Summary: In the names of Christ we get a full picture of our God. In these last three, of Isaiah 9:6, we see the Joy & Peace That can only come from our God.

Sermon- Christmas Advent Day 3 & 4 - 2019

Day 3 &4 *Joy

5. He will be mighty God.

* Peace

6. He will be Everlasting Father.

7. He will be Prince of Peace.

- In celebration of Jesus’ birth we know He was both child & God.

- He has all Authority, as given unto Him by the Father.

- His name is wonderful, or incomprehensible!

- He’s our loving Counselor.

- Now we see Him as the Victor, The soon coming King.

- Our first name this morning is Mighty God!

- Let’s read it again.

Isaiah 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

- Jesus will be known as, Mighty God.

Prayer

Q- How often do we think about Christ being the Mighty God?

- It’s easy to bring Christ down to our human, or finite level.

- Then we give God traits like ours.

- This is called Anthropomorphism.

- We read, & God remembered. God doesn’t forget!

- The writer is expressing that it feels like God just remembered me & He’s

saving me now.

- It was really God’s perfect timing!

- So, When we read, the mighty God. It’s saying, the one who has always been, is

being revealed to you.

Q- The question, do you remember the One who formed all these things?

- He now is before you!

John 1:1-5

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

- Everything was made by His Word!

John 1:14

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

- The Mighty God!

- You now see the full power of God, Through a small babe wrapped in swaddling

clothes!

- Through this name we have Joy, because we know what He can do.

Acts 4:12

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Q- Do you want Joy?

- The Mighty God will give it to you!

* With this Joy, the next name embraces our Joy,. It backs it up!

- The name is everlasting Father.

- The name brings peace/comfort to our hope/faith in our Mighty God.

- I know it’s hard to differentiate between Father God being Father God, & Jesus

being called Everlasting Father.

- Here’s What Everlasting Father means,

- For a family, they entrusted their father to care for them, supply for them, &

protect them.

- This is the character Jesus is given. He will be like a Father without beginning

or end.

- You will always have your Daddy by your side, looking after you.

Q- Do you have comfort in that name?

- In Jesus we have Joy, & lastly Peace.

- His name will be, Prince of Peace!

* From the birth of this small child flows Peace.

- Mankind States so often that we want peace.

- Yet, When Jesus was born, Herod within the first two years of Jesus’ life, ordered

all the newborn boys from two years of age & under to be killed.

- All in an attempt to slay the Prince of Peace.

- Jesus was revealed to the world, but it saw Him not!

John 3:19-20

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

- There’s no peace here in this world.

- In the Garden of Eden, where there was no war, there was no peace.

- The serpent was there. Evil was present, & he was blinding their eyes from the

Peace of The Mighty God.

- There’s no difference today,

- The second Peace is talked about, it will be quickly removed, Here’s why.

Mark 4:14-23

14 The sower soweth the word.

15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?

22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

- In a world full of radio, tv, cars, money, the internet, & etc. There are multiple

blindfolds being pulled over the people eyes.

- The question is being asked, Did God truly say.

- Our eyes & ears are being deceived.

- Then stands the church. We’re the candlestick, & we are saying Jesus is the

reason we celebrate Christmas.

- Jesus is The Mighty God, Everlasting Father, & Prince of Peace.

- He was born to give us life.

- Listen to my last verse. A verse that I love, & hold to, because from it is my peace.

John 10:10

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

- Jesus came knowing what He must endure.

- Like a Shepherd that’s had a lamb stolen by a lion. He knew exactly what He would

face to get us back!

- So, as we’re opening gifts & celebrating this Christmas. Let’s remember the

greatest, & most expensive Gift that has been given for us.

> Just As. by Nina Blaise-Marie

Just as the stars in the night sky..,

just as the calm after the storm.

Somewhere in this chaotic mess called life,

we finally feel the calm and see the stars,

the light shines through..,

and what is left? Just the peace and the happiness..,

in the heart and in the soul,

like the stars and like the calm..

Just as it should be...

- The King May have ordered all babies aborted, but in the devestation we know Jesus

is still King.

- We might not be able to answer it all, but Jesus can!

- His answer, wait & see what I’m about to do.

- Let’s make this invitation to be a time that we reflect on what Jesus has done for us

all & personally.

- Then, Let’s give Him thanks.
