Gilead that they wanted was before the Jordan
River.
- Moses’ Word was swift. If you fizzle out, because you have your land. Believe me,
God will deal with you justly!
- Gad & the others valiantly fought for all of Israel to have their inheritance.
Numbers 32:18
18 We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.
- That same degree of devotion is given to all the members of the Kingdom of
God.
- The battle for our soul ends the day we bow before the nail scarred hands of
Christ.
- On That day Jesus lifts us up. He shows to us the battle. We were overcome
by sin, but the valiant Lamb stepped in & took our lashes. The enemy has no
more power over us. He used it all on Jesus/the Lamb.
- The battle is over, & now we march to the Kingdom.
- I know I use this scripture often but notice one more thing in it.
Colossians 2:14-15
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
- He made a show of them openly.
- I, Who was dead in sin, am now alive, & walking this life to eternity.
- I know where I’m going. It’s because of Jesus!
- But my job isn’t done yet!
- I will fight for those who are still in the battle.
1 Timothy 6:12-14
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
- Our God reigns! For those in Christ, He is our King. It’s by His good works we are
saved. It’s by this immutable, unchangeable truth, we live this life.
- We are driven to be like the children of Gad, Reuben, & Manasseh & press on. Making
sure every person receives their portion in the Kingdom..
- A Lot happens in our lives that may sideline us, or slow us down.
Q- Do you know what those instances are called?
- Temptations
- Listen to my last scripture.
James 1:12
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
- A full, & complete life. One that we feel blessed in.
Q- What kind of life is that?
- It’s the one that you live showing the Love you have for Jesus, & in Jesus.
- Jesus promises a crown of life to all that will trust in Him, & then He adds a
blessing to that life.
- In the times we are living in now. It is almost certain that persecution, & trouble
is coming our way.
- We cannot allow temptation, or fear to sideline us.
- This is why I picked our closing song, I will sing the wondrous story, to close
with.
- Jesus is our Redeemer, & it’s only through Him that any is made part of the eternal
Kingdom of God!
Prayer
I will sing the wondrous story
