A MOM’S BITTERNESS BACKFIRES? MENTOR?

There are two kinds of truth? 1. Personal truth? 2. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Your personal truth may be the truth or it may not be the truth? We can lie to our self and believe the lie? Then be damned?
There is a true statement: THE HANDS THAT ROCK THE CRADLE RULE THE WORLD.

One day Abraham Lincoln was riding in a carriage in Washington, D.C. General U.S. Grant was riding with him. Grant offered a cigar to Mr. Lincoln. Lincoln kindly declined the cigar. A little later Grant pulled out a flask of whiskey and offered Lincoln a drink. Again, Lincoln respectfully declined the whiskey. Grant said to the President: ARE YOU TO GOOD TO SMOKE AND DRINK WITH ME?
Lincoln said let me explain this. My dying mother asked me to never smoke or drink. I promised her I would not. Now, should I drink with you? General Grant said: NO! MR. PRESIDENT, YOU SHOULD HONOR YOUR PROMISE TO YOU DEAR MOTHER.
MOM HAD SOME GREAT PEARLS OF WISDOM. COME LET US RECALL THE COUNSEL OF OUR MOTHER’S:
1. Make sure you have on clean underwear, you might be in an accident.
2. Don’t take a bath during a thunderstorm.
3. Wash your hands.
4. Soap is cheap, use it often.
5. Don’t go to bed angry, you could die in your sleep.
6. Learn to finish what you start.
7. If you can’t say nice things then say nothing. Speak soft words, they are easier to eat.
8. If you open it, then close it. If you turn it on, then make sure to turn it off. If you put it on your plate then eat it.
9. You will be any better than the company you keep.
10. Never eat yellow snow.
Proverbs 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
WISE PEOPLE LISTEN AND KNOW THE SOURCE OF THE LESSON. Life is not just what is said, who said it, and the motivation of why they said it... REHOBOAM IS SOLOMON’S SON… Rehoboam was a poor listener.
Solomon dies, his son is about to become the new King of Israel. Solomon was wise. His son seemed to be stupid.
OLD PEOPLE GIVE ADVICE MAKE THE YOKE LIGHTER… wisdom does not always appear to be pleasant to the eyes…
1 Kings 12:6 And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived,
and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
YOUNG MEN’S ADVICE: MAKE LIFE HEAVIER, MY LITTLE FINGER SHALL BE HEAVIER THAN DAD’S THIGH.
THIS SOUNDS THE BEST TO MY EARS…

*2. Don’t be too free with your advice. A wise man already knows it. A fool will never listen and do…

THE MAIN THING IS TO KEEP THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING. THE GREATEST DUTY OF PARENTS IS AS A TEACHER… TO PASS THE TORCH OF AN ETERNAL VALUE SYSTEM… YOU ARE A MODEL, MENTOR, AND MOTIVATOR.
WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN AND YOUR CHILDRENS’ CHILDREN?
Are we teaching FAITHFULNESS to the church?
Are we teaching the TEN COMMANDMENTS? How can those that have never known the commandments keep them?
Deuteronomy 32:46 And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
COME LET US SEE WHAT BITTER, ANGRY, OUTWARDLY SINNER MOTHERS AND FATHERS ARE REALLY TEACHING? HEROD IS THE KING. HEROD’S BROTHER
In the mid-seventies, Linda worked with a lady. She had a beautiful smart little boy. We invited them to church often. They refused to go. But they would allow their little son to go to Sunday School and to church. He loved Jesus and music. A friend of mine helped me buy him a guitar and I gave him lessons. His parents refused to go to church. They loved pleasure. Eventually the little boy turned into a teen, 15 he refused to go to church.
One day the 19 year old boy stole his neighbor’s guns and sold them. The trail ended back at their home and the boy was arrested and taken to jail. I went to jail and stood good for him. We were riding back home and discussed many things. We pulled in the drive way and his mom and dad were sitting at the table crying in disgrace. The Mom said: HOW DID WE GET HERE? The Mom said, WE ARE ALL GOING TO CHURCH SUNDAY! The man cursed many bad words and said: YOU WOULD NOT GO WHEN I WANTED YOU TO, YOU COULD HAVE HEARD ME PLAY MUSIC. I REFUSE TO GO WITH YOU NOW OR EVER. PLEASURE FOR A SEASON?
COME LET US SEE WHAT BITTER, ANGRY, OUTWARDLY SINNER MOTHERS AND FATHERS ARE REALLY TEACHING? HEROD IS THE KING. HEROD HAS A BROTHER NAMED PHILIP. PHILIP IS MARRIED TO HERODIAS. HERODIAS HAS A SWINGING AFFAIR WITH HERODIAS.
As King Herod thought he was above God’s law and could do as he pleased. Herodias thought their affair was hidden and no one knew. Philip was trapped by his wife. JOHN THE BAPTIST, THE GOD CALLED FORERUNNER OF JESUS WAS PREACHING ONE DAY LIKED JOHN THE BAPTIST.
Until JOHN PREACHED A SERMON LIKE NATHAN DID TO DAVID--- THOU ART THE MAN. The King Herod got angry at JOHN’S MESSAGE. Worse than all of that: HERODIAS was burning up angry, WHO TOLD ON US… HERODIAS STARTED PLOTTING TO HAVE JOHN’S HEAD ON A PLATTER. She looked for the opportunity to have JOHN KILLED.
Luke 3:19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
JOHN THE BAPTIST HAD NO FEAR TO CALL SIN SIN… JOHN’S WORDS BURNED … THERE WAS NO REPENTANCE.
ANGER AND BITTERNESS WILL BURN DEEP…
Mark 6:21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee; 22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. 23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. 24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? A CONVENIENT DAY AROSE FOR HERODIAS TO GET EVEN, SHE HATED THE MESSAGE, SHE HATED THE MESSENGER… WHAT A POOR MENTOR?
Mark 6:17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. 18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
A BITTER, ANGRY MOTHER GAVE HER DAUGHTER SOME OF THE WORSE MOTHERLY ADVICE EVER GIVEN.
THE DAUGHTER CAN HAVE ANYTHING, A MANSION? THE FASTEST MUSTANG OF HER DAY? SHE COULD HAVE BEEN RICH? SHE NEVER HAD TO BE IN WANT AGAIN? SHE COULD HAVE BEEN QUEEN? SHE HAD IT ALL IN HER HANDS…
DAUGHTER GOES TO HER MOTHER HERODIAS, WHAT SHOULD I ASK FOR? WITHOUT HESITATION HERODIAS SAYS: I WILL GET EVEN WITH THAT STUPID OLE PREACHER… ??? SHE SAID, GET THE PREACHER’S HEAD ON A TRAY OF SILVER.
JOHN THE BAPTIST CAME OUT OF PRISON HEAD FIRST… body later.
I BELIEVE HERODIAS’ DAUGHTER HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN AS THEY RAISED THE LID ON THE SILVER TRAY AND SHE SAW A BLUE HEAD OF THE PREACHER. ALL THIS TERROR? YEARS DOWN THE ROAD I BELIEVE THIS DAUGHTER HATED AND DESPISED HER MOTHER. HERODIAS, WHAT DID YOU TEACH YOUR BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER?
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A GOD FEARING, OBEDIENT MOTHER CAN DO… MARY REMEMBERS AND CARRIES A TREASURE IN HER HEART. MARY IS NOT ANGRY, NOR IS SHE BITTER. MARY KNOWS WHO JESUS IS…
John 2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. 6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
MARY GIVES SOME OF THE GREATEST ADVICE TO THE GUEST AT THE WEDDING:
WHATEVER JESUS SAYS TO YOU, DO IT… Kind of like Nike? JUST DO IT. Jesus first miracle comes following on the heels of MARY’S WORDS LAUNCHING A MIRACLE… There were six water pots, empty.
Empty water pots? Where is the miracle? The people had to trust Mary’s command, JUST DO IT… The six empty pots will contain 150 to 180 gallons of water.
Now water we got? 150 to 180 gallons of water? Pure water.
THESE ARE THE LAST WORDS RECORDED SPOKEN BY MARY? MARY SPOKE 4 TIMES IN THE BIBLE… THESE LAST WORDS RECORDED ARE PLAIN AND CLEAR… DO WHATEVER JESUS SAYS! Mary, Jesus’ mother was a motivator, model and mentor and released the first miracle at the wedding in Cana.
CONCLUSION: Jesus is counting on you. When are you going to do it? Why do I have to pray? Why do I have to model Jesus to my children? I just don’t feel like going to church? David had a miracle… all the other soldiers were listening to the negative news and complained? David took his tested sling and 5 smooth stones, JUST DO IT DAVID… Mothers and fathers get up and do it… Invest in the cross. Teach giving? Teach quit complaining and start complimenting others? Teach kindness? Teach work ethics?
